That character was a personal project of Eisner. They even had a fair amount of merchandise for sale, and like you said,
it disappeared as quickly as it was there.

the best thing Disney has done with them were youtube shows (maybe the streaming will do the same), they have had the amazing bohemian rhapsody, a cooking show (muppets kitchen with cat cora) a movie review show.. that should still be going (from the balcony with waldorf and statler), these short funny moments are what makes them work. Id love a bill nye the science guy with beeker and bunsen honeydew... a cooking show... a movie review show... so many of these kind of things could be done,

Yeah, Bill Nye would fit right in. When it comes to scientists, he's as real as they are.

Darkwing Duck is a parody of well-known superheroes, so I think he's probably timeless. But Ducktales would work too. The revival cartoon is awesome (which is more than I can say about other, uh, revivals I know of...)
