Tiana's Showboat Jubilee opens today

True, but if I am thinking like Disney does, and wanting more profits, why not make this a themed area that relates to DL and to a movie?

I had always assumed that they never put a Disneyland-style New Orleans Square in WDW because many of the folks visiting WDW would actually be from the real New Orleans. New Orleans is more exotic to a Disneyland tourist from San Diego, Seattle or Sydney than it is to a Disney World tourist from the Southeast.

And no New Orleans Square meant no Pirates of the Caribbean. Until everyone complained loudly when the place opened in '71!

Interesting points about NOS. I've never heard about that before. But then again, NOS doesn't exist in TDL, DLP, or HKDL.

That's true....But, then again, I really don't think that would be too horrible a thing.

And yes, to Pirates...but no to Western River Expansion.... Poor Hoot Gibson.

Um, he's never set foot on TSI. :lookaroun
I didn't know that. :lookaroun
I have, and don't think they need to do anything with it right now.

Like others have said, the Magic Kingdom (and really WDW as a whole) has TONS more problems to fix first.

Rejuvenated Fantasyland will be a good start for Magic Kingdom, but IMO, TSI should not be touched except for general maintenance for now. This includes NO PERMANENT CHARACTER OVERLAYS!!!:)

My god... its a purple & yellow nightmare. :dazzle:  :lookaroun :lookaroun

Oh, come now. If a good mix of green, purple, and yellow doesn't make you want to eat king cake and wear plastic beads, I really don't know what will. It's all about the Mardi Gras!

I don't know why they do not just continue this till February 16 (Mardi Gras). The current end date is three days before the Carnival season begins and they are cutting the show.

It seems like a waste. Just imagine how many happy vacationing Louisianans would populate the Magic Kingdom Mardi Gras week.

EXACTLY what I'm thinking. I doubt it's an oversight, and I'm really thinking they'll extend it. Otherwise, the DL debut at NOS might be coinciding with Mardi Gras. Which would be great for them, but they already get so much great stuff...

Ok. Looks good.
How does this affect ride times on the Liberty Square Riverboat?

Is the decor on the entire time even when it's not running?

The banners and drapery on the railings have been up for at least a few days, and I haven't seen them removed. That's not to say that they're not... I just haven't seen it. So I say yes, the decor stays up.

By the way... today was awesome. The welcome procession and castle greeting was fabulous. It was so funny to see people being clueless about history in the making!! haha :) SO excited to have a new princess in the Kingdom!! :D

I took those on opening day (and was there for the press event today as well). It's a fun show, though I wish there were live music (like I understand Disneyland is getting). Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen are also now doing a meet and greet, that started today (closer to the Crystal Palace area).

Actually it may not be named NOS but the buildings and such are part of TDL's Adventureland

http://land.allears.net/blogs/jackspence/2008/07/adventureland_tokyo_disneyland.html

Yeah, the New Orleans Square area of Tokyo Disneyland is the one part of that park that is like an identical copy of the Disneyland USA version. When I've been to Tokyo, that area is always the weirdest to walk around because it's so identical to Anaheim, right down to the window trim in the same shops and the plaques on the buildings. Even Tokyo's Blue Bayou Restaurant is like an identical copy of Disneyland's, right down to the hostess stand and the lobby benches! It's almost creepy.

Is the band playing on the bow of the riverboat just pretending then? Or is it a combo of live music from the boat and taped music coming out of the area speakers on the land?

It should be interesting to see how the Disneyland version differs when it starts next week.

The "procession" part of this show at Disneyland will travel through 1920's themed jazz age New Orleans Square instead of 1770's themed colonial Liberty Square.

It sounds like a live band from the videos, DL casted for vocals though

A perfect fit in NOS except for the small part of going into Frontierland but then again theres the parades that dance there way down Main Street. I would love to see this perfrom at night with the lighting on the Mark Twain and taking advantage of the Fantasmic! lighting system.

The show looks great and brings some much needed life to the ROA at MK.

You can say that again! We were just talking in another thread last week about how quiet the WDW version of the Rivers of America is with just one riverboat and a raft.

But how are they going to handle this show at Disneyland with the rafts to Pirate's Lair, the big Sailing Ship Columbia, and a fleet of Davy Crockett Canoes all competing for space and traffic flow on the Rivers of America? Will the Columbia and Canoes have to stop operating for these shows? What about the rafts? Sounds like it could be a big headache to get this all to work on Disneyland's much busier Rivers of America.

As usual, things just appear to "work" in and for DL.:fork::lol:

While the boat itself is boarded in Liberty Square, the show takes place on the Rivers of America, and New Orleans is along the greatest river in America.

Okay... a long stretch, but oh well. I'm liking it, though it will probably seem nicer in DL. (however the boat boards in Frontierland there..)

does this mean they wont pick people from the crowd to ride it.

Liberty Square Riverboat will not be operating normal guest trips for the foreseeable future
Oct 28, 2009

The Liberty Belle Riverboat will not be operating normal guest trips for the foreseeable future due to required maintenance. The Riverboat will continue to take part in the 3 daily shows of Tiana’s Showboat Jubilee! during this period.
