The value resort I like the most is....

Family trip to WDW the 1st week of March 2010, have read a number of posts on which value resort is the best bang for the buck, so thought I'd throw up a poll to allow a better tallying of opinions.

Our situation:

- 2 families
- Wife and myself + 3 kids (2,4,6 yrs old) - used to staying at moderates
- My mom and Dad - used to staying at Value

- Lifelong Disney fans, usually go there at least every 2 years, only started staying on-site recently

- Compromised with the parents, we'll stay value if they agree to do dining plan with us ;).

- plan on getting 2 rooms and have 1 kiddo rotate out of the parent's room each night.

- Will be using DME, so bus travel to / from parks definitely a factor

With the above criteria, what value resort did you like most / would recommend?

Thanks in advance!!

We are a family of four and always stay at the value resorts. My daughter is 12 and my son just turned 8 and they LOVE Pop. When my son was little he loved staying at AS movies in the Toy Story buildings. We have also stayed at AS sports but, is tends to be very crowded with cheer groups etc. We have never stayed at AS music so I can't give my opinion but, it has to be better than sports. Pop is the newest of the values so it seems to be in better shape, all in all I have to say that Pop gets our vote with AS movies a close second.

All-Star Music. Possibly the least noisy of the values, with neither the jocks and cheerleaders frequenting Sports nor the yelpy kids in Movies, and recently renovated rooms just like Sports. It also has a swimming pool shaped like a guitar. LIKE A GUITAR. I rest my case.

I would suggest that you consider staying at ASMu and booking a suite for your family with the kids and a regular room for your parents. You get a private bedroom with a Queen bed in the Suite, then there are 3 separate pull-outs in the living area, two bathrooms, and a kitchenette complete with fridge, microwave and coffeemaker. ASMu has two pools at the main (guitar) pool they have activities and a nightly movie.

My vote is for AS Movies. We really enjoyed our stay at this resort. We have also stayed at Pop. Although Pop is nice also, I found it too big and spread out. We did quite alot of walking to Classic Hall and the bus stop. I would only stay at Pop again if I got a preferred room. I would easily stay at Movies again.

I vote for the Pop, this will be our third year staying there and we love it. IF you can talk your parents into ab extra $10 a night go for the prefered room, it will be closer to everything.

Question about bus sharing

Thanks for all the replies so far! I've been browsing the other posts on the toics and am getting mixed signals on bus sharing at the AS resorts.

Some peple indicate that there was bus sharing when they were there, others say their AS resort had direct busses except during mid-day hours.

Anyone "in the know" able to give the scoop on AS bus sharing policy?

Hands down I would say POP. Love it. We have never had an issue with the size of the resort. I have always stayed in the 50's and it is close to Classic Hall, but not preferred rooms. I got my exact requests on or last trip in May and loved the location. The food court is really nice too and I like the gift shop there.

I don't think there's anybody "in the know" - all you are going to get is people's individual accounts of what happened when they were there. I think in the past there was a lot of bus sharing but I think it has improved since then! I've been there June '07 (when it's been super busy) and I've been there Sept. '08 (during value season) and we always had a dedicated bus for our resort. The only time I shared a bus was in the middle of the day (we would return for a rest/nap most days) and then it wasn't a big deal! I thought the bus system was great at the AS Music! And both my trips consisted of 8 days and 11 days so I'm sure if they shared busses I would have encountered it during a weeks stay or more!

I can't tell you what the suites are like but I do have one booked for my upcoming trip in August! The suites also give you preferred room location b/c they are only located in the Calypso and Jazz buildings (the closest to the main building). The games and activities by the pool in the middle of the day are really cute and fun. And the movie is lovely in the night time. It's so nice to come home from the parks and see everyone lying around on the pool chairs watching a Disney movie. (Ahhhh, the memories are bringing my back now!)

Everybody has their favorites... and mine is AS Music! It's my "home" at WDW!

Interesting..

AS Music - Because it is secluded and has suites
AS Sports - Closest to bus services and parks
Pop Century - more spacious

Now combine all three in one! :ROFLOL:

Question though: Aren't the suites more expensive than 2 rooms?

POP...

Bigger and better...I have never had a problem with the location of any of the buildings and I have been in buildings near the food court and pools and buildings far away..I do not mind the walk..I rather enjoy it.

I do not find it to be loud or annoying at all..and as for the bus transportation..I do not use it anyway because Disney bus service stinks all around anyway..so I bring my own vehicle..:)

...And park at the Poly for free. ;) :p
YES!...which we did do this trip...granted we did visit and eat there..and then go to the Magic Kingdom...:D:lol: but not once did they give us a parking pass..or even ask what we were doing there..we were waved through each time...so, we did nothing wrong..:D

If they would have given us a pass then we would have used it and that would have been fine..but they did not..no one even spoke to us at the guard shack..the guy waved us through with a smile..:)

Just because they weren't diligent in enforcing a policy doesn't mean you didn't do something wrong!
