The Universal Rumors thread

Transformers is a faster paced ride than Spidey that does have fewer set pieces. I have heard that Orlando will get a plussed version with more effects. And I believe that would be because we do have Spidey.
But really, since I know why we are getting Transformers, I'm ok with the fact we are getting it. Universal was sitting on a giant pile of cash that they needed to use or they would have had to pay taxes on it. The amount in taxes exceeded the amount spent on Transformers, and they had a tight window to spend it so they really had to go with an already designed plug n play attraction. So I look at Transformers as simply a bonus while we wait for Potter 2.0. Simpson's is also part of that tax money. Along with Cabana Bay although we would have eventually gotten a family suites resort but we are getting it now because of the need to spend the money.

I'm not entirely convinced that we'll get more effects, but I could definitely see us getting different ones. However, that likely has more to do with what effects they're willing to use. For example, Hollywood (which Transformers was originally designed for) has a recent tendency to shy away from real fire in their attractions, while we don't.

If there's anything that would need to be changed due to Spider-Man's presence, it's the actual ride film. Or at least certain parts of it. That fall at the end? Has "copycat" written all over it. I don't see this being changed though. It would also be nice if they got a little more creative with the vehicle's design. The one in Hollywood looks like Spider-Man with a decal slapped on it.

Someone posted on Twitter today that the Hollywood T2 3D has now officially closed.

Does this mean the Orlando one will be going the same way aswell?
They closed the Hollywood version to put in Despicable Me. Hollywood is so incredibly short on space they need to remove something to add something. At USF, that is not the case. And I am hearing that T2:3D here in FL is getting plussed in the near future.

Nice! I never thought of that. I think they should definitely keep The Terminator, but it does need an update. There has been a lot more added to the story since T2 came out, so an update would be awesome.

Bump this up because there may be room to add to it soon. LOL. I'm kind of hoping for some JP news or rumors.

I silently modified the wording of the JP expansion to reflect the new rumors a couple weeks ago. (Though I hope an insider may provide a few more details.;))

I hope the Florida T2:3D isn't leaving...it's my favorite attraction in either USF park!
