Ok, so for the anti-negativity folks - what, specifically, is great about the 50th, either as a single day event or as something spread over 18 months?

Personally, I like the monorail lights.
Beacons. Especially SSE.

Food.

Characters at resorts.

MK, as a park, looks fantastic.

EWP.

Shootin’ Gallery is free!

Space 220.

Monorail lights.

World Showcase entertainment returns!

Ratatouille is a great D ticket and great for World Showcase.

Creations Epcot-centric merch (even if I don’t love some of the shop aesthetics).

I actually think Enchantment looks great. We will see how it ranks for me in person, but it certainly looks great.

I’m negativity folk, hopefully I can participate.

I love the “Beacons”.

Monorails are cool.

Ratatouille is also nice not sure if that counts for the 50th.

Maybe MB+ will be cool but I’m not sold on it yet.

I’m sure I’ll think of more but that’s off the top of my head.

I love the lights of Spaceship Earth especially(should have happened many many years ago) and the other icons.

It also makes my nostalgic heart happy to see so many food options named after old and forgotten attractions.

I understand all the frustration, especially with all the 50th hype. The entertainment, among other offerings could have had more put into it/covered more history. But there still is some good. I'm hoping once I arrive next week Enchantment & Harmonious will deliver a much different feeling and emotion in-person than it does behind a screen.

I'm still UNBELIEVABLY excited to finally be back after numerous forced cancellations. It isn't the perfect trip we had booked before but will try to make it as perfect as possible.

I can't say for sure until we are there in a couple weeks, but what I'm looking forward to:

The new entrance to Epcot. We will be arriving there the first night right around sunset and I know I will be weird and cry walking up on it. The fountain, the lighting around the monorail tracks, the new music, the flags...all of it.

The new MK morning show, the cavalcades and the flotillas - the Magic Is Calling is such a freakin fun song, can't wait to dance and wave at the characters! :D

Beacons of light and the monorail lights.

I think the "vintage" posters they put up near the entrance tunnels of MK are great.

All the special food offerings. They have clever names (if you had wings - chicken wings!) and I like the idea of basing some items off of item available in 1971.

Merch - yep.

I actually like that films like Coco and Luca are now being included in some of the entertainment. Luca is a beautiful movie and I wish more people gave it a chance.

I love the gold statues. Love that we are going to attempt to find all of them.

I want to see the stuff at MCO!

Ratatouille - the entire expansion looks amazing.

Creations Shop - dumb name, but it looks cool and I love the Spaceship Earth specific merch.

The refreshing of It's A Small World - looks fantastic!

This point has to be made. No matter what you think of changes or current circumstances at WDW, when you go, your enjoyment is what you put into it. Ever heard the phrase, “Garbage in. Garbage out”? I’m trying ver hard not to do that. I can register what I didn’t think was good but still enjoy my trip.

I can say that right now at 50s Prime Time. I’ve had several adult beverages so am pretty happy right now.

Neither of the two new fireworks shows, I dislike or are bad IMO. The 50 golden sculptures are a nice addition, the beacons, and the other touches like the glowing monorail lights, the resort characters, the return of the Showcase entertainment, the bookends to the Water Pageant and its return and the cavalcade are all nice touches and good additions. The only one I thought did not live up to expectations (not that it had a big expectation anyway) is KiteTails.

I did not have a problem really with anything Disney has added or enhanced for the 50th. The only complaint I would have is that they did not add enough/bring back enough in time. I look forward to the next 18 months though.

This, I can’t wait to go in a few weeks. I can’t wait to see the new spectaculars, can’t wait to see the entertainment that’s back, can’t wait to see the new beacons, can’t wait to try the new junk food and cocktails, can’t wait to go on all the rides, etc, etc, etc… I think they blew it on the anniversary itself (no speeches, no happy birthday, no special shows, etc) but that doesn’t change the fact there’s a million things I’m looking forward to and I can’t wait to be back.

And the 50th Anniversary Edition of The Electrical Water Pageant.

What is great about the 50th is that the castle looks a million times better for the 50th than it did for the 25th. The castle cake was about as popular as the time that they had Stitch toilet paper the castle. The castle cake was being mocked as much as the Kitetails show, but worse, you couldn't ignore it, it is the icon of the whole resort.

I'll also add my two cents after reading the last several pages here- I'm a little bit of a long time listener and not much of a poster but I've been going to Disney for a long time and I hope that some of the people posting that Disney isn't doing more for the 50th look at a visit to the park as more of a homecoming and not having over-the-top expectations. I think someone posted that the Country Bears was filled to capacity with everyone singing and clapping along on October 1st that hasn't happened in years. That is what the anniversary should be about. Celebrating what Disney World has meant in the past while enjoying the present for what it is. The new rides and shows will show up eventually, but like everything else with Covid, it's okay to slow down a little bit and just take in that we are fortunate that Disney World has been around for all of our lives to vacation at and be with friends and family.

I'll add one more point that Disney Corp did a great job honoring Walt Disney the year of his 100th birthday with even making him a character himself as an animator in the daytime parade and I am seeing that Disney is using the 50th to honor the past resort presidents over the years that helped develop Disney World for what it is today. I've also watched more documentaries about Walt Disney and the building of the theme parks and rides on Disney Plus over the last year and half than I have the rest of my life combined because they have either been just created over the last two years or were not easily accessible to watch or known about.

They can easily replace the kites as needed. With tuppence for paper and string, you can have your own set of wings.

I understand the issue thus far has been the jet ski guys not keeping their fists holding tight to the strings of their kites.

Amateurs.

I wish they would put this song in one of their night time shows. I absolutely love it and it makes me so happy.

It was a long time in the making, but all the entrances were refurbed for the 50th, and they all look great and have much better functionality.

All the resorts saw refurbs. The way they did the Value rooms is really good. They nailed the amenities in them.

Main Street was fitted with projectors (even though the current use is only OK and not a big wow).

Space 220 looks real good.

Harmonius, the train wreck of story and visuals that it is, is at least better than Epcot Forever!

The Rat ride and France expansion looks great.

And... that's all I got.

Maybe by the end of the 50th I can add TRON and Cosmic Rewind to the list.

I can play the positivity game!

I think KiteTails is good fun.

I think the SSE Beacon is incredible, but I also think that this is more of an infrastructure improvement for EPCOT than a 50th gift — but it’s stellar.

I think Harmonious is better than many give credit for - a fireworks show should not have to die on the hill of interstitial narration. There are issues, but I don’t think it should disappear immediately - perhaps in a year or so.

I think the food and drink is fantastic, and the merch is some stuff that fans FINALLY wish to seek.

I wouldn’t include it normally in the celebration, but the elevator at Space 220 looks fantastic, and the drinks looks wonderful. I think the food situation is truly an option for guests that want to have a “Disney Experiences without eating anything too ‘exotic’”, and as such it has limitations, but the bar offerings look fine. It didn’t take out any existing restaurants, so I’m not complaining.

While not a marquee attraction worthy of much advertisement, Rat is very much needed in World Showcase and will be an excellent high-capacity thing to do in the park.

The beacons are VERY well done.

The Water Pageant felt very intentional and like a labor of love.

I’m glad that there was cash that went towards refurbishment, even if cash ought to go into refurbishment CONSISTENTLY.

I can have my opinions on Harmonious’ failings, the new insidious Cast “Point System”, and all the rest of it AND enjoy things. I don’t think it ought to be black-and-white - I think there is a balance between negativity and pixie dust, AND I believe that once you’ve paid for a Disney vacation you ought to keep it positive. Until Disney has your money, though, I think it’s fair to take a good hard look at the business practices and it’s value to you.
