The Universal Rumors thread

The relationship between Universal Creative and Illumination is very very strong right now with several Despicable Me creations in the works around the globe ;)

Looking at the box office results for the film, Japan has interest in it but the other international locations don't.

I'm shocked that no one here liked the Ron Howard movie, or at least found it funny/entertaining. I know this is kind of off-topic but you all must just not like Jim Carrey's style of humor because I think some of the humor is genius.

Then again, I enjoyed Cat in the Hat so maybe my opinion is invalid....

I enjoyed the Ron Howard movie very much, he captured the Seuss feeling much more than Cat in the Hat did.

However, Mike Myers was much better than Jim Carrey.

My thoughts on the Suess films:

Grinch- It's good, not great, but good. Sometimes the humor is bad an Jim Carrey can get annoying, but I enjoy it.
Cat in the Hat- Oh good Lord, does this movie SUCK! Everything is bad!
Horton- I enjoy this one the most out of all the Suess films. Good animation, great voice cast, it's just all around good.
Lorax- Haven't seen it yet and don't plan to.

For the most part, I like Howard's version. There's no way it's better than the 1966 original. The Grinch was a little too comedic in Howard's film, and I HATED the fact that all the Whos whined and cried about their presents and gifts being stolen, at the end of the movie! They weren't supposed to do that, they were supposed to be totally fine with it. Not have to have someone remind them about the meaning of Christmas. For that reason alone, Howard's film is two steps below the 25 minute original.

I absolutely love The Grinch as a franchise. It brings back so many great memories! While I do enjoy the Jim Carrey film, I feel it could have been SO much better. All the potential was there, it just wasn't executed properly, in my opinion.

ETA: And by "it" I mean the script. Ron Howard's visuals were amazing.

I was thinking about going to Uni in the next couple of weeks ... anyone know when or if Transformers might start guest testing/soft opening?

Put Kidszone down for Summer 2016 at the Studios. Oh and just throwing it out there that HTTYD has a sequel in 2014 and a third installment scheduled for Summer 2016.

OMG! HTTYD would be perfect as a themed land and ride(s)! I can't wait to fly on a dragon.
