The Worst Disney World Rides That Are a "Waste of Time"

Totally agree about the Treehouse. It's climbing up and down stairs set up to evoke a 50 year old movie that was somewhat mediocre.

Blink, blink. Breathe, breathe. Day in, day out.
Skip the Carousel Of Progress?!?!?! Sure it’s old and could probably use an updated last scene, but it’s a CLASSIC! No way I could ever not ride it during a visit!
I used to say that, too... Till my last couple of visits... It's pretty embarrassing now. Like, not just dated embarrassing... But animatronics barely moving + load turntable creeks embarrassing.

Ah lists... I am currently on a mission to be sure my children get to see every attraction- DS13 and DD10. This way they can make their own decisions, not mine or some ones list. They will also be able to tell others that they remember when - like I get to say I remember when JOI was a glorious 16 minute experience that... actually got a little dark and creepy....but was way better than todays version.

I am often surprised when they ask to ride something. My son loves COP and my daughter insisted on climbing the treehouse last weekend! Everyone has their favorites and no one should have to defend them.

We also "made" then sit through the American Adventure recently and the review was "not bad plus it has chairs and air conditioning"

I think all that is left are Canada, France, and China. Sorry to say we missed One Mans Dream.

Ever since I was a child I found the Swiss treehouse fascinating. Never saw the movie, it was just the idea of how cool it would be to live in something like that. Treehouse Masters: eat your heart out!

I like the tree house too. A few years ago I even bought the movie and we watched it as a family - even my son who was 17 at the time. Maybe I'm just corny, but I liked it. When I see the tree house, I also imagine what it would be like to live in it.

This is so subjective. I'd hate to call any attraction a "waste of time," but here's what my family tends to skip most often on a WDW visit:

All parks - Character M&Gs (the kids used to love to meet a few each time, but now they've mostly outgrown it)
MK - Jungle Cruise, Liberty Belle Riverboat, Hall of Presidents, Enchanted Tales with Belle (great for a first-timer but not easily repeatable), Barnstormer
Epcot - China/France/Canada films
AK - Rafiki's Planet Watch/Affection Section, etc., bird show, Primeval Whirl
HS - Little Mermaid show, Disney Jr. show, Jedi Training show
Disney Springs (all of it)

Why don't you like Disney Springs? (Just curious, no judging here.) :)

So I guess it's how you define waste of time. LOL

COP and hall of President's is where I go to get my quick nap in on a hot park day.
I do agree with some of them.
Stitch?? It's horrible, plain and simple. I don't know anyone who likes that ride.

And I agree with Prince charmings Carousal. On my first visit to the world, the immediate reaction was "why is there a carousal at disneyworld"?

Oh, it's not that we don't like it -- we think the array of restaurants is particularly enticing. However, we're not big shoppers so the stores are lost on us, and the travel time and inconvenience of getting to/from DS makes it "not worth it" to us. The only exception was when we stayed at PORS and could take the boat down to DS for dinner at Raglan Road (which was excellent), but even then, it was a large time expenditure for just a meal, and the kids were champing at the bit to get back to the parks.

It's not my favorite place either, but we usually go there for dinner on arrival day. We might go to Splitsville next trip.

I agree that these lists that come out are so subjective. The only good thing I see about them is that if they do deter people from trying them (and seriously, if you are someone who follows lists and won't try something for yourself...I'll just stop there) leaves less people in line for us to enjoy! :)

We tend to ride everything if the wait time is low. But the last few times we've been, Stitch (which I can't stand, but will ride for the kids) was closed, Aladdin has a crazy wait time (why, for the love of all things holy, why??), and Prince Charming Carousel we do tend to skip as no one really wants to ride (we did it when the kids were babies and have great memories, but we've outgrown it). While we love Dumbo, that line is usually crazy long and the kids generally don't have any patience to ride it (although I make them ride if line is short). Everything else we ride!

Similar feelings on the Springs. I was in the why is there a Movie Theater at Disney, but we can't park for 14hrs a day every day- So Star Wars at Disney Springs is on the menu for January (I know not opening day - blasphemy)

They also have the dine-in theater and we were going to do that on our last trip, but we didn't get there in time and they were sold out. I can't decide between trying for that again or going to Splitsville. It depends on what movies will be out in June. My son would love to see The Incredibles 2, but we will be at DS the day after it opens. Oh, I think the Han Solo movie will be out when we go... is that the movie you're talking about? But honestly, I know my daughters and I won't care about that, maybe the boys.

I need to put my glasses on! For a minute I got all excited because I thought your wrote that there was a drive-in theatre instead of dine-in! I always forget about the theatre which tends to make for a good option when we want a "down-day" from the parks.

For me (by park):
MK - Country Bears, Dumbo, Tiki Room
Epcot - Ellen (back when it was a thing)
HWS - Launch Bay, Path of The Jedi
AK - Finding Nemo The Musical, Triceratops Spin

This list courtesy of the vaunted Disney expert, Kelsey Goeres (sarcasm) and the cheatsheet.com.

I really dislike these articles as every ride is personal and if you're already there, why not do it and see for yourself? I really hope people don't read these lists and plan their trip around skipping some potentially great rides. I'm not saying these are the best WDW has to offer, but skipping Carousel of Progress? That's about as Disney of a ride as is left at WDW.

1) Stitch
2) Carousel of Progress
3) Prince Charming Carousel
4) Primeval Whirl
5) Swiss Family Treehouse
6) Journey Into Imagination with Figment
7) Magic Carpets
8) Gran Fiesta Tour

I would add Na'vi River Journey to your list. We were lucky and were able to pretty much walk on the ride with no wait, but as my daughter said it wasn't worth more than a 10 minute wait at most and given the lines when we were leaving were over and hour I had to feel sorry for a lot of people. Very over rated boring ride that you walk away from thinking it was never finished. As much as I dislike Carousel of Progress at least there was some narration to try and provide some context to what the ride was, with Na'vi River Journey you are just there floating along a bunch of carnival lit things that mean nothing to you.

I, like a few others here, really feel that there are not any "waste of time rides". Any true fan appreciates everything that a ride can offer. Even the blunders and the pitfalls. We ride EVERYTHING, and we do it multiple times.
Even the "not so hot" rides are better than what other amusement parks offer.

Just a thought :)

We may not LOVE everything, but we do just about all the attractions, even Stitch (because of my husband). I think the only thing we all agree to skip is the Tiki Bird Lounge.
