As a 38 year old male, I just love a good story and execution. Snow White and Sleeping Beauty have incredible designs and sequences, but the films feel thin and aimless at times. Cinderella is 3/4 mice vs cat shenanigans. The title characters are also incredibly flat. Beauty and the Beast is an incredible piece of art, Tangled is a ton of fun, and Princess and the Frog begins incredibly well, then gets progressively worse scene by scene.
I don't think properties (other than stuff specifically aimed at toddlers) have age limits, its just whether they are compelling. And for attractions, its about the scale of the story matched with the attraction. Looking for a missing trumpet or ingredient could be a cute idea for a C-D level darkride. But for a massive E-ticket with thrills, it sounds a bit like the idea is too simplistic and juvenile for the attraction it is housed within.
Splash Mountain is cartoony and tells silly tales too, but there is still weight to the stories. Brer Rabbit is going to die. Brer Fox thinks the fall from Chickapin Hill into the briar patch will kill him.

Zero emphasis on nonsensical backstory

Gorgeous visuals
Sounds like the weird story none sense isn’t infiltrating the ride itself, and they’re doing exactly what they should. Ride through the Bayou with great music and advanced animatronic critters.

It's s May 31st, 2023, and Splash Mountain at Disneyland has sent its final log down to flume. The water stops running, the music stops and the lights go out. Br'er Rabbit, Br'er Fox and Br'er Bear stand in the darkness, accepting their fate to leave their home. Suddenly, a whistling cuts through the darkness. The three turn to see a familiar shape walking along the bank, fishing pole in hand. "U-uncle Remus?" asks Br'er Rabbit. "Wh-whatre you doin' here?" Remus smiles. "Well, I figures since you're all done here, how 'bout we go fishing?" And with that, whistling Zip a Dee Doo Dah, Remus guides the trio, hand in hand, into Yesterworld

Wow I had never really put that together but it makes a lot of sense. Funny that now the company has such a large collection of iconic legacy IP but has tunnel vision for a select few as far as the parks go. It's almost the opposite of what he described. I'm not a big advocate for IP in the parks but it's bizarre when they only go for recent films. Zootopia over Lion King in DAK comes to mind.

Where are those bookmarked posts about how this isn't closing at all?
Planning my snacks now for the social media (mostly Twitter) meltdown that will undoubtedly occur on May 31st. Seven weeks left. Definitely need that freshly popped Orville Redenbacher popcorn, some vegan chocolate chip cookies from Trader Joe’s, and a refreshing drink. Marking my calendar now.

Ken Potluck's plans to save splash by sending Jumping Jellyfish into 101 were leaked and ended up on Iger's desk.
Ken then decided to 101 the Golden Zephyr, but this time instead of a maintenance order he went in personally with a wrench to damage the ride in the dark of night.
The problem? Iger rides the Golden Zephyr alone some nights to get inspiration. Lets just say Mr Potluck was caught "Wrench Handed" and Iger is said to be VERY upset.
Is it closed today?
NO, IT ISN'T.
Therefore, it follows that it will never close.
