Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

I will probably never use the term “completely divorced” ever again. 😃

Regarding GWTW, “was fine” is not “is fine.”

They still have references in the park, and the change of attraction was for the mouse, not for Gone with The Wind.

And you shouldn't when it does not apply.

I overuse words like “seem” and “appear” in forums to avoid sounding like I’m any kind of expert. Also because I am a Jedi.

Fair enough. If that is your goal then maybe put them in areas like "It seems Disney closed it due to..." And in other similar areas, rather than just when addressing someone's counterpoint.

Social media is most likely the root of this happening now. But, seriously, again, The Walt Disney Company cannot, in 2023, continue to operate a Song of the South ride any more than any other major entertainment company could now open a Gone With the Wind ride.

Sure they could, there was no “controversy” surrounding Splash unless you actively went searching for it. It wasn’t harming the parks in any way with its constantly long lines and keeping it open wouldn’t have prevented anyone from going to the parks.

I’m convinced Disney chose Splash, rather than Peter Pan or Dumbo or any of the other rides with racist histories (by todays standards) solely on the fact it would be a cheap ride to redo and market as a “new” e-ticket.

I am certain they are doing this to avoid future controversy, both for the park, and for future careers. And, as much as I don’t like the bizarre backstory they seem to be concocting for the retheme, I think they’re genuinely trying to do something good here.

what do you have to say about it?
I've said plenty about it over the last 2.5 years.

On the recent blog post regarding the backstory, I'm ok with it contrived as it might be. Beyond some theming in the queue the backstory isn't likely to play much of a role in the overall experience, in my opinion. And will mostly be ignored by most guests, if we're being honest.

I sure hope this is the case. I’m actually hoping it’s as subtle as WDW Pleasure Island’s backstory, and that the ride is much more fantastical and whimsical… and that there’s SOME kind of drama that involves more than a recipe.

Nope.

That Guy said Tiki was going away completely.

The Moana addition predates his rebuffed 'leak' and had many insiders saying it was a thing being considered.
I remember when he claimed to have insight to the rumors… I was thinking what is he talking about… I heard rumors about Moana taking over the Tiki room as a possible idea and then heard they decided against it… this is all quite awhile before he mention the supposed repurposing

Edit: Just wanted to add I am no insider and saw that rumor bouncing around somewhere…I forget where…but it was well before he mentioned…So I am thinking does he even have any sources other that what he finds on the internet and after that lost any credibility with me

He joined in with the "Moana coming to Tiki" rumors because it was indeed being considered by WDW.

But he also 'broke' the news that Tiki was going to be completely replaced. That's how he got called out by Disney for passing on "unscrupulous" rumors.

I told my brother in law on our last trip, riding Splash right now is like visiting a loved one in hospice.

700 million on capex cut, all American attractions at Disney will have that showmanship soon.

lol yeah maybe we’re getting carried away. That Avatar experience is going to be a meet n greet. Except they’ll just invite us guests to dress like Navi and mingle amongst each other at Pixie Hollow.

You'd have to be more than just a high-ranking cast member to know the back and forth of Board members. Might as well be a bus driver. ;)

Well in all fairness it’s just the DL board, not the board of the entire company.

Who's on the Disneyland Board?

Hey, @zipadee999, you haven't answered my question. After correcting me that I had the wrong board, I asked about who is on this supposed Disneyland board you're talking about. I don't know of a DL board. This is the first I'm hearing about it. So, who is on this DL board you speak of?
