I definitely am planning on wearing some sort of costume! Not sure what yet... I am running it with my sister and we talked about trying to dress as Anastasia and Drizella!

Freakin' Awesome!
Well... Im thinking of dressing up as the Nanny and carrying a small suitcase. Just like she has. Wow, Joel meeting his friends from wdwmagic for the first time in drag.

Me, a wig, a dress and suitcase. Interesting. Ill see if that can be done (the dress, finding a replica or something close)

My husband thought I was nuts when I came home last month and I said I know what I'm wearing for the TOT10miler. I bought a very bright yellow tek shirt that had reflector pieces in it and I got glow-in-the dark nail polish. He couldn't believe I was thinking that was important but wait till I tell him what you guys a planning to wear.

Joel, I give you BIG props for going drag. Maybe I'll start loooking for a cute little dress and a shirley temple curls wig.

Sam thinks it is WAY to much to take on for this... but Ill see. Ill try and find the proper outfit. Ill have to modify the skirt and jacket of her outfit.

Good lord Im crazy for even trying this. BUT, it would be epic.

Love your outfit though. It will look great in pictures.

At least we all know we'll have someone to look out for when we're doing the meet up.

Back when the race was a 13K, Disney went all out. The insignia on the finisher ribbon and the runner's bib glowed in the dark (and they still do!).

They also had temporary tattoos with the race logo and they gave you a key to your room at the Hollywood Tower Hotel (a magnet) when you checked in for the race. The tattoo looked like the head of the key:

Here's a photo so you can compare the finisher medals. Very similar!

Very cool! Thanks for sharing!
It seems that Disney doesn't shake things up too much when it comes to the races. I think if something works and it gets good feedback, they keep it. I would love to have the race bibs that glow in the dark for the race in September!

Yep, that original 13K was a race in a class by itself. I have run several events, and the entire storyline, check in, race, post race party, and goodies was top notch in that inagural year. The following two 13K's were also very well done, but that first year was INCREDIBLE.

Glow in the dark bibs were cool. Remember the front lobby display to sign in at on race night?? Or the escaped mental patients who haunted the course? The evil twin girls? It was such an awesome time--I cannot wait to run this 4th Tower Run.

The first race celebrated the Tower's 13th birthday....as my favorite ride I felt obligated to run!!

Ok, Im not sure running in a women's business suit would be wise. I might over heat and expire (nice way of saying die). Im still considering it, but might think up something else.

Not sure. The outfit would have to be modified a lot to allow for the skirt to run and vent. Then there is the jacket. Might be a nightmare.

Wonder if I could find a bellhop uniform :D

Pretty certain I remember someone who ran the first one in a bellhop uniform. But I seem to recall that he took it a step further and made some huge headpiece out of foam in the shape of the tower. Or maybe I'm intermixing two separate costumes, I can't remember exactly. But definitely rock a cool costume. It's a good event to do it at.

The suitcase would get old quick. I can't imagine lugging it 10 miles.

A couple years ago, I was given some mardi gras beads while running a marathon in New Orleans. After maybe half a mile, I had to give them to someone else.

I like the idea of a costume, but am just not that creative. This Saturday is the Warrior Dash and I know what shoes I'm wearing (and then trashing) but the rest of it is up in the air. What looks good covered in mud?

Doug,
The one thing that no one can touch on me, I might be the best at in the world... is stubbornness. I swear, if I committed to this, I would run the training miles carrying a small 2 pound weight to get ready.

Im still thinking about it. You are worried about a suitcase, Im worried about a polyester suit.

Wear something brown.

A bunch of people from our department ran Warrior Dash together.

We had brown shirts made with our badge numbers on the back of them.

Much to our surprise, they all washed up rather nicely....shoes included....I still use them to mow lawn.
