Of Disney's roster of animated villains, second only to Hades, Dr Facilier is the closest thing Disney has to a potential "necromancer" like character (well except maybe the Horned King, though I don't think anyone expects Disney to revisit the Black Cauldron as an IP). The concept of resurrection fits very well with dark voodoo magic, Tia Dalma being another example. The idea that Disney can't or won't come up with a reason to have him appear in a post-movie story out of concern it wouldn't make any sense is ridiculous. Whether it's him escaping the netherworld and coming back to life, or having guests take a wrong turn in a deep dark part of the bayou and ending up on the Other Side themselves. I like the latter option personally as it helps justify the drops and final lift (a cameo by Ray would even be possible in this scenario). But either way, excluding him from the ride was a huge mistake.
