This is on a level of the cabanas. The attempts at cash grabbing are beyond an embarrassment.
Why the embarrassment? Is Victoria and Alberts an embarrassment? No. It's done well with a price tag that is exclusive. Sure, here with the Boat and Cabana's they are monetizing elements of the park that most of us would prefer to preserve rather than utilize. But they are honestly dead spaces. But like V&A, if you have the money and the desire, then go for it. I just hope these things are done with the class and artistry that has made Disney what it is.

You've seen the tents in tomorrowland? We have better looking ones on the streets of Manchester that homeless sleep on.

"Sorry sir. I know you've paid a lot of money to come to this park. If you want to ride the boat for the next three hours you've got to pay more"

How many more brainless ideas must the parks suffer by clueless kids out of business school?

Ha, right. I know. But I was assuming the tents were temps. And glorious gilded areas with CM with giant palm leaves fanning guests would be erected once this proves profitable.

How is closing this ride for 3 hours a day any better or worse from closing an attraction for a season? Both decisions for "closures" have been driven by demand. Both types of "closures" would take advanced planning on your part. But at least here you can still ride it during your visit. Not like we're talking about an attraction that has 180-minute-waits here.

I'd say greed. And desperation.

Each park has been ordered by Burbank to make a saving of a specific figure. It's not a small figure. Partly due to the Avland fiasco. How they achieve it is up to them.

Be thankful - in a way - Epcot didn't loose Energy in January. The only reason to close it then was to save money. It would have sat untouched for at least a year.

It took them a year to build a pagoda at Flame Tree in AK. If they started a gilded cabana today, right this very second, they may just be done by the inevitable heat death of the universe..

OK, but still, 2-3 is oddly early for a dessert party. I guess I'm just very traditional and eat my dessert after my dinner.

It's an ice cream party which is a good thing for the middle of the day during the hotter months.

One question has been will Tiana and Naveen meet before or after the parade since they are in the parade or are they being taken out of the parade?

The article says after the parade.

What's particularly disconcerting is that the domestic parks are now performing (financially) the best they have this century.

But that's for another thread (which I'll be posting shortly).

I understand everyone on here thinks this is a bad idea and Disney is just out to make a buck but I actually love it. Never once have I seen the Riverboat full of people, actually I've never seen over 50 people on it and who wouldn't love to be on the Riverboat dancing around with Tiana and having deserts. Say what you will but I'd pay.

It's people like you that encourage these bad behaviors. This is an outrageous tactic that's becoming all too common in Disney and if people keep paying for these ridiculous things then the whole park will eventually go back to ticketed rides with one ride on HM costing you $30 per person. If that's the sort of WDW that you want to visit, then by all means keep throwing your cash at Disney through these events.
