Can someone tell me why the hell Main Street is offensive?

Where does this stop?
It doesn't. Just like Iger's rein of terror, it just keeps going and going and going and going and going...

As for how Main Street USA is offensive... I don't know.

The argument would be that it’s a sanitized and idealized version of turn of the century America which ignores the flawed parts of that history.

What they don’t realize is that that’s literally the point of Main Street, and even Disneyland as a whole. From the very beginning it was intended to be a fantasized version of that time period for older folks to remember. It was deliberately built to be the storybook version of America from that time. Because, y’know, this is a theme park. It’s not a serious historical museum.

That exact same (“whitewashing of history”) argument can be applied to Tiana’s story of an African American woman/entrepreneur in the New South in the 1920s, though.

Better nix that idea. Looks like the “diversity committee” isn’t following their own self-imposed standard.

Mickey Avenue was created for Disney Shanghai because Main Street USA wouldn't play in China. The idea that it's coming to the domestic part is just a rumor, a very unlikely rumor, and something that probably will never come about because of the current Financial strain. Not worth getting angry over.

Well maybe 3 or 4 years ago I would have agreed. These days anything is possible

After they went after Splash, I figured that Main Street would be something they go after next for this very reason. I don't want to post this on Twitter since I don't want to give the mobs any ideas, but to be consistent, they will have to get rid of all references of Mickey and Walt too since they aren't 100% pure and perfect.
