The Worst Disney World Rides That Are a "Waste of Time"

Personally, I love the Railroad, steamboat, CoP, PeopleMover, Country Bear Jamboree, Tikki Room, HoP etc. I could spend an entire park day doing thos and just relaxing (I often do!). They are my favorites. Every good theme park has attractions like these that are walk ons that provide at least 10 minutes of quality entertainment.

1st off I think there’s no dumb rides at WDW. Just bc it doesn’t appeal to you, doesn’t mean it’s not someone else’s favorite ride or show at WDW. So the question is more an opinion. For me it’s Stitch and Dinloand as a whole. But I’m sure others love those areas.

IMO there's nothing else like riding the carousel at night when everything is lit up...There's usually such a minimal wait time, and obviously it's no E-Ticket but it really does create a sense of wonder. Easily my favorite on this list, weird as it might sound. Gran Fiesta Tour is fun and a short wait (not to mention it'll probably be switched out for Coco soon so...it's probably one of those "enjoy it while you can" rides). And I'm on the fence about Figment (in its current form) and CoP, but neither is anywhere near bad enough to belong on a list of skippable rides.

The rest are fair points, though. The only spinner worth doing is Dumbo (maybe Astro Orbiter because of the view of the castle) and Stitch is utterly joyless–not even worth riding as a joke. I know some people have a soft spot for Swiss Family Robinson, but the idea of doing all that climbing for hardly any pay-off just baffles me–it bores me as much now as it did on my first trip when I was five. But to each their own obviously!

It's not my favorite place either, but we usually go there for dinner on arrival day. We might go to Splitsville next trip.
DW wife and I live locally and enjoy a night out there on occasion. Mostly for the entertainment music, various performances. They occasionally have dance events (kids)from different parts of the country. This past April a good friends daughter was in one from the northeast. It was fun to sit and enjoy it with them. For the kids it's a big deal to have a chance to be on stage at Disney. Maybe it's just I have time on my hands and not driven by time to get to all the parks. But we also like to get a tasty dessert and relax and people watch........ just my 2 cents

This list courtesy of the vaunted Disney expert, Kelsey Goeres (sarcasm) and the cheatsheet.com.

I really dislike these articles as every ride is personal and if you're already there, why not do it and see for yourself? I really hope people don't read these lists and plan their trip around skipping some potentially great rides. I'm not saying these are the best WDW has to offer, but skipping Carousel of Progress? That's about as Disney of a ride as is left at WDW.

1) Stitch
2) Carousel of Progress
3) Prince Charming Carousel
4) Primeval Whirl
5) Swiss Family Treehouse
6) Journey Into Imagination with Figment
7) Magic Carpets
8) Gran Fiesta Tour

I think I agree with most of the list EXCEPT for Carousel of Progress. Carousel of Progress is a Disney Classic and should not be Missed or touched! In my humble opinion...Its a Great beautiful tomorrow!!

I just hate lists like this especially when I think first-timers might see it and ignore something that they may enjoy. I always tell first-timers with kids to spend an extra $20 and buy Birnbaum's Walt Disney World for Kids which is a brilliant way to get families excited about going and gives me insight into what they are most interested in. I encourage them to read it together and have their children mark / score items that get them excited. Then, if they want, I give them a little itinerary based on their markings, along with their fastpasses and dinner reservations, on how to go about each park (go left, always go left).

That said:
1) Stitch - awe come on you have to experience chili dog burp in your face at least once (well, not now it's closed)
2) Carousel of Progress - my mother wants to slap the person that put this on their list. I might hold them for her.
3) Prince Charming Carousel - young kids, or end of night, this ride can easily take you back to childhood if the line is short.
4) Primeval Whirl - it's always good for a smile as you get whipped into that one corner that spins you around the most.
5) Swiss Family Treehouse - see it, enjoy the detail, walk down the stairs and get on the Jungle Cruise for a laugh.
6) Journey Into Imagination with Figment - umm... ride it once and I'll show you video of how great it used to be.
7) Magic Carpets - believe it or not I've never ridden this once. For some reason I'm always sent to get Dole Whips while my wife takes the grandkids on it.
8) Gran Fiesta Tour - A perfect way to let those tequila shots settle you just did at La Cava del Tequila before moving on to get some Carlsberg.

Things we normally don't do much any longer unless we are tired and there is no line:
Magic Kingdom
  • Tom Sawyer Island - which makes me sad. This place needs love and is a childhood favorite running ahead and scaring everyone in the caves.
  • Liberty Belle - it just takes so long waiting to board (or is that bored?)
Hollywood Studios
  • Disney Jr Live on Stage - honestly, the wife does this with the youngest one's while I ride ToT or RnR.
  • Beauty & The Beast Show - see above answer.
EPCOT
  • We do everything
Animal Kingdom
  • Finding Nemo the Musical - haven't done this in a long time, maybe we should again next time we go.
  • Kali River Rapids - we go a lot in December. When it's warm enough we ride.
Disney Springs
Who ever thought people want to do high-end shopping while on a vacation at Disney? I get lost in that place now. Bring back the Adventurer's Club and get off my lawn, harumph!

OK, complete and total honesty here. I have gone on CoP to take a nap. Not proud of that, but just being completely honest.
LOL--we should make a list of best rides/shows to take a nap! I really don't aim to nap in places, but it's so hard for my body to adjust from the PST to EST--that 3-hr time difference is a killer when you are getting up early to make rope drop! I've slept on Ellen's Energy Adventure, Gran Fiesta,HOP, POTC, IASM, COP...anything that doesn't jerk you around, is calm, and lasts longer than 5 minutes!:oops: (So not proud)

We go to all the attractions. We do the list provided when the lines on the good rides are long and waiting for our Fastpass times.

Oh, it's not that we don't like it -- we think the array of restaurants is particularly enticing. However, we're not big shoppers so the stores are lost on us, and the travel time and inconvenience of getting to/from DS makes it "not worth it" to us. The only exception was when we stayed at PORS and could take the boat down to DS for dinner at Raglan Road (which was excellent), but even then, it was a large time expenditure for just a meal, and the kids were champing at the bit to get back to the parks.
I totally get this. We usually only visit DS now if we are staying at OKW or the like. I like the boat ride more than the shopping LOL

It's Tough to Be a Bug will always be my archenemy of a ride. Nothing like a 3D film that spends half its runtime with the projector turned off. An incoherent story based on a forgotten film cobbled together as an excuse to overuse cheap effects. Can't believe it's still around.

Oh come on, you can't tell me that one of the funniest things at a Disney park isn't watching all the first-timers jump up and shriek right after the announcer states, "We advise you to remain seated while all the smaller bugs exit the theatre first. Please no screaming, pushing, stomping, or swearing. Thank you!"

There's not a ride or attraction at WDW that's a "waste of time." What I find is the biggest time waster is waiting in line for the attractions that are omnimovers, that have an hourly max throughput, and to which WDW rations access via the FP+.
