Hate Disney for Doing

HHHMMMMMM having just come back from a week at the Polynesian and a week on the Magic, I can honestly say thank God for Walt Disney and Eisner and anyone else associated with the organization. I have always loved Disney and the Disney Cruise, etc, etc. I don't know what I would do without it. It is still the only place in the world that make my husband and I and my two adult kids feel like little kids again. Maybe it is alittle dustier, maybe their are attractions I would have liked to seen stay but that feeling I get when I go there, it just can't be matched!!!! I honestly, don't know what I would do, if it weren't there at all. It makes me sane!

That tent was more themed to Dinoland than that trash they have there now.

Least in the tent you could search for dino bones. and they get rid of something that actually delt with the theming of the area, for that garbage?

They still have dino bones there just outside of the Dinosaur ride.

Cleanliness has definatley declined in the past year. While in line for Pooh last week, I found 2 dirty diapers in the corner. Can you say GROSS! We had to tell someone at the park or it would have stayed there until they realized it.

Dismissal of the 2003 Osborne Lights < very bitter about

In reference to my original post concerning "the dismissal of the 2003 Osborne Lights." I am dissappointed in Disney for the so called "extra" Christmas magic they thought would be suitable at MGM to fill some of the void left by the absence of the Lights. And what "extra" did they do--how about dress characters up in Christmas clothes and have each character only out for 7-10 minute intervals. Especially with all the crowds during Christmas week, you love to wait in line to get the picture with a dressed up Disney character (which is how they should be dressed regardless in most parks during this special Christmas time--not just b/c they need something special to fill in for the Lights) and then be turned away b/c the character must leave now, "Sorry folks, <insert character name here> only has time for one more picture."

That's a fair replacement for no Osborne Ligts. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

And, as we already knew, the merchandise in the new expanded Emporium that took away the beautifully quaint Flower Market is def. unique to that store and that store only and is not sold anywhere else on Disney property.:p Riiiiiiiiiiight!!:xmas:

My vote for things I hate Disney for doing is dumbing down the product. What is with all these straight to video sequels??? It's as if they didn't have confidence in their own people to produce new stories and new characters. I get the impression that there is an overdependence on Pixar to bring in those new stories and characters while using the traditional Disney studio to provide all the "junk" material to flood their shelves to make a fast buck. Definitely an example of Disney choosing quantity over QUALITY.

The worst thing about this example is not Disney, but the scumbag(s) who dumped the diapers (nappys to us in the UK) there in the first place.

Disappointed maybe, but I really don't 'hate' Disney for anything, especially decisions or changes that affect the day-to-day operations of the parks. But, looking at the big picture, I've always questioned the wisdom of building Euro-Disney in France. Also, the Animal Kingdom would not have been my choice for a fourth park! I often wonder when these two decisions were made, what were the other options available to them at the time, and have their choices lived up to their expectations.

Personally I love Animal Kingdom.

As regards building Euro Disney in France, I believe the choice may have been influenced by the French government assisitng the project. I don't have the details, but I think they got the land dirt cheap. I think there are other European countries with better weather, but they would have cost considerably more.

I strongly dislike Disney for even THINKING of touching Spaceship Earth...unless it was to get rid of that wand.

I hate them for putting up the wand in the first place, along with the stupid hat at MGM. Most of all, I hate them for getting rid of Horizons and the Skyway :fork:

Let me take a guess. Looks like the musical Barnum? If so, I've played that role too! (as well as Tom Thumb )

Walt loved animals. He always talked about animals in the Animal kingdom (no reference to a park though). So I think that building AK was mainly due to Walt's love for animals. Personaly I love AK and think it's getting better with each new attraction being built. The Dinorama area took a while to get used to, but think about it. No one has ever seen a dinosaur. They are in history books and stuff so the whole area is made up from stories. The Imagineers wanted to make Dinorama look like a roadside tourist area from the late 50's and 60's. That's also why you see the parking lines on the ground (they were made to look like that). It's just a whimsicle little area that you can have fun in. It's also small enough that it can be removed if it doesn't bring in the popularity that they want. They are just trying new things.

Hate is a very strong word but I see what you are saying. I too hated to see Horizons go. That was my favorite ride of all. SE is another one. It's a classic now and the staple image of EPCOT. As for the hat, I think they wanted to add an Icon for MGM (as if the watertower wasn't one already) and thats why the hat was placed there, its cute but in a bad spot. I just wish it would have been move closer to the entrance.

I wonder if they will make an Icon for Tokyo Disney Seas. I big crab or a giant wave maybe?

You are correct! Tom Thumb's number was the only time I was not onstage during the production. A year or so later I was crew on a youth production. The only time I made it onto the stage was during the Tom Thumb number (inside the chair) :)

The Worst:

20,000 Leauges into nothing into "Ariel's Hidden Grotto" :hurl:

No more Mr. Toad!

Building Carribean Beach (I'm sorry but of all the Moderate resorts, this one seems too big, and under themed, I was not near as happy here than at PO.

The Best:

Turning a swampland into paradise :D

ToT version 4

And a more obscure one: Ice Station Cool (Free drinks instead of $2.50 drinks? I love it!)

UGHHHH!!!

This one hurts and hit below my belt and took my breath away. To our family, Caribbean Becah is the ultimate of the moderates, sprawling and quiet, larger rooms, more themeing than the others, and extra colorful with very vibrant sights, sounds, and smells.

But to each his own.

The symbol of TDS is a massive globe fountain thing.Don't mock TDS, it's the best Disney park that's opened in the past 4 years.

I'm not an expert on anything but Disney World, so I'm most likely wrong, but isn't that the only park that's opened within the past 4 years?

Am I missing something? What did 'Dumbo 3' cost to make? If it cost more than $2M I'd be surprised. And Primeval Whirl, while fun, seems pretty inexpensive. I'll even give it $10M to design and build. Where'd the other $38M go? The trailers for the midway games????

I think the whole thing looks out of place. Throw out the trailers, throw down some grass seed and shrubbery and throw up a building around Primeval Whirl, then it will at least resemble a Disney property.

Nevertheless, my kids love it.

Primeval whirl probably cost a lot less than $10 million...its not a custom design....That ride is HORRIBLE. Disney needs to take time with AK and bring high quality attractions to it. That entire park has a cheap feel to it. While the theming is dead on in the park...its maybe too spot on and makes it confusing and cheap looking

You are forgetting Disney's California Adventure ( ), the Walt Disney Studios (Paris), and... I think that's it!
