MK Tiana’s Bayou Adventure SPOILER Thread

that sounds completely wrong... The Land is about the land and modern farming techniques, not trying to find a band at Tiana's Co-Op Farm and foods factory....I think it would be dreadful.....and trhen you would have to reconcile that with the other attractions in the Pavilion... Soarin' over the Bayou? Nah... Tiana has all the attraction that IP needs....Unless they do something with Facilier in the Villain's section.....

I want to ride it in Disneyland one day but as I said in another thread I just rode this at WDW for the first time. Reusing basically all the buildings, painting them, changing the furniture just doesn’t work to me. I wish they had built new areas for the queue. The last animatronic did not work on the ride when I rode it. I personally also just did not like the screens, it’s the most jarring thing, at the end it was very obvious the background characters in the house were a video.

I get they have a budget but I wish the building in the finale was fully fleshed out and not just half sticking out. It’s a kids ride at the end of the day so it’s not like Disney cares about what they could have built. I just hope Villains land has no cuts in budget. But even that I guess will be a dream.

You couldn't be more wrong......

Welcome to the imagineering team! YOU'RE HIRED! :D
First. LOL.
While I'm not a fan of this new premise, the story presented on Tiana's Bayou Adventure seems to fit better with the overall theme of Living with the Land. Again, I LOVE LIVING WITH THE LAND.

Let's set aside the original concept featuring the animal band and instead focus on Tiana showcasing her garden and educating us about the food industry. Imagine Mardi Gras celebration at the end, featuring delicious dishes made from her garden.

Personally, I wish there was less focus on IP in Epcot, but my point is the current story makes me think Living with the Land.
Again, I'm not advocating for this change. Also the new Tiana's Bayou Adventure. There are parts I really like. And some areas I wish were different or had more of.

After following the ride opening closely on this forum months ago, finally got a chance to ride this week.

First time was with my son, as my wife and daughter chickened out. We both loved it. The music is great, and all the animatronics were working. We did stop for about a minute at one point, though. Whole area is beautiful at nighttime.

My son complained about one of the drumming animatronics not syncing with the beat.

Convinced by my son, all four of us rode it the next morning. I missed the nighttime view, but everyone enjoyed the ride and would happily do it again if/when we return in a couple of years.

Finally rode this, my thoughts remain largely the same. A fun log flume but doesn’t live up to Splash Mountain. Not necessarily a “bad” experience it has some good elements. Secret Spice and Going down the bayou scenes were strong. Miss the Laughin’ Place. Story complaints remain the same.

Lots of the AA’s had difficulties today.

It's the thing of sensors knowing when a log is near to activate the AAs. Great idea for a flume ride. Tiana needs this to explain the plot as go along. Not so Splash.

I truly believe Facilier could vastly improve this ride and it would not even be that difficult.

To provide a sense of dread, let Mama Odie warn you that strange things have been happening in the bayou and we should be careful going back at night. Then as you ride along they add more animals to fill out some sparse places.

The video with Mama Odie warns you to not go further (where she now shrinks you).

Imagine the drop down. “You’re in my world now, not your world, and I got friends on the other side! “ You add Facilier to the video screens talking to us or Tiana about how he wants revenge. Climb the hill with “Are you Ready?” And the Mama Odie AA before the drop says something about saving you or good winning over evil. Then boom- drop.

The sense of dread and coherent story are missing from this ride. My idea is not a total win but would be a relatively easy way to improve this ride (that I did enjoy).

And to combat the inevitable "but Facilier's dead!" (so's Ray?), use his shadow. It's his spirit. It's literally part of the movie and cheaper than another AA. Projections of the other shadows/demons on the lift hill. Best song in the movie gets a nod. People are happier with the results. Cats and dogs can live together.

Agree. I wish they had just told the story. You know like the Peter Pan Attraction, the Snow White attraction, the Pinocchio (@DL) attraction, the Alice in wonderland (also @DL) attraction, none of these are telling the story about what happened after the movie. They're all retelling the movie or major parts of the movie. I feel as though Tiana's bayou adventure should have done the same thing. Personally I would have really appreciated seeing Tiana in her princess dress from the movie, because that to me is the quintessential princess Tiana and that version is not even in her own attraction. :(

There are multiple reasons we didn’t get a retelling of the story here but in general I’d say WDI needs to understand that when it comes to IP people want the characters, settings and story beats from the source material. It doesn’t have to be a direct scene by scene retelling of the story but you need to have those familiar elements. TBA is barely reminiscent of PatF. If you are going to stray far away from the source material then you better make sure the execution is great. Indy and Star Tours aren’t direct retellings of any of the movies. They just took many of the elements of those movies that made them great and included them on the attraction. Specifically elements that are exciting and translate into a fun attraction. Co Op- test kitchens with no bad guys, no stakes that is missing all the adventure and two of the best songs from the movie isn’t exciting.

I always laugh when people say "but Facilier's dead" or "but the ride takes place after the film" as if Disney was forced to deal with these circumstances rather than acknowledging that Disney is the one who created the circumstances. The ride didn't have to take place after. That was something Disney chose to do.

"I wish I didn't have to eat my desert before dinner. I always get too full and never get to enjoy my steak." Uh...you're the one choosing to do the weird thing.

It’s hubris.

They could have told a “book report” ride while minimizing the frog phase. Or pick up the ride five minutes after the film ended - not fast forwarded to the era of this D+ series that has been stuck in development heck for years.
