Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

At least... um, at least... The clueless Communications manager assigned to this project didn't put images of food on the construction walls.
I mean, looking on the bright side, it could have been worse? 🫤

Here’s just another example. Do they not know their customers? This is apparently supposed to get people excited? We’re getting rid of dozens of charming anthropomorphic animals but here’s a boy playing drums. Be excited. Lol

This thing is going to come to life and eat people working the night shift.
Honestly, they aren't giving anyone much to go on here. It does look like it's being replaced by a restaurant.

This logo and signage is the only thing shown on the construction walls on either coast. The "TIANA'S FOODS - EMPLOYEE OWNED Coming Soon" sign and the "Southern Dome Salt Company" company logo stamped onto the walls.

There appears to be no other communication or attempt at announcing a new ride based on Tiana coming to the space.

They shut down Splash Mountain and are replacing it with a restaurant - a reasonable assumption based on the communication.
Grandma Sarah's Kitchen is expanding globally I see.

Is the fact “Tiana’s Foods” is employee-owned so important that it needs to be plastered on the walls as some of the only information guests receive?

Looking at these particular photos, and the imagery, is ******** depressing.

When did Disney confirm that this was staying a Critter Country ride? This is not Splash Mountain. A BRIEF detail going into a character’s background is shocking jarring, despite the location of where the detail would be not even being shared? How is that rational? You read it, but it doesn’t seem you like took ten seconds to ponder on what you had actually read.

What’s rational about being upset about no animals, despite it being mentioned many times that there would be animals in the ride?

I know y’all will, and imma continue to call out the ridiculous posts. Got me using AAVE.

You surely have a lot invested in this reskin , how can YOU be objective?

It's sort of amusing seeing a poster continually get more riled up by this discussion than anyone else, yet continue to dismiss posters they disagree with as 'irrational' or 'tiring' or 'ridiculous'. I wish I had the kind of confidence to go through life knowing that any post that differs in opinion than my own must be ridiculous. I know I wouldn't have the energy to continue to reply to posters who are almost certainly beneath me, and not worth my time.

Isn't that baffling? And they've chosen to show absolutely no artwork of the actual ride being built for '24, just this faux food company logo.

I just can't believe the small number of things they are choosing to put out there as descriptors for this new E Ticket.
It's getting very weird.

2017 = "ON A REMOTE OUTPOST PLANET, NEW ADVENTURES AWAIT..." (Overlaid on dramatic action aerial image of entire land)
2023 = "Employee Owned" (Overlaid on generic 1930's food label)

Splash's music has been an integral part of that portion of the park- and its absence will be felt.

It's also poor show to not have an alternate music loop ready to go. Even something like bringing back the old Bear Country loop that predated Splash would have been awesome.

Agreed. That's just creepy now without any music whatsoever in the land and the bridge over from New Orleans/Harbor Galley area.

Surely they'll fix this mistake fast. Just loop in the existing New Orleans banjo music that's already playing next door.

Otherwise, it's just creepy at night. And rather sad, even in the daytime.

I remember reading reports around the time it opened that essentially wrote it off as some chintzy little ride that was better than Superstar Limo but not much else. Even now, you can find several videos that point out every reskinned SSL animatronic and recycled element, and I don't know that all of those come from a place of love.

I know I'm not imagining people complaining about Little Mermaid being a book report ride. Not saying there weren't/aren't other issues with the ride, but that was/is absolutely one of the top complaints.

It might just be a situation where people, over time, forget their original grievances and come to embrace imperfect elements of the park. Tarzan's Treehouse, for example, pretty much everywhere I followed Disney anything, was widely dismissed and insulted for being so cheap and inferior when compared to SFT for many of its early years, but eventually became mildly beloved. A similar thing happened with A Bug's Land. And the people who swear that everyone always loved the original Star Tours and people miss it? That's an example of the opposite situation. In reality, the only people I see complaining about that change are a handful of people on here, but in the years before they updated it, the ride was widely seen as outdated, and everyone and their mother online on boards like these was practically begging for the ride to get a big refresh.

I think some people just have short memories and/or like to rewrite history to suit their agenda.

In regards to Little Mermaid You’re not imagining things. Many people referred to it as book report ride after they heard Tony say it. Myself included I believe . But like anything else in life we learn more about subjects we’re passionate about through the years. I think the quote has been misused/ misinterpreted and people just ran with it. It’s not the content alone that makes a book report ride, it’s also the execution. The vast majority of people want to hear the songs and see the characters from whatever IP the ride is based on. They just don’t want it to be boring and for it to feel like they re passively watching the movie. There is a little gray area and nuance with these things.

Bugs Land wasn’t great and nobody loved it when it was here but now it’s gone and we see what it was replaced with. We miss the shade, foliage and Disney charm that it did have even if it was not among Disneys best.

It's just amazing how far the show has fallen. Disney knew for months that starting May 31, Splash would be down and they knew the area music was tied to Splash.

They have the New Orleans Square loop right next door. They have the old Bear Country loop that would delight fans as a nostalgic throwback. They have the Winnie the Pooh queue loop they could play in the land.

Instead, Park Ops has decided it's enough to leave it silent.

Isn't there a few quotes from old school WDI about the importance of area music?

This is the same WDI that doesn’t want to play Star Wars music in Star Wars land.

Awkward silence = immersion.
