Trip Report The Sweet 16th(with a few surprises thrown in)!!

Hello friends!! Welcome one & all to my 2nd trip report!! To those who followed along on my first one(https://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/whats-going-on-with-my-clothes.945539/) it's great to have you along again & to anyone new joining in thanks for coming on board. I'm excited to have you all here!!

WHO: my niece H(the birthday girl) & myself

TUESDAY, AUGUST 21ST(CONT.)

I was picked up right at 3:15(thank goodness I wasn't running late for once) & was at Saratoga Springs in about 5 minutes.

The presentation was very interesting. At the end of it all Johnathan said he didn't think he would be able to convince me to go for it though. When he understood how much I liked Riverside he said he didn't think it would work for me. He explained that I could use the points at Riverside but I wouldn't be getting as much value by using them there. He tried to entice me by telling me how I could stay somewhere that has a little kitchenette & I told him that's not a good selling point for me. I don't cook at home & I'm surely not going to do it while on vacation!! I'm still on the fence about what to do.....

I got back to Riverside about 4:45 or so. H was hanging out in the room. We had a few hours before we had to leave for dinner so I went to the pool. I was there about a half hour or so & I started falling asleep in my chair. I was awakened by a loud clap of thunder. I collected my things & headed back to the room. You wouldn't believe how many parents let their kids stay in the pool.

We got ready & headed for the bus stop. It was pouring out. We made a run for it. We got on at the East Depot. We got to the South Depot & no one got on. The driver said, "You're getting VIP service to the Magic Kingdom!! You have the whole bus to yourselves!!"

It was getting awfully dark out. I was afraid that the fireworks were going to end up being cancelled.

I broke down and bought the tote this morning at The Disney Store without getting the Disney Visa discount. I love Haunted Mansion!! I didn't love the green portrait print and I missed out on the Leota tote when it was on clearance. I felt like I just had to have this one. I wish it was nylon though instead of coated cotton. I think I'm in the minority when it comes to preferring the nylon Disney Dooneys though. Now I have to sell my Alice Dooney tote to make room for this one :(

We got off of the monorail & SURPRISE, SURPRISE, look who we ran into!! I'm sure you all remember my sister E & my nephew J!!

I wasn't quite sure but I kind of had a feeling that she was coming. A few weeks before this trip I called her about booking our trip in September. We had signed up for the Toy Story passholder event(which seems super silly now since we've already seen it)but we hadn't booked anything else. We each booked our rooms & I said I would book all of our FP's. Well, lo & behold I was no longer "friends" with her or J on MDE. She blew it off like it was no big deal & said it must be a glitch in Disney's system. Really--the 2 people I go to Disney with the most?? I felt that she was full of it but if her intentions really were to come down & surprise us I didn't want to ruin it for her so I just let it go......

Once she saw what our plans were she "defriended" me then made her plans to match ours. BTW-I had mentioned in my last TR that all of a sudden there were pictures missing from my PP account. I'm guessing they were pictures that her band was scanned for & when she "defriended" me I could no longer see them.

She actually flew down the day before us. They had spent the day at MK & had dinner at Chef Mickey's. She took J to The Harmony Barber Shop & that turned into a complete disaster. He's had his hair cut there before & he's always good for his hair cuts. Not today--the kid that was getting his hair cut when they got there was screaming so much that it terrified J so I assume he felt like he should be afraid of something. E said all he did was cry during his too. We talked for awhile then she & J headed back to Riverside.

Our reservation wasn't until 8:55 but we checked in at 8:25 & they seated us right away.

H started out with the Selection of Farmhouse and Artisanal Cheeses and I went with the Spicy Kazan Roll. All along I had told myself that I wanted to try the Tuna Three Way that @ajrwdwgirl's husband got & based on the recommendation of our server I changed my mind at the last minute. It was so spicy that I could barely eat it.

For entrees I went with the Oak-fired Filet of Beef & H chose the Green Circle Chicken Breast.

I ordered the Napa Blue Martini.

Neither one of us are picky eaters but we didn't care for the oil for the bread.

Yay-lucky you!! I wish I could but I just bought the matching wallet for mine & the purse is in great shape so I can't justify it. I don't care for the nylon... Boo to selling the purse....

They have a tote and this small bag, like I have in the black wallpaper print. According to the shop Disney app. I read on Twitter that Memento Mori has plenty in stock. Don’t mean to highjack @riverside trip report with purse news. 😐 but it does look really cool. Now back to our regularly scheduled trip report.
Loving it by the way, and following, obviously. ;)

Too bad about the no tuna 3 ways. I guess you will just have to go back and get it the next time!;)

Loving your report so far - apologies for the number of likes in one go - only just got to read the TR today. I love POR and want to stay there again sometime. Staying at POFQ next month and can't wait- will visit POR during the stay though.

I will for sure!! I should have known better. Once I have my mind set on something I should stick with it. It seems like when I don't I'm always disappointed.
