Went on Splash Mountain on my most recent trip at Disneyland and can definitely back it up.

Knott's used to do that, but there were apparently too many problems, so they don't anymore.
At one of early DL Halloween parties they had scareactors in HM. A treat trail had given us small flimsy rolled up posters so we used those to fend them off.

I rode HM during the brief period where they had an actor in a suit of armor prowling the Clock Hall. Scared the crud out of us! But, apparently, the hapless knight actors got punched a lot.

Y'know, the fact that Disney is having financial troubles right now but would rather put so many cast members out of work than cancel the retheme really says a lot.
The First Seal of the Book of Judgment has just been broken.
It's a hiring freeze (except they're still hiring special skills help) and a restructuring of those left. There is no massive layoffs (at this time, AFAWK). Massive layoffs would trigger California laws regarding a notice of commencement of layoffs and also renegotiation with all the unions company wide.
At this point it's looking like DL will have their Classic Splash just a little bit longer than WDW. Ours is most likely going down in very early January with yours lasting until Toontown opens

Toontown or just MMRR? I figured with the rush to open it by late January they likely had enough capacity to shutter Splash even if TT didn’t open til Spring.
Also interesting that MK may not opt to wait until Tron opens. Will be a definite temporary capacity hit for the park.
