I love your post. That's allThere are multiple reasons we didn’t get a retelling of the story here but in general I’d say WDI needs to understand that when it comes to IP people want the characters, settings and story beats from the source material. It doesn’t have to be a direct scene by scene retelling of the story but you need to have those familiar elements. TBA is barely reminiscent of PatF. If you are going to stray far away from the source material then you better make sure the execution is great. Indy and Star Tours aren’t direct retellings of any of the movies. They just took many of the elements of those movies that made them great and included them on the attraction. Specifically elements that are exciting and translate into a fun attraction. Co Op- test kitchens with no bad guys, no stakes that is missing all the adventure and two of the best songs from the movie isn’t exciting.
The tension comes from the fact she and Louis are distracted imbeciles.I do agree that a huge thrill ride should have some tension, though. How should they deal with the tension without him and without doing the movie? Good question. I'm going to go with "should have thought of that before they began this stupid idea".
I guess you can make of this what you wish but since I’ve been here you have 1 seconds to get into the 1pm drop for guardians. You can get into Tiana’s whenever you want.
If this failure doesn’t end up generating enough $$$ in LL maybe we get a re-theme sooner than we expect.
Yeah, I've had similar dismissals for reporting the same. Facilier is a problematic character and Disney is aware, so they left him out. Just like they did with Uncle Remus. Because that solved all their problems for Splash/SOTS.I’ve said before and have been shot down by people saying I’m wrong but they’re very wary of using Facilier in anything from fear of backlash over racism. Especially something as permanent as an attraction. You’ll notice he’s not in the DHS villains show either and there’s no suggestion he’ll be part of the MK land.
I understand your point. Personally I did not ride Splash to cool off. I rode Splash because it was the greatest themed attraction on planet Earth.I think at least some of that is due to the weather. It's much colder than usual in Florida right now -- the potential of getting wet when it's in the 50s or low 60s is not very appealing.
I personally think Tiana looks like a significant downgrade from Splash, but definitely need to consider all of the factors like weather.
Same. I rode Splash in all weathers because I loved the attraction. If I wanted to get wet and look at pretty but empty scenery, I'd ride GRR.I understand your point. Personally I did not ride Splash to cool off. I rode Splash because it was the greatest themed attraction on planet Earth.
I would have rode Splash in Subzero temps if it was possible.
A ride this new in the MK should have endless lines for at least the first 1-2 years.
Still have to wait at least an hour for SDMT. Lines for Tron are very long even though you blink and the ride is over.
I guess we can wait to judge until warmer temps but I think the are not going to get the $$$$ they where hoping for out of Tiana’s.
I am far from a duster (I know the dusters are blaming the weather, but I don’t recall any other VQ attraction having this little demand. To @Trauma ’s point, this attraction is less than a year old? Comparatively speaking the much more intense rides like CR and Tron are far more difficult to get years into their existence.
I'm definitely not a duster but I will say that on cold days in the past splash mountain would have a short wait time And right now Florida just went through a series of very cold days. When it's warmer the line will be long again. Promise. You can take that to the bank. And this is someone who doesn't approve of the changes. But the short lines you're seeing right now is not a sudden and drastic drop in the log rides popularity.I know the dusters are blaming the weather, but I don’t recall any other VQ attraction having this little demand. I always laugh when people say "but Facilier's dead" or "but the ride takes place after the film" as if Disney was forced to deal with these circumstances rather than acknowledging that Disney is the one who created the circumstances. The ride didn't have to take place after. That was something Disney chose to do.
"I wish I didn't have to eat my desert before dinner. I always get too full and never get to enjoy my steak." Uh...you're the one choosing to do the weird thing.
I just dont get it. It is racist to have a person of color as a villain? Or because he is attached to voodoo? They could downplay the voodoo if they want. Lets face it: most of the classic Disney villains are white. I was so excited to see diversity when Facilier came out. He is deliciously evil and he felt like a breath of fresh air when the movie debuted. Now he gets sidelines because fans may react poorly? They also might love to see one of the best villains from the last 20 years being given his due.I’ve said before and have been shot down by people saying I’m wrong but they’re very wary of using Facilier in anything from fear of backlash over racism. No, its not racist to have a person of color as a villain. But his entire character is a racial stereotype. The evil voodoo man who works with dark spirits/demons to try and attack those in power. This depiction of "voodoo" isn't based on anything realistic nor does it resemble the religion practiced by people in the region. This depiction rather is what white writers created to sensationalize fears of Black cultures. They were depicted as hedonistic savages who worked with the devil and performed human sacrifices. This way white people could feed justified in their fear of them, as well as give them the ability to attack Black Americans because they were obviously "harmful" and "dangerous." Lovecraft is pretty universally regarded as problematic and racist. And is so because of depictions like this.I just dont get it. It is racist to have a person of color as a villain?
