The World's Most Magical Celebration - Walt Disney World's 50th anniversary

Hope this new song is catchy and really good considering it will be played all over the place for 18 months. I personally would prefer something upbeat and fun, but not getting those vibes at all from that clip.

I don't have specifics, but rest assured that there is a lot more 50th merchandise coming.
A lot more....as I mentioned previously.

Some of it will be released in small collections to drum up interest for marketing purposes.
Next wave hits August 25th from what I remember .....

And I fully expect certain items to only be availible for purchase in the Park on 'the Big Day'.

The limited things restricted to in-park only, I’m already dreading the impending sticker shock for anything I end up wanting. I live nowhere near Florida and am too high risk to chance a vacation down there at this time.

I’m hoping maybe they’ll also do an online queue release thing like they did last summer for just a little bit of Disneyland’s limited 65th merch. I was too far back in line to get anything I wanted, and there wasn’t much offered to begin with, but at least it gave folks around the country a chance at goodies without the markup.

On a side note, they are missing an opportunity if they don’t sell figurines of some of these gold statues (namely, Orange Bird, Figment, and of course the usual suspects). So much they do these days is catered to social media hype, but I don’t really mind it in this case. I’ve been known to spend a half hour just looking at the statues in the hub at MK, so these appeal to me too on their own merit. Although some of the character choices (especially Edna) make no sense to me either.

That was only a snippet of the song, I would reserve judgement until the full song is heard.

The last time we had a milestone anniversary theme some it was everywhere and just as you thought you got away from it fantasy in the sky ends it’s first segment and now “it’s time to remember”. That song didn’t finally go away until 2002. It wasn’t bad but they played it so much.

Remember the Magic lives on to this day, in Believe in Holiday Magic! at Disneyland.

The focus on the golden lawn ornaments really makes this “celebration” look cheap, perhaps more so then it actually is. It seems like a bad idea.

The yard ornaments also seem like the very first thing proposed in the board room (no creatives invited, of course) when they realized they needed something to market for the anniversary but wanted to move onto the next agenda item.

Also, have they announced the purchasable reproductions of the statues? That has to be coming, right?

My point of reference for anniversary celebrations remains the castle-cake, absurdly ambitious and uniquely tacky. THAT’S “more Disney.”

PS: You know what would seem more like classic WDW? How about 50 (or even 25) new animatronics of beloved Disney characters scattered across property? Some could even be interactive. THAT seems more like a WDW anniversary celebration.
