Wait Shrek’s Swamp Adventure would actually be a really good reskin of Splash.
You could keep the tree on top.
The majority of the ride would be silent because we don’t want to wake Shrek up and annoy him.
When we get to the top of the lift Donkey pops up and yells something, which wakes up Shrek. He comes out, sees us, and yells

“WHAT ARR YEW DEWING IN MAH SWAMMMMMPPPPP?????”

Then he throws us off the mountain.

In the finale, every character from every Shrek movie dances to Believer, and then it ends.

Unless you got lucky (they were trying to fix things, so some weeks were better), it was in awful shape during its final years. But it shouldn’t have been and that’s not a reason to remove it. If your house is getting run-down, do you burn it down or do you fix things that are broken?
It’s final years for sure. The stretch from 2013 to 2020 was pretty great. That’s when I truly fell in love with the ride. The only “common” failures during this time were Million Dollar Bunny and the Blue Birds, but often they were fixed up.

I lucked out, the only rides I ever got without the million dollar bunny were post 2020.

For me the only routinely broken effect was Brer Bear with the bees (I only saw him once with full motion)

Sadly that seems to be Disney's current M.O. with closing attractions. Splash and Country Bears were in terrible shape before they closed, and DINOSAUR is in rough shape.

DINOSAUR is running in excellent shape, in my recent experiences.

The best part of DINOSAUR was sitting in the back row, being tossed all around and careening wildly through the dark, with a lot of loud noises.
I hope anything that replaces it (wish it could stay) will have that aspect.

Splash was in bad shape as far as just the amount of stoppage during the ride. Awful.

The timeline where Disney owns Shrek

Shrek was relevant when my kids were toddlers and tweens. They are now 27 and 23 next month.

Always your kids, but not actually kids anymore in age at that point. So no, they would not be of the Dreamworks and Illumination success over Disney that has happened in the most recent decade.

PussnBoots and Kung Fu Panda 4 would not exactly be in their wheelhouse.

Both some of the most successful animated films of the last two years.

Both from properties that are over 20 or over 15 years old.

I think you just reinforced my point.

Both have lasted to that pop culture zeitgeist, have had hit movies in the lat two years after a legacy of hit movies and both are featured in a new theme park attraction venues this summer.

That was the point. Popular, and super relevant due to recent hits.
