@mickEblu was specifically talking about ones based on Disney animated IP.
That's a distinction without a difference since it's all under Disney anyway. I'm not sure what relevance it having to be specifically "Disney IP" is any different from any other Disney animation and guests involved in the plot on this ride. So what?

Is a character announcing his own stage direction or thoughts into thin air really more organic than two characters conversing?
When basic show don't tell in motivation is broken yes. It really is bad in this situation.

Hearing what others are thinking of a situation is different then announcing everything with the end result blunt to guests.

And in its own context something like
"I am still looking for the ...." is different and for sure better then something like

"Shouldn't we have found the .... by now?"

These both bluntly announce the expected result. The ellipsis would be filled in with the same thing in both cases. Announcing that I am looking for a thing during a story generally means I will encounter said thing whether I mention that I'm still looking for it or that I feel I should have come across it already.

also, Mama Odie saying "Gee that Tiana sure knows how to throw a party!" at the end of the ride is literally no different in tone than brer rabbit sitting there going "I sure learned my lesson mr bluebird!" I would be shocked if that dialogue was featured before the drop.
Did B'rer Rabbit say that? I remember him singing "moving on taught me a lesson" as an alternative evolution of the Zip-A-Dee-Do-Da song that was the finale. Characters singing from their heart is a standard in musical theatre which Disney films took a lot from. Characters just saying what they feel flatly is considered poor writing.

Cringey dialogue...my gosh, and people are "LOVE" reacting to it?

Sounds a lot like "Oooh, look around the bayou, isn't it tasty, and beautiful, and relevant!"

Well, the only bright side here is that they're not directly speaking to the riders.

So tired of the 'you're recruits!' trope in themed attractions. It was played out in Universal in the '90s and needs to die, yet Disney insists on shoehorning it into almost all of their new offerings.

Oh boy, I really don't mean to be so critical, but what the...

That quote doesn't belong in any attraction. Period, end of story. If the auctioneer said it on Pirates, I would hate it. If Simba said it on the Lion King flume ride, I would hate it. If Brer Rabbit himself said it on Splash, I would hate it.

It's a great line from Walt. It's more than that, it's iconic. To appropriate it in this way is so incredibly off-putting.

[and now I'll head into my bomb shelter to withstand the blows...]

Not to mention- WDI has really played into meta references and humor the last 10 or so years.

Not everything needs to be meta. It's okay to just design something great.

Exactly. It has gotten to the point where Disney used to be great experiences themed to different things.

Often now, they just instantly theme it to "Disney" to where it has gone meta and it is hard to even say what that is.

Right down to all the merch having to be the lifestyle of Disney rather than fun specific ties into the attractions.

Has Disney going Meta ever worked for them? Under New Management, Incredicoaster, Mission BO, the preshow for Cosmic Rewind, Journey Into Your Imagination....Disney needs to just go is in what they do best, telling an earnest and charming story instead of trying to be hip and wink at the audience.
