I think we can blame the lack of kinetic energy and entertainment on the bean counters but can we blame the design on them too? I think the design blame goes to the imagineers. Granted, the workmanship in GE is impressive but it’s just boring and drab. The same way I blame them for the ugly new tower at DCA. Chapek made his Marvel request but he didn’t tell them to make it an oil refinery fortress warehouse

Wow 0 % after a billion spent and then Corona hit. 😳
I of course have no proof to back this up, but it wouldn't surprise me to find that the bean counters could have seen more elaborate renderings and thought, "too expensive, scale it back".

As for GOTOT:MB, who knows. That building's exterior isn't exactly super easy to retrofit, except for a new lick of paint and super glueing pipes all over the front. They were given what, six months?? It shows.

Somehow they spent even longer on The Incredicoaster and it turned out much, much worse.

Yeah you never know. That’s a possibility. So maybe to compensate they go the bold and flashy route to say “hey look it’s new.” Not what I’d put my money on but it’s possible.

Also mentioned that re-routing the flume is one of the proposed changes to the attraction.
Re-routing the flume? That would cost a lot of money, right? Isn't Disney having financial troubles at the moment due to... well, you know?

And they STILL think that they can pull this off.

I wouldn't trust Imagineering to design a bowl of cereal and milk these days.
They'd likely replace Toucan Sam on the box of Froot Loops with Olaf and slap Kylo Ren on the carton of milk. Gotta get in those IPs!

Current Disney has one singular goal in mind: to make more money.
That should be the company's slogan. "The Robert Iger Company: Our one singular goal in mind is to make money."

Bob Weis, creative lead for the Disney-MGM Studios and its 1994 expansion, Disney’s America, Disney’s California Adventure expansion/rebuild and Shanghai Disneyland is the current President of Walt Disney Imagineering.
Is it just me, or are there a lot of people in charge of the company named Bob?

The thing I don't understand is that Disney thinks all its branches serve to promote their film branch.

The idea that rides need to promote an existing movie or character to be "profitable" is insane to me.

Could you imagine if it was the inverse, Disney would develop new rides and its TV shows and movies had to promote the rides?

That's what Disney thinks of its park division. They fail to see that Disney theme parks were profitable for decades without each ride needing to become a movie/toy advertisement.

They are going all in on their film division right now. If someone doesn't care for "Marvel, Cars, or Star Wars", the last 9 years of additions to their parks wont mean anything to them.

Before the parks were about exploring different historical and fictional settings. There was no prerequisite of having seen and being a fan of dozens of films to understand the parks.
Yeah, I mean, when I was younger I went on IP-less rides like Test Track and Kilimanjaro Safaris and never once thought "Gee, this ride needs one of Disney's most popular IPs at the moment!". Pretty sure most people today think the same way.

While I am sure that at least some current Imagineers are good, there is one that came up with the phrase "Ten for a Hen" and another person somewhere in the company that approved the use of the phrase "Ten for a Hen."
I feel like they were expecting that to be the new "We want the redhead!". Dialogue that includes rhymes are always intended to be new catch-phrases.

Somehow Disney found a way to make it suck even more by making a Roller Coaster about babysitting an infant.
At least it gave us that great exchange in the queue where they make fun of corporate synergy.

Anyone but that wretched voice!
Hey, now, that's Grey Griffin.

Mickey Avenue? Re routing the Splash Mountain flume (the one silver lining I held onto in the face of this change)... things just keep getting better. What’s sad is I don’t even question these ridiculous rumors anymore. All the terrible ones come true.
