And once Iger left, how did he force Chapek out?
Stop already. Everyone knows Chapek never did anything and was just an innocent pawn. It was absolutely Iger’s evil genius plan for Chapek to restructure the company into an accountants wet dream, rule the company with an iron spreadsheet, layoff many of the long term employees, anger and alienate a large chunk of the remaining work force, drive out all the talent in Imagineering, bumble into a fight with the state of Florida and call the guests fat and/or undesirable.

He should look at himself in the mirror if the claim he calls the guest fat.

This goes under revisionist history. Chapek changed the reporting structure within Disney -this was not an Iger initiative- and caused massive anger amongst the creatives. It was Chapek that was a public relations nightmare with his handling of S J / Black Widow and of course the whole Florida mess. These were unforced errors you cannot blame on Iger. But remember, what ultimately got him fired was trying to reallocated expenses from Disney+ to the studios so Disney + would appear to be performing better than it was. This is when McCarthy stepped in with her statement of Non confidence to the board. Yes, Iger was all to happy to jump back in--but if Chapek was not such a complete screw up, Iger would not of had the chance.

One would think as she as the former CFO she would be more in tune with increasing profits for TWDC so the more the guests eat and drink...
The context of her remark - when she still was CFO - was the way to reach / maintain / increase profitability was to reduce portion sizes (presumably while maintaining the same cost). For example, 6 Oz of steak cost them $3, they sell for $15. Now, they buy 4.5 Oz of steak for $2.25, and still sell for $15 (or maybe $16)

If I recall correctly Chapek as CEO was in favor of massive permanent cast layoffs during Covid only to be undermined by Iger ? who still had his exec office at Burbank with the only one equipped with bath and shower. If I were Chapek a cold shower would help melt the steam coming out of his bald head and ears.
The story was that chapek said lay off the park people and Iger intervened…
That may have happened

In the end…the US government avoided a recession by creating enough money for all companies to spend their way out of it…

What Disney didn’t know is they could habe gotten government money at that time to pay all their employees without anything in return. But there would have been a political price at that time.

Not sure I can blame either bobs for that

Chapek sucked

But it’s pretty clear Iger maintains effective control the whole time
And he never had any intention not to

No. He left, finally after an extra year on the board.

The fact is, that Iger cooperated (on his own terms) with a succession strategy at least once.

Saying he never did is a falsehood.
You’ll never believe he screwed this up…but he did.

Not believing Disney does wrong - like all companies and humans - is borderline insane.

It’s what psychologists will one day term “last Jedi syndrome”

This is true…but ignores why it happened in the first place…and has slowly leaked out in the last year:

Quite simply: Bob Iger is an egomaniac who was never gonna leave…so he made sure there was no replacement to usurp him

And he quit like a coward because he thought he’d take an ego hit in a crashed economy.

He has even less use for talent under him than Eisner in his mad king phase. That’s saying something

That’s how this all happened. Now he’s getting his just desserts.

It's funny how Bob Iger is acting like he's trying to clean up Bob Chapek's mess. When it is mostly his own mess. And the only reason Chapek is not allowed to dispute it is because he signed a non disclosure agreement.
Although I really dislike Chapek, his first interview after the non-disclosure will be legendary; he probably will say everything that happened behind the curtains and all of Iger's dishonest moves as CEO.

As mentioned here…the problem with D+ is they don’t really add any content to make you want to keep putting it on.

4-5 mini seasons of mostly BAD marvel and Star Wars shows…no original dramas or comedies…which get the most engagement from their competitors…

It’s a beautiful interface…the best in stream…but that window dressing doesn’t matter
Disney+ would had been the perfect opportunity for new Disney+ Original Content based on Disney Films that revisits the "Animated Series" or animated film spinoff material like it was during the late 1980s and 1990s. Instead the only Disney+ Original Animated Series is the upcoming Tiana and Moana series.

A few underutilized sequel ideas from different Disney Animated Films would been perfect as Disney+ Original shows and films. Would been the perfect opportunity for someone at Disney to revisit the cancelled "The Aristocats: Animated Series" idea from 2003 as a show on Disney+.

Heck, some Disney Animated Films that are forgettable or viewed Meh by the general public has some opportunity to get some expansion in their world building such as Robin Hood. As of this writing, I currently own four physical copies of the ongoing "Aristokittens" graphic novels which expands on The Aristocats where the kittens run an animal cafe and fleshes out Toulouse and especially Berlioz personalities and relationships. Those novels are screaming to get turned into an animated show for Disney+!

There was also a one-off comic starring Olivia Flaversham from The Great Mouse Detective that was on the final issue of the Disney Adventure Magazine that was planned to become a series before Disney Adventure was discontinued a decade ago. It was written and drawn by Elizabeth Watasin.

Instead it's spent on various Marvel, Star Wars, and a few forgettable shows and Films (and some hardly get any advertisement like the South Kore shows). Talk about wasted opportunity.

Executive Chairman, with a higher salary than the "CEO"
Ones in power don't want to lose it. Iger isn't the only player that was CEO when he left then became Exec Chairman. Billionaire Bezos of Amazon did the same thing. Salaries are just a small part of Iger and Chapek compensation. During Covid , Iger did not collect a salary as Exec Chairman, Chapek salary cut by 50% and other execs salary cut 25-30%.

We get it, you don’t like Bob Iger. No need to post it multiple times per day, every day.
What’s funny is it takes usually an hour or so for someone to make some ridiculous, illogical excuse or statement about Iger in several threads. Without fail.

I’ll give you the rope…and inevitably you’ll end up hanging

Bob Iger does NOT represent the soul of Disney…separate the two and you can be a better fan. I promise.

Iger was lurking and could not wait to get the throne back. I get it. My statement is that if Chapek had just been competent, Iger would never of had the opportunity to resurrect himself like the Phoenix. The mistake was allowing Iger to keep his private office where he could more easily manipulate events, Machiavellian at its finest. My only hope is that whoever takes over, the biggest demand is that Iger is forever banned from Disney Offices- period no exceptions.
