Here are my thoughts.

I have Splash in my name, so clearly I was a fan of the attraction.

Splash was an excellent ride (either my favorite or second favorite at WDW before the recent expansion wave). Initially, as you might expect, I was quite upset. Especially since insiders didn't provide much hope for TBA (basically saying it would be a very cheap replacement).

A few things have changed since then.

For one, we know this will not be a cheap replacement with giant screen-based environments. We know this will contain similar or more animatronics than Splash, with those animatronics being highly advanced.

Obviously, we haven't ridden it, but there's really not much to suggest it'll be a bad ride, but there's a lot to suggest it'll be very good.

Additionally, the attractions themselves will be inherently similar (same ride path, animatronic heavy critter attraction, great music, etc.) so they're effectively substitutes (like how you wouldn't have Big Thunder and HKDL's Grizzly in the same park). It's also interesting, because I commented some years ago on Marni's profile, asking if he ever thought we would get an animatronic-dominated ride (like Pirates) again, and he basically said no, but we seem to be getting that (granted, it also sacrificed an animatronic heavy ride and it's not ground-up, but regardless). If it's successful, hopefully, they learn animatronics are the move for future attractions. They managed to learn about face projections and pivot, so hopefully they learn the right things here.

So as someone who felt very strongly about Splash's closure (and while there are still potential and valid gripes with the closures), I feel infinitely more passionate about the closing of GMR, and while I have no memory of riding Horizons, I can sympathize with those fans more because of GMR.

GMR was more quintessential to DHS than Splash is to MK, it was more unique, and its replacement had a better opportunity and reason to go elsewhere.

So overall, I don't think TBA is the sky is falling situation that I once thought, and as some continue to believe.

As a result, I'll ask that we please stop bickering about it, everything that could or needed to be said has been said and we're just bickering for the sake of bickering, so can we please (this is the internet, ha!) just stop bickering (what's the saying? Falling on deaf ears?).
Hey I went from “I’m never going to ride this/let alone look at it” to “if it’s open when I’m in Florida, I’ll take a ride”. That’s coming along way if you ask me.

I still don’t suspect it will be my thing. Human dominated Disney movies/attractions aren’t really my thing. If I’m watching/riding Disney, it’s for exaggerated whimsy. Princesses also aren’t my thing.

I just don't understand why anyone would be so obsessed with a ride or so hateful of it they make it their whole personality. It's a theme park ride. It's literally the least important thing in the world. It's a boat ride. What's it matter whether it's an older, controversial theme, or a new one? It doesn't matter
Now can we please get back to the topic of this thread - construction? There's a different thread for debate about whether the retheme is good or not. I don't want to keep seeing notifications about new details and construction updates and instead come back to arguments and name-calling... come on, guys...
Things that have brought people, sometimes generations of people and families great pleasure do matter.
Why would theme parks like WDW be so popular if such things didn't matter?
And it's sad to see the destruction of anything that has brought people great joy.
They may not be the most important things in the world, but they are certainly not the least important.
Yes, life goes on - nothing stays the same forever and all of that stuff.
If it didn't matter, we wouldn't be here.

Can I say something really silly?

I think I prefer Tiana’s 😅
I find it more attractive as well.
I never loved the exterior of Splash.
It was the whole that mattered.
And that's what is going to matter most to me about Tiana's.
Not the AA count or if they are state of the art, not whether there are screens or not, certainly not some of the other things Disney is pushing.
It's the whole thing, how well it works together, and most importantly how I feel at the end of it.
Remember riding a ride for the first time, whatever it may have been - Everest, Splash, RnR... and you just have this feeling of joy, exhilaration, etc., at the end?
That.

I think the quality of the animatronics, greenery, etc. look solid. And, I will fully own that it looks to be a properly invested replacement - at least from the budget/quality standpoint. (Story and music TBD.)

I still think what is making me even less excited about it is the lack of necessity. Having BOTH would have been incredibly exciting. The replacement aspect is just killing the excitement for me (plus the political fighting associated with it, which is just tough for me personally to separate).

This is true, however, it will assuredly be a turd when compared to Splash Mountain. There is zero possibility of the WDI of today beating it.
I feel like the same thing was said about ToT>Guardians at DCA. I've definitely heard a lot of people say they prefer Guardians. Not saying Tiana will be better than splash... but we certainly don't know that yet.

Some people knew that the moment it was announced. It’s kind of like how, if someone says they are making a cheesecake but they don’t have to turn the oven on to do so, I know it will be a weak facsimile of the real deal. Now, I’m not prejudging Bayou Adventure like I prejudge no-bake cheesecake, but I can mentally wrap my mind around the fact that some have.

Yeah, way too early to tell. However, this has all the makings of a decent attraction at least judging by what they are telling us.

Again, tough act to follow but excited to see what they come up with.

I'll be honest, I don't get the comparison... You had a log flume ride based on song of the south and are getting a log flume ride based on princess and the frog. What's the equivalent of the "no bake" step/feature that splash had that we know Tiana's wont?
