Btw, am I the only one who thinks that the remaining rides that have queues themed to a real life movie set (Mummy, Twister, Disaster) should be re-themed without the whole fake cameras and props stuff? It'd be odd to have some rides be themed to going into the actual film and others themed to the movie set.

How so? It doesn't take place in the present, but the 1990s.

In that case, the entire attraction is outdated.

What's happening to the queue of the Mummy?

They've removed the previous entrance structure on the curb. You now enter the extended queue (Paradise theater) instead of going directly into the museum building. Apparently there was supposed to be more to the project, but it got cut.

The FL version of T2:3D is getting upgraded.
I would consider it an overhaul more than an upgrade. Many of the original FX have been out for a while, and it needs a polish. There's fiber in the targets, a ton of lighting, audio and projection that need to be fixed/cleaned up. The motorcycle's timing goes out of whack easily. The fog screen has always fallen short of what the intent was, as it doesn't quite reach the back of house, esp during certain seasons. USH improved on that. And a lot of under the hood stuff. Cleaned up, rather than major upgrades. Where possible, more current tech will replace the 90s tech. As Martin said, no new footage or video elements, and the attraction isn't changing. T2 USF and USJ aren't going anywhere at this time.

RE: JP, the reason for the chatter is because JP4 is scheduled for 2014, and Uni would like to try to take advantage of that. There is expansion space and also the need to update attractions that don't work for various reasons.

How? Plenty of attractions take place in the past.

If an attraction is going to take place in a different time period, it has to have a good reason for doing so, and it has to make this fact explicit enough for guests to figure out they're in a different time period (and the reason why.) If this is an attraction that was simply meant to be contemporary when it opened, and it's no longer contemporary, that makes it outdated.

Most attractions manage to avoid this trap because they're either purposely set in a specific time period, or they're timeless for one reason or another.

this needs an update!

I try to keep trimming and adding little thing's to keep it up to date, though the largest changes are the Monster's Transformation being put on hold/canceled and the choice of JP as the expansion. Though remember I am just a mere collector who try's to pick up insider chatter (Both here and OU mainly.) and make it available to people who don't want to spend all day browsing threads. (Though if some insiders want to give me a special "scoop" to post I would be very grateful!;))

I really want to know wth they are going to do about the sheer mass and height of the TF building. I know several of the structures up in the front of the park are almost just pure soundstage like (including Shrek right next door) but this thing is so massive and is closer to the other areas like SF and the street to the right side. It looks horrible right now.. but hoping they have something up their sleeves for it.

That's the big question right now. Currently, I don't even care about the actual ride. I just want to know what the dang exterior is going to look like!

I'm pretty sure it's going to blend in like New York.. It is in the New York area anyway. So maybe a hidden N.E.S.T base in side a normal NY base

I'm sure they have something for it, since its too big of an eyesore, but then again... Rockit...

There's two ways they can fix Rockit. A: tear it down, or B: build a skyscraper facade running the entire length of the track. That way it won't stick out like a sore thumb. ;)

Universal makes me feel so schizo sometimes. They have randomly themed eyesores like Rockit, the Transformers building (yes, I know I'm judging by what I currently see), and parts of Marvel then they have extremely well hidden and themed sections like HP, JP, and the Lost Continent  However, Universal is learning and while they're not perfect yet, they're doing very very well. So I can't complain :)
