Like we get it... you don't like the change.

But stop acting like Tiana was non-existent in the parks prior to the 2020 announcement.
Right. And even I would prefer the ride to stay as is, but I’ve accepted that that’s not happening. Making up issues gets folks nowhere. One could argue that some of the princesses are lacking representation in the parks, but Tiana isn’t one of them.

But she has been a big part of DL’s princess scene for years and years.

There’s no pretending.

There was the big push in '09 for her movie, with that absolutely fabulous river show they did on the Mark Twain that summer. That Tiana show was some of my favorite entertainment Disneyland has done this century, second only to Viva Navidad and Paint The Night.

Then in 2011, when her movie was still only 2 years old, they had a float for her in Soundsational.

But since then? They haven't really featured her in any night spectacular or stage show or water show or new parade. She got forgotten in major Disneyland entertainment until... now. But they've got to pump her back up and make her a thing again. I can't blame them, but it seems pandering. 🤔

I guess I just find it eye-rolling and embarassing for them because the music from that movie was just so wonderful, and they had real magic with that Mark Twain river show back in '09. And they forgot about her for the most part until Bob Iger had to pretend there was a plan to remake Splash Mountain (when there really wasn't a plan to do that when he announced it suddenly).

Featured amongst the princesses during World Of Color.

In Magic Happens (when it was running) and Soundsational before that.

Was the big final scene in Mickey and the Magical Map.

On the Mark Twain during Fantasmic.

Often found in New Orleans Square to greet guests.

The only hiatus she had was during the closure of Disneyland due to covid… with the rest of the characters.

Yeah, but you can say the same thing about Aurora or that Tangled girl or the brunette from Frozen.

Disneyland literally has a land called New Orleans Square that likes to pretend it has great restaurants. But they never gave Tiana so much as a theme park snack bar, much less turn French Market into Tiana's Palace.

At least on the Disney Cruise Line they gave her a restaurant. I wanted Disneyland to embrace her and really celebrate her, but she got shuffled down to the second tier. Even though New Orleans Square was just sitting there, screaming out for a Tiana location and celebration. Ah well. At least she's being brought back into the Top Tier fold again.

Still seems late and pandering to me. But I'm glad they are reversing course with her. Finally.

Here's two pieces of good news though...

1. At least our Splash Mountain retheme sits next to New Orleans Square and will seem more natural and purposeful. The version they've got brewing out at WDW, sitting next to Big Thunder and in the middle of Frontierland, is a stinky dumpster fire of thematic failure. 😨

2. It's a gorgeous summer Friday, and it's only 30 minutes until the Cocktail Hour kicks off the weekend! Cheers! :D 🍸

My gosh, STOP calling this pandering. You have zero room to talk about what pandering to black people does and doesn’t look like.

She is solidly represented in the parks, and has been since 2009. People have already provided examples of this. Either you haven’t been paying attention or you’re sincerely just now finding this out.

Okay, wait, wait. If Tiana has already been well-represented in the parks, why is Disney acting like this retheme is all about giving Tiana representation?

Both to eliminate the last trace of Song of the South, and to represent Tiana.
Uh huh. And why, exactly, would they want to represent the main character from a movie that they brushed off as a flop because it didn't make as much money as they were hoping and dubbing its flopping "proof" that hand-drawn animated films are dangerous?

They’ve literally never brushed off PatF. Ever. But that’s what you want to believe.

I hope we get the Tiana's Palace restaurant in addition to the Splash Mountain retheme. With the Disney Plus Tiana series coming out next year, I think there will be a major push for the Tiana character.

BTW, just an FYI, hand-drawn 2D animation is making a come back at Disney:

As others have said, Tiana’s been nicely represented in the parks for years. And her story’s bayou locale is a perfect fit to retheme a log flume that I’m pretty sure Tony Baxter has long since wished he’d originally themed to Robin Hood.

Hard disagree.

Snow White's refurb was exactly what the attraction needed. Some spooky elements still remain, it has a far more satisfying climax and ending, and has utilized modern elements nicely.

And by most accounts, the refurb has been praised by the majority.

I am sorry you don't like the changes, but I think the ride is much improved.
I despise the changes to the second half. They removed all the excitement and fun and turned it into baby food. Walt knew kids love to be safely scared by entertainment. That was the sole reason the Snow White ride was created in the first place.

Got nothing but praise for the new mine section, though.

I mean, it’s a fair opinion and feeling you have. I won’t take that away from you.

But I love what they did 😅

100% We have seen a lot more Tiana than Aurora or even Cinderella. Disney has been making an effort for more representation in the past decade or so and they don't have a ton of characters to utilize, so Tiana has been consistently utilized
