Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

With the removal of Splash they are already taking Walt Disney out of Disneyland. I know he didn't make the ride but it's his film and music that the ride is based off of.

At this point I lost all motivation to care about what happens to the park. After Splash being removed, it stopped being Disneyland for me. Although I will keep an eye following things just to see the company hit rock bottom.

I really feel like the combination of Walt era charm and Eisner era thrills pretty much made Splash Mountain the ultimate Disney attraction, as it has everything that someone could ever want from a Disney attraction. It has tons of animatronics, great songs, a long ride time, tons of charm, and also enough thrills to satisfy thrill seekers. I can't think of one single other theme park attraction that offers all of that and pulls it off so masterfully.

The charm is something that just can't be replicated, no matter how hard WDI tries, they won't be able to recreate the charm of Splash Mountain. Charm is something magical that can't be replicated from a formula. A great example of this is how none of the Star Wars movies after Return of the Jedi have the same charm as the original trilogy.

That exact same (“whitewashing of history”) argument can be applied to Tiana’s story of an African American woman/entrepreneur in the New South in the 1920s, though.

Better nix that idea. Looks like the “diversity committee” isn’t following their own self-imposed standard.
It’s fabricated reasoning to justify the demonizing of the film. Every single Disney film is white washed and romanticized. The real issue is the dialect. It was dated when the film came out and it’s especially dated now. Whether or not it’s inclusion is justified based on the time and setting of the film is up for debate. But it has no presence in the ride.

Further, if Main Street is offensive which is based on Marceline, Missouri In 1910s, how is 1920s New Orleans, Louisiana (the settings for Splash Mountain 2.0) not an equally offensive setting to portray?

Trying to follow the logic here.

Not to mention, that Frog Mountain revolves around Mardi Gras. You know, the party that's basically drug fueled debauchery in New Orleans. A far less offensive topic than a fox chasing a rabbit.
