The value resort I like the most is....

Family trip to WDW the 1st week of March 2010, have read a number of posts on which value resort is the best bang for the buck, so thought I'd throw up a poll to allow a better tallying of opinions.

Our situation:

- 2 families
- Wife and myself + 3 kids (2,4,6 yrs old) - used to staying at moderates
- My mom and Dad - used to staying at Value

- Lifelong Disney fans, usually go there at least every 2 years, only started staying on-site recently

- Compromised with the parents, we'll stay value if they agree to do dining plan with us ;).

- plan on getting 2 rooms and have 1 kiddo rotate out of the parent's room each night.

- Will be using DME, so bus travel to / from parks definitely a factor

With the above criteria, what value resort did you like most / would recommend?

Thanks in advance!!

Thanks for all the replies so far! I've been browsing the other posts on the toics and am getting mixed signals on bus sharing at the AS resorts.

Some peple indicate that there was bus sharing when they were there, others say their AS resort had direct busses except during mid-day hours.

Anyone "in the know" able to give the scoop on AS bus sharing policy?

I wouldnt stay at any of the all stars. The bus system is horrible and it doesnt matter if you are the first stop. Most of the Brazilian tour groups stay in the all star hotels and they take up the whole bus, they are loud, and its really annoying.

I have stayed at pop century numerous times and have never seen a tour group there and you do not have to share busses.

Stay at Pop!

ASMu suites run about $184 a night but for our family, with DS being 19, we would have to have two rooms anyway. This way we have the amenities of the kitchenette so we were able to have breakfast in our room and able to keep snacks & drinks cold. We figured it out on breakfasts alone from our Dec trip at Pop with no kitchenette to the ASMu suites we saved about $50.00 a day just on breakfast. Don't get me wrong, as my signature will show, we have been very strong advocates of Pop but we also really, really like the atmosphere at ASMu.
What I would strongly suggest is that you go to Allearsnet.com and look under accomodations and search all the value resorts. They have a break down of resort size and slide shows that will give you a really good feel for the resorts and the rooms. Invite you parents over and view them together and see what their thoughts are. As far as the busing situation went all I can say is we were at ASMu for five days and only had to share a bus one time at mid-day heading off to the MK.

POP all the way. I absolutely love it there.
We were in the 80's last time which seemed to be one of the farthest away from the main building, but the walk was not long at all and like someone else pointed out it was very enjoyable!
If anything, our pool over at 80's barely ever had anyone in it. If you are closer to the main pool/building then it gets too crowded.

We had stayed at all star music several times and on our last trip decided to try POP for a change. We really missed music. Pop was too large and too noisy and too crowded for our taste. In my opinion, we believe the bus situation is great (yes, Great) at all of the resorts. Everytime we've stayed at ASMu, we had a dedicated ASMu bus, like we did at Pop.

In the end though, its all about the theme. We like music - so we enjoy the ambiance of ASMu.

Hands down I would say POP. Love it. We have never had an issue with the size of the resort. I have always stayed in the 50's and it is close to Classic Hall, but not preferred rooms. I got my exact requests on or last trip in May and loved the location. The food court is really nice too and I like the gift shop there.

So what is your exact request??? Can you see the fireworks from there???? you're info would be GREAT!! TIA

I didn't read the WHOLE thread so I'm sorry if someone mentioned this...

The All Star Resorts share buses. You're almost guaranteed a longer wait and will always find your self on a PACKED bus at the end of the night.

That alone makes POP more worth while to me.

I've stayed once at All Stars and twice at POP and even with the bus situation aside I would still pick POP. I just find it feels a little nicer. I could be biased though...I became attached to POP on my last two trips. I stayed there twice in a year so I felt like it was my Value Resort home :)

Of the values we have stayed at, we like Pop the best. The rooms seem more spacious and very clean. Sports was toooo crowded. The foreign sports groups were up all hours of the night, hogged the pool (threw balls around kids, pushed in pool, scream), ran around resort yelling and were quite rude so never again there. Pop was calm, fun, clean and spacious. Pop buses were the best and least crowded. We stood a lot on the music and sports buses, too. Late at night you do not want to be standing!! Music suites rocked and the pool movies were neat.

Remember, the values do not have fridges so if you rent one you pay pere day. But the suites in Music come with the fridge and micro. We ate cereal in the room and saved our dining credits for big dinners. Fridge was great for leftover food we ate at night, drinks and snacks. Micro was great for warming our snacks, popcorn, soups and leftover food. Just something to think about. If you are used to the mods than the extra room in the suites may suit you. Check out the room layouts and square footages of each resort and compare. With 3 children, you want some space. :)
