Not at all. They've proven that they make mistakes, just the same as everyone else does.

It seems strange to suggest that this creates a lack of respect for the rules, when most of the people claiming this, had a documented disrespect for the rules prior to these incidents.

The unfortunate reality is, when the restrictions are working and daily virus infections decrease, people tend to think it's safe to resume normal life. That just ends up causing infections to spike, and of course as people see their friends and family become infected, they start taking precautions seriously again.

The less people pay attention to the virus, the more death and destruction it will cause, until respect is once again demanded.

As long as the leadership in California is making Marie Antoinette look down to earth, it's not going to change. Was in socal this past few days, and if anything it seemed busier after the LA "lockdown" the other day.

How scary can the virus be to people if all these officials and experts are letting their guard down and getting caught breaking the rules? If this was ebola they would be too terrified to break the rules, but the fact that they can make these "mistakes" (and then lie about them before photos and videos expose them) shows how small the threat is in their minds. When we're dealing with something so serious, as they claim constantly, such mistakes should be unacceptable and unfathomable... But it's politicial theater, as they've been caught referring to it themselves. People are not afraid. And a lot of areas have just stopped enforcing the rules because they've given up on trying to convince people that it's necessary.

Every time these policies fail, you guys like to blame some nebulous, undefined group of people who supposedly caused the problem by not following the rules, all while defending the hypocrites who create the rules and don't follow them. It's past the point of being ridiculous.

Clearly people aren't going to follow the rules. Many areas won't enforce them. Why even have rules? Why kill our economy and businesses to continue failed policies that the policy makers don't even follow? It's an exercise in futility. Let everyone be responsible for their own health and stop pretending the shutdowns are helping. We're in the ninth month and cases are at an all time high. That's failure.

The cases are at an all time high, with mitigation policies in place. Imagine what they would be without them.

The shutdowns are helping. If anything was a mistake, it was relaxing them too soon.

Who is worse the doctor who smokes but says “Don’t smoke” or the person claiming that smoking doesn’t cause any problems and doctors should be ignored?

Garcetti has ordered everyone to stay in their homes. You are not allowed to be outside your home unless you are going to the store, gas station, health care, essential things.
Its declaring martial law through the back door.

Start walking L.A. Start walking everywhere, declare your life essential. Go to the store, gas station, someplace "essential" everyday.

Why is it that so many will engages in public disobedience to celebrate a basketball game won by millionaires but they won't protest against these tyrants destroying their lives???

I can think of a quarter million reasons to start.

The doctor because he is the “trusted” professional.
So your doctors all have perfect abs? Is it okay to only feed kids candy because the pediatrician is a bit chubby? The idea that falling short of an ideal is worse than lying and disavowing the ideal is just silly. By that standard there should be no standards for any behavior. Its perfectly okay to lie because we have all lied before.

I only pick doctors who are in excellent health and physical shape.

Lol wow. How did you come to that conclusion?

Well I figure if a doctor is smoking, but knows that it can cause health issues and recommends against it, they learned from their mistake right? Quitting is pretty hard, so even if a doctor is a smoker, they know the risks and regret taking up the habit.

Not picking up the habit is still good advice, whether it comes from a smoker or not.

Maybe because it's hard to quit?

Maybe it's hard to say no to friends having a birthday dinner?

Maybe it's hard to stop going to Disneyland no matter how much you think the experience has declined?
