For what it's worth, the tree was directly from Song of the South. I assume that was a motivator in getting rid of it.I feel like they could have gotten away with keeping the original Splash Mountain tree as the weenie. Just add the colorful bottle lights and it already feels like a nice update. The water tower just feels like it’s taking over. Maybe they could have scaled it down and added a small forced perspective water tower towards the top of the mountain. In my opinion, the giant tower kind of makes the overall “mountain” feel much smaller, but maybe that’s what they were going for…
I get it. And I agree, it wasn’t in your face. At least this new store is blending in with the rest of the buildings. It doesn’t stick out like a store in Toontown or Fantasyland would, very obviously IP. I agree that Main Street feels a little more IP.
Frontierland is truly the only one with no IP. We’ll see how long that lasts.
Oh god, I remember those years. Sad that we have to hope for movies to bomb so Disney doesn’t go in and ruin things. Sad!It’s not for lack of effort! If Lone Ranger or Oz The Great and Powerful had taken off, they’d have been represented in Frontierland in big ways. So thank God they didn’t.
Now that Disney has the IP from the Fox purchase, and three songs from the movie are already part of its BGM, Main Street is going to become "Hello Dollywood!"I agree that Main Street feels a little more IP.
Correct. We still don't have a closing date for Splash Mountain, right?
Any chance you could expand on what was actually planned for those? Most I ever really heard was them taking over the old Ranch area, making use of land that became part of Galaxy's Edge, but not much by way of specifics. Since they're never happening I'm sure we would all love to know what might have been! It’s not for lack of effort! If Lone Ranger or Oz The Great and Powerful had taken off, they’d have been represented in Frontierland in big ways. So thank God they didn’t.
I’d not be concerned. Based on the photos I’m seeing from the expo, I think there’s at least a 50% chance that everyone is interpreting backstory and theming about her restaurant as indicating an actual restaurant is coming. Nothing in the wording of the displays says there’s an actual restaurant coming. Until I see other information that specifically states a physical restaurant and location, I’m skeptical.I’m concerned about where Tiana’s Palace is going. I guess they’ll mention it during the actual presentation.
So the folks that were there and were told that a restaurant is coming potentially misunderstood?I’d not be concerned. I wouldn't mind if they stuck it back somewhere by Pooh's Corner. I have to assume that area will be given some sort of revision anyway.I’m concerned about where Tiana’s Palace is going. I guess they’ll mention it during the actual presentation.

Let it be Hungry Bear, even though I don’t want it to be that restaurant either. Better that or French Market over Cafe Orleans.I wouldn't mind if they stuck it back somewhere by Pooh's Corner. I have to assume that area will be given some sort of revision anyway.
I would mind if it took over Cafe Orleans or The French Market. Please don't let it be that.
