No. Saying "Splash Mountain is the best ride in WDW is an opinion." However saying the "Tiki Room is the most popular ride in WDW" is not an opinion in can be proven one way of another in this case wrong. If I say "the sky is green" that not an opinion.

Well, it's an opinion, no matter how incorrect. I think you are like me and base the MERIT of an opinion on whether it's based on generally accepted facts or not.

(Observe, if you will.)

Darrel, I disagree with your comment that Philharmagic is just like HISTA. Personally, I thought Philharmagic was one of the most engaging and creative shows on all of WDW property...all 6 times I saw it. I feel you are overgeneralizing by comparing the two shows. Although you certainly have a right to feel that way, I disagree 100 percent.

(See how that works, everybody?)

Exactly! I disagree with Wilt, but that is ok he has a right to his opinion and I don't call Wilt names or say that he is ignorant just because he has a differant opinion then I do, infact I think Wilt is a great guy!

What about Jungle Cruise? Space Mtn? Peter Pan? IaSW? You can name about 90% of the "wonderfully imagineered classic attractions" and they do not have elaborate queues and most do not have much of a theme at all. So, any "themed" queue is above and beyond the classic attractions of yesterday.

You're saying that 90% of attractions, not me. And if you go back a bit, you'll see that I have compared to the Fantasyland attractions, which have very disappointing queues.

But again, we'll have to agree to disagree. After all, that's what makes this a discussion forum. I'm not trying to preach or to change anyone's ideas about the subject, I simply stated my opinion.

 Lately, many threads have called the posters' attentions to pie, or to "How about them Mets?", and it shouldn't be like that. We all should be able to understand and accept eachother's opinions and keep to the subject discussed.

I don't know if that was directed at me or not, but I never called anyone a name nor did I say you were ignorant.

Disney has set such a high standard in the past for theme park entertainment that it's difficult to stay ahead of the curve now more than ever. A look at Universal Studios has seen them catch up with Disney in many respects. Disney builds the interactive Space Ranger Spin, Universal responds with their E-Ticket version, Men in Black, Alien Attack. Universal opens the long anticipated Mummy Ride, Disney responds with Expedition Everest. Shrek 4D can be paired with PhilHarmagic and although I've never been on Spider man over at IOA, I assume that it could be paired up with Soarin.

The competition to one up the competition is higher than ever as Universal and Disney compete for tourist dollars...
Universal Creative Vice President, Scott Trowbridge had the following to say on The Revenge of the Mummy - The Ride: “We have to raise the bar with each experience to make sure it’s something our guests can’t get anywhere else in the world. They come to our theme parks expecting one-of-a-kind experiences – and we have to deliver.”

I hate to jump in the middle of this testosterone match but here is what Webster has to say:

Opinion--1. a belief not based on absolute certainty or positive knowledge but on what seems true, valid, or probable to one's own mind; what one thinks; judgment.
2. An evaluation, impression, or estimation of the quality or worth of a person or thing.

Darrel's opinion is his based on his knowledge and views.

No. Not at all. Spiderman has 3D film with moving motion base vehicles with live set pieces and other effects (fireballs anyone?). It is by far my favorite ride in all of Orlando, and unfortunately, in my OPINION it blows away everything at WDW. Why? The movie theater phone number (407-224-1783).

That isnt really true at all. Nasa had very little to do with Mission Space. They had a few advisory people consulting to WDI, thats about it. Most of it was done for PR reasons, to give MS more credibility. The concept for Mission Space was done by Eddie Sotto and Terry Coolidge, both of WDI. The ride was then developed in partnership between WDI and ETC, with ETC doing the ride system fabrication. WDI then did all of the show, much of the installation on site, and all of the testing.

On a side note...I was at ETC over the summer with an enginnering summer course. It was so cool. I asked a lot of questions about Mission: Soace, and I learned one very interesting thing. ETC designed the entire centerfuge system. WDI had sent them a proposed idea that was impossible, so ETC had to design a completely new ride system before construction started.

But back on topic. Some nice rumors, especially the LS one.

happy

Happy to hear that WDW will restore the Epcot and MK rides. We've seen IASW, The Land and now The Living Seas get some attnetion. Now the PotC ride. Lets hope HM, SE, and JII are not far behind.

I just hope that whenever they consider outsourcing for "cheaper" costs, they recognize that often that is what they get: cheaper. Not always, but many times. Loyalty and depth of understanding of a corporate culture and mission cannot be outsourced.

I am not against contracting out certain irregular or mundane things, but too much outsourcing at Disney will undermine the very things that make it distinctive.

And the argument has been made before that Disney looks good on a resume: so it does not help the company to train folks and then lay them off (or create an environment that makes them leave), only to have them take their training and skills to the competitor.

Cyclical business (and some layoffs with it) I understand, but I do think that Disney should do its best to be descriminate in that, and to do the best it can to keep good talent and keep up the environment that engenders creativity and a depth of Disney distinctives.

But you are missing his point.
Yes he disagrees with me 100%, but doesn't go around and attacking people and calling them stupid or ignorant just for having an opinion that is differant then mine.

Can you tell me where I called you stupid? I simply said that your post was ignorant. I never called you stupid.

As per Steve's request to keep things civil, I now bow out of this facet of discussion, as I don't want this to escalate further.

WDI layoffs: Terrible News

That off the shelf rides comment was great.

Nemo at the living seas news: *sigh* I'm still not looking forward to this at all.

POTC rehab: Best news I've heard all day! I was hoping that they would redo the unloading dock. The backups are night mares. You can get stuck in the jail scene for a long time. Does this mean that they might open up a going up the waterfall effect like at DL for the lift? That would be great! :sohappy:
