Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

I vote for French Market. It has a building that's big enough to support a facade retheme, plus a patio with bandstand that can host jazzy entertainment. Also a menu that is usually forgettable and needs help.

I know what you are saying. I generally agree.

Bravo to you for asking! I really admire you for that. :)

I think what you may be running up against is the typical Disneyland cultural issue. I believe your British accent instantly brands you as a non-local. And Disneyland is inherently local to SoCal, with a bunch of other fans who live in the Western US states who vacation here regularly and thus get the local culture and vibe. While there's a subtle difference between a Seattleite and a San Diegan, they share a basic bedrock West Coast culture, and there's a more dramatic difference between a New Yorker or Floridian and a Californian. I'm a native West Coaster, but I lived on the East Coast for many years and also know the WDW scene. The Disneyland scene is dramatically different than the WDW scene. Your videos, through no fault of your own, sound distinctly non-local to us. And I'm not just talking about the British accent, but the overall tone. It's so hard to describe, but it's there.

I'm not sure there's anything you can do about it however. Although, it would be really funny if you poked fun at us Californians a bit and tried this accent on for a laugh or two... 🤣

I also vote for the French Market
Doesn't it already have a stage outside?

I think the easiest way to say it is that it's not you, it's me. Your channel has a professional look and provides great info from what I've seen but it doesn't work for me.

Totally understandable. I just wanted to see if there were any areas in which I could improve. Thanks for the response.

I personally love your videos. And I am not shy to share my opinions.

You seem like one of the more down-to-earth bloggers I’ve seen and while I do sense you hold back on your critique of the current TWDC leadership (which is understandable) I think that’s because of the news update format and the fact you still share info in a refreshing way that comes across as a “just the facts” straightforward delivery which is convenient way to digest information without the editorialization. Though I also like your in-depth armchair imagineering videos, too.

Keep the videos coming and know you can’t please everyone!
Thanks for the kind words. I do hold back on heavy critique of TWDC executives in the News-centric portions of the videos. As I feel there is already enough blurring of lines between opinion and fact in the journalistic approach nowadays. Look at any "news" channel in the US, and most have hour long programs of people's opinions masquerading as hard news programs. Likewise, within the Disney news sphere, there are so many doing Disney news now that do 90% unsubstantiated opinion, instead of it being analysis backed by research.

I am actually going to launch a new series called DSNY Uncut, which will be more opinion and the name will reflect that. Newscast will be news, Uncut will be opinion.

Yeah, the accent helped me stand out to begin with, but it may also be holding me back, not like I can do anything about it.

But I agree the other thing is the tone. I can't do the overly enthusiastic, smiley persona in my videos that I feel comes across as fake and disingenuous, especially when the topic doesn't warrant it. I saw others discussing layoffs and covid stats during the pandemic, and then would smile and sign off in a happy tone. It was weird to watch. Since the pandemic I approach things with a more serious manner, and I prefer that.

Hey Jack I enjoy your videos! Many vloggers are way over the top with cartoon voices and are enthusiastic about every.single.thing. This is not you. The Only issue I see is that you’re not making enough videos.
That is very true on all accounts. I don't do fake enthusiasm, at least not anymore. Since the pandemic there hasn't been a ton to be overly enthusiastic about to be honest. I try to see the silver lining, but not fake enthusiasm.

You're right I SHOULD be making more videos, but being honest, sometimes it's a struggle, as I don't want to make a mountain from a molehill. So many of the topics are so petty and insignificant, which leave me constantly searching for more to sink my teeth into.

I don't tend to watch Disney "youtubers" but checked out your channel and thought it was great and very well done. I like that you have a natural tone (seems people are either too angry or too enthusiastic these days) and the nice editing you do.

Great to have a real personality and not a cartoon voice talking about how speciality churros are magical or how Chapek is evil.

Is it weird that I read this whole post in your voice?

I see what you re saying but I wouldn’t overthink it and just make more content. Those of us on the YouTube vlog circuit don’t really care. It’s just a diversion, sometimes just in the background. If it’s decent content people will watch. It doesn’t always have to be super produced or earth shattering content.

But she has been a big part of DL’s princess scene for years and years.

There’s no pretending.

Featured amongst the princesses during World Of Color.

In Magic Happens (when it was running) and Soundsational before that.

Was the big final scene in Mickey and the Magical Map.

On the Mark Twain during Fantasmic.

Often found in New Orleans Square to greet guests.

The only hiatus she had was during the closure of Disneyland due to covid… with the rest of the characters.

People have been making up things, especially since Disney’s most recent announcement regarding this project.

To be honest I never even saw the movie back when it came out but I do remember the fact that Tiana has been in the parks pretty consistently even though initially people claimed the movie failed at the box office and was the final nail in the coffin for Disney no longer making more 2D drawn animated movies. I remember seeing her in parades and walking around and in commercials, she has been prominent whether people want to admit it or not.
