They would have if they followed every piece of info coming out as the project was being built (like we do here with TBA). Notice this Pandora teaser trailer from 2016 (which features the NRJ shaman) is branded to Alpha Centauri Expeditions.

But just like most people who visit Pandora don't know (or care) about ACE or about the fact that this is supposed to be generations later than the setting of the films, most people probably won't know or care about Tiana's Foods, an employee-owned co-op.

But that doesn't mean it's not an integral part of the storytelling.

I agree, even those of us who follow these things don’t really care once the ride opens, I don’t register it’s an Alpha Centauri lab when in the queue, I just see a cool lab and a cool animatronic, same is true of Big Thunder, Jungle Cruise, etc… I don’t see a specific business, just an explorers office, miners office, etc.

If TBA ends up a great ride the complaints will stop, unfortunately all we have to focus on right now is what we can see on the exterior and the few backstory details they’ve given us, which is why we’re analyzing them to pieces, we don’t have the big picture to discuss yet.

What overhead effects on Everest?

And those possums weren’t turned off - they are just playing possum! Haha
I think Everest just has the yeti itself which is busy getting the groove on at a 24/7 disco! I’m not sure if turning it off had anything to do with it being over the guests, I thought it was just because the intense motion was too much on the structure of the mountain itself.

Big Thunder had the possums which don’t move anymore and just seem to ‘hang’ out. The OG finale had the moving and rumbling rocks but those were all turned off after someone was hit by one in Paris.

The Yeti. And I wasn't referring to the possums specifically as I think that's just maintenance not caring (last I rode BTM, literally every single figure in the flooded town was also broken, and the water wasn't flowing either). Though I have heard that some idiot guests do attempt to smack them as they pass underneath. So who knows if they'll ever fix them even in a proper refurb...

The effects i'm referring to on BTM are the original falling rocks in the third lift. The sides of the walls used to shake, and there were rock props that would "drop" over guests heads (they were on a track and would reset after every train). These are long gone, I don't know how long exactly. And they'll never come back. Disneyland and Paris both got new fake explosion effects, but WDW has yet to receive the same.

I don't think they turned off any of those things because they're "wild about safety" ;) View attachment 763769

I think it's because cool things like that are more likely to break, and WDW management doesn't want to pay to fix them.

And whatever cool things are in Tiana, in a few years it will be in the same disrepair that Splash was.

DING DING.

The fact that a bunch of broken and non replaced overhead effects and thinking we can't have those kinds of things often anymore is a result of upkeep, not possibility or legal concerns.

Navi River Journey has the scenes of frog shadows hopping but mechanical leaves moves above you to convince you otherwise.

Rise of Resistance has overhead effects throughout the ride.

I honestly think what we see here is going to be exactly what we get, not only because of the article yesterday, but from what Disney posted at the end of 2022. Tiana and Louis will be talking to us here, on top of the critter band - 8 animatronics in the first major scene we drop into. I think the NOLA article is referring to additional Animatronics later on in general, not that this scene has been modified.

"As you can see here, fireflies will light up the night and invite you deeper into the bayou … almost like they’re waving you forward. What you can’t tell from this rendering – so you’ll just have to trust me on this one – is that beautiful zydeco music will fill the air. Zydeco is a special blend of rhythm and blues that was born in Louisiana, and when you hear it, you’ll feel like you’ve truly stepped into Tiana’s world.

Here you’ll find Louis, who explains where this amazing music is coming from. Tiana made some new friends out here – a band full of adorable critters, including an otter, a rabbit, a racoon, a beaver, a turtle and others. The band members sing and play instruments made of natural materials they found in the bayou. It feels like they may have a bigger role to play in this story … but we’ll just have to wait and see on that one."

What is bro doing? I hope he realizes license plates aren't an instrument and don't make music.

Joe Rohde (along with others on this forum who know) has stated that the problem is with the figure itself. And that there do exist the means to fix it. It will require money, along with an actual desire to make it work from people in power. Disney doesn't seem to want to fix it. I'm again sure the lawyers are happy to also keep him turned off.

The leaves in Navi are sort of different than heavier props like barrels and crates dangling above guest heads from cables. I can't recall many overhead props in Resistance, Kylo's lighsaber blade in the elevator? Still not exactly a prop that is just dangling precariously over someone's head like the POTC kegs.

The lawyer thing isn't something i'm making up btw, I recall it being discussed some years back. Around the time when there were several close calls involving falling rockwork in Splash's queue and the Tree of Life (and again beforehand with the falling rocks in BTM). It was stated around the time that these incidents made the WDW lawyers nervous regarding overhead props.

Washboards do (a type of percussion), and it looks like that's what he's using as a substitute.

You do realize the crates and barrels aren’t ACTUALLY heavy - it’s a prop just like the leaves.
Yes, I know they're not as heavy as they look. Same goes for the falling rocks in BTM, but they were still removed permanently after it allegedly freaked the lawyers out.

If they hang a crate from a crane directly overhead guest heads on TBA, i'll admit I was wrong. It will surprise me if they do that.

If the ride disappoints me, I'll post about it. If the folks who constantly post negative opinions about TBA now (before it's open) change their tunes after seeing/experiencing it, I'll be surprised.
Maybe it warrants people stating what their expectations and standards are for the ride. I'm curious what yours are.

For this ride to be at all acceptable by MY standards, it needs to contain at least the same amount of AA's that Splash had (of an equal or better quality). They need to properly fill out the scenes as well, i'd better not see the finale for instance only have a fraction of what Splash had. And the scenery itself needs to be high quality and not overly reliant on flat projections at the expense of physical detail.

The attitude towards Guardians was very negative during construction also, mostly as a result of Tower of Terror being so beloved, but that negativity was muted pretty quickly after it opened.

There’s still many who prefer ToT but the vast majority stopped being negative when the positive reviews started coming in. I think people will give TBA the same chance, it just has to reach the high bar that came before it.

- The dip drop (Where Br'er Bear's butt was) is where we will be shrunk to the size of a critter by Odie and the big drop is us becoming human, once again thanks to Mama Odie.
- We're meeting the band along the way.
- Louis is supposed to "follow" us through the former Laughin' Place via screens

Well…. A rock falling onto a guest would indeed freak some people out.

And I’ll admit we are in the minority - almost all of my friends prefer guardians tower.

You're right, we don't yet know what (if anything) they'll offer as an explanation for the logs.
I honestly don't think we need an explanation for the logs. Splash Mountain didn't have one, and Peter Pan's Flight doesn't explain the multiple flying pirate ships when there was only one (much larger) one in the movie.
Disney doesn't seem to want to fix it.
Of course Iger doesn't want to fix it. Why should they waste money repairing something in that "nondescript coaster that maybe is themed to India or whatever"?

And in regards to the rumors from that podcast @EagleScout610 brought up... honestly, they sound awful. Why is Mama Odie shrinking us down to the size of a "critter" (which critter specifically? A frog? A beaver? A rabbit?) in the first place?

And the Laughin' Place is gonna be full of screens? Yeesh...

They shrink you down to critter size and send you to Universal Studios?
