Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

I've got my hopes up for this one. Just because Disneyland has a better track record than DCA, in my eyes. But ever since Mission Breakout, I've got my metaphorical shield up. Perpetually. Until I see something that makes me feel safe to lower it.

It’s one thing to be upset and critical, but what’s been going on in this thread is not exactly that. Not recently, at least. There were multiple posts of folks getting hung up over the announcement of brief WWI details that will be in the attraction…getting their undies caught in a bunch over something they said would be “touched on.” That’s just one example of the irrational commentary.

I’m not the only one who sees it.
I'm still shocked by them talking about World War 1 in a Disney attraction in critter country of all thing. It's genuinely jarring for myself and others.

I'm not here to be up in arms, I read that and it was shockingly strange to say the least. Sounds like I am not the only one. I'm not looking for things to be mad at.

How is commentary irrational if it's people's valid reactions?

I, as well as others, will continually laugh at Disney's parks blogs and PR posts whether it's Alberta Falls, Time Traveling Giftshop Owners, Fictional Couples that own a restaurant in DCA, or Hot Dog Days.

When did Disney confirm that this was staying a Critter Country ride? This is not Splash Mountain. A BRIEF detail going into a character’s background is shocking jarring, despite the location of where the detail would be not even being shared? How is that rational? You read it, but it doesn’t seem you like took ten seconds to ponder on what you had actually read.

What’s rational about being upset about no animals, despite it being mentioned many times that there would be animals in the ride?

I know y’all will, and imma continue to call out the ridiculous posts. Got me using AAVE.

I think it's fair to say that Critter Country will be different, if indeed it continues to exist once TBA opens.

Apparently the new Mark Twain narration mentions that TBA is a part of Critter Country. At least, for now. I would like the Critter Country name to remain even though the area is no longer "country" country, if that makes sense.

To me, TBA is going to add a much needed sense of thematic cohesion to the area (that has been missing since Pooh moved in). With Tiana, "Critter Country" transitions better than it ever did from New Orleans Square. -and between both her attraction and Pooh, the area delivers a full-on "Critter Fantasyland" vibe now. At least, I think it will.

Tiana's Bayou Adventure fits better in Critter Country then Winnie the Pooh because at least the animals that her and Naveen deal with are actual animals. Pooh and friends are stuffed animals they aren't really critters.

Here’s just another example. Do they not know their customers? This is apparently supposed to get people excited? We’re getting rid of dozens of charming anthropomorphic animals but here’s a boy playing drums. Be excited. Lol

Fair enough. Though I suppose when it comes to the realm of fantasy, I'm willing to put a child imagining their stuffed animals as actual critters at about the same level as singing alligators that can play the trumpet.

Edit: I realize that applying this logic to Splash's characters should yield the same effect. But for some reason, it being a remnant of "deep south Critter Country" that the area was originally intended to be (between it and Country Bears) made Splash sharing it's space with Pooh feel especially odd. With Splash leaving, I feel the previous characterization of the area can finally be laid to rest and a new one is being born. One welcoming of anything critter related or adjacent and leaning a bit more into the "magical" side of things.

Don't know why anyone would want to subscribe to a magazine that produces puff pieces.

Forbes does a lot more than puff pieces.

But all magazines do at least a few puff pieces. Even more earnest financial mags than Forbes, like The Economist does one or two per week.

Have you never subscribed to a magazine before? 🧐

No it’s exactly that. You just don’t like it and have already made up your mind that anyone who has an issue with the creative direction of TBA is only doing so because they are mad about Splash Mountain and is a hater.

I’m not the only who sees it.

I'm sorry but every time I explain something logically you choose to reply in anger.

Clearly you are not actually looking to listen and instead anyone with any criticism is a "hater" in your eyes.

I literally made my point clear and my intentions and this is how you respond? You either didn't read my post or purposefully chose not to listen.
Don't apologize. And I'm not angry, for the upteenth time

Yes, clearly I am not actually looking to listen and everyone is indeed a hater. Okay then. I read your message very clearly, multiple times, actually. I stand by what I said. Some of you are irrational in your responses. We will both continue to share our thoughts.

This bit from the latest Micechat article got a chuckle out of me:

"We sure do hope the messaging about this ride shifts to the good stuff soon because guests walking by these construction walls are confused. We heard more than one family talking about how upset they were that one of their favorite rides was being replaced by a restaurant."

Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant!

I will say this again, with gusto...

Whoever is in charge of the communications and public messaging on this Tiana ride redo needs to be replaced ASAP. The communication on this project is messy and nonsensical and is now just confusing and annoying to people. From puffy Parks Blog posts to official media press releases to the construction wall signage, the communications on this project is a disaster.

The person overseeing the communications for TBA needs to be replaced with someone who actually understands how Disneyland visitors interact with and approach the product of the park, and how those Disneyland customers want to experience things on their vacation or day off.

Honestly, they aren't giving anyone much to go on here. It does look like it's being replaced by a restaurant.

This logo and signage is the only thing shown on the construction walls on either coast. The "TIANA'S FOODS - EMPLOYEE OWNED Coming Soon" sign and the "Southern Dome Salt Company" company logo stamped onto the walls.

There appears to be no other communication or attempt at announcing a new ride based on Tiana coming to the space.

They shut down Splash Mountain and are replacing it with a restaurant - a reasonable assumption based on the communication.

I’m just impressed by the attention to detail with the authentic 1930’s graphic design and fonts.

If that were true, I would be responding to everyone who has expressed criticism regarding the announcements. I haven't, because not all of them have been irrational. I've only called out the ones that are ridiculous, and they've been coming from the same posters (*hint* you're one of them).

We can and will keep going.

Maybe it would be healthy to take a break? Don't mean this in an insulting way.
