The Epcot Manifesto
You may get a "new" third park with Disney but at this point there is almost more to do in Universal's two parks compared to DHS, EPCOT off-Center and DAK combined. If not now...then soon. Also...as DIsney sells "magical memories" and nostalgia are you really getting a "new" park to visit? Sorry...I do not and can not see the justification of the price difference.
Understood, and that is your opinion. My family situation is likely different than yours, and therefore I do get "more" out of those days at DIS than UNI. It's why I said it's a personal decision for each, and there is no right or wrong answers. Well, except for Epcot. I get more value out of a trip to my local flea market than I do Epcot, so maybe I should be comparing it against 3 parks instead of 4.

Exactly! we had the option of getting a 3 day pass for disney or 1 day for universal and IOA and a 1 day park hopper.. We chose 1 day at each resort. If you have been to WDW before 2 days is all you need, especially if you're part of the no kids demographic.

In case you'er interested, we chose wisely.

But Dusty Sage said Michael is doing a great job. Was this before or after Michael stopped by and spoke at two MiceChat events? Sad to see how far MiceChat has fallen.

I have the same opinion of NFL as the parade. It is a mishmash.
Each individual element looks good by itself, but all together there is no cohesive theme. The Mermaid façade looks good, but doesn’t blend in with the surroundings at all. The Mine Train Mountain does not look natural at all. By that I mean in a natural environment it doesn’t look like a mountain should be there. If it was part of a range of rolling hills it would blend in better. I haven’t seen the parade in person, but I get that sense as well.

YES!! I thought it looked nice but being able to walk completely around it makes it feel out of place. Just a big tree covered hill with no other hills for miles.

I got a DVD where the word 'kids' would have made for one helluva drinking game. Everything was about 'kids' and what they would like and enjoy. I know exactly who WDW wants to visit the resort ... rest assured, I am not in any of their demos.

Interestingly, here in England the advert I've seen most this year is of a middle-aged guy lamenting the fact that his daughter is a teen and only interested in boys and her mobile...until he takes her back to WDW. Then she is his little girl again...

Now I'm not sure if the advert was produced in response to more families with older kids/teens choosing Uni, skipping FL altogether...

But I don't watch a lot of commercial telly (Go, BBC 4!) and it feels like I've seen that ad 5,000 times...so they must run it a lot. Proactively or reactively, I don't know.

In defense of the Disney park hopper... I'd feel a lot better about spending the cost of a days park hopper than I would on spending the (full) ticket price of one day at 3 of 4 WDW parks. The value simply isn't in the parks to waste the money spent on the tickets.

If/when I make it back to WDW, I'll be getting park hopper tickets. I still can't believe I wasted two day passes at Epcot. Next time, that won't happen.

And next time half of my trip will be spent up the road at Universal, if not more so. Cabana Bay looks gorgeous. I'm pretty sure I was a hippy in my former life, because everything "retro" I see I absolutely love. And retro being made to look that way, not from neglect. There's a difference.

Disney controls Reedy Creek. That was why Old Dead Guy Walt set up a fiefdom in the swamps in the 1960s.

Again, no excuse for this. ... Maybe someone should email Dr. Blondie?

Agree on all points but I've personally never met a Fire Marshall who could be influenced and i've met quite a few over the years in aviation and data center work.

I disagree. The first few years after the Great Depr ... Recession ... I started seeing some very nice-looking college kids that could no longer travel to exotic locales or even simply out of the USA and came back to Fort Liquordale.

And I never pay $25+ to park on SoBe. Try the parking garage across from the Fillmore/Jackie Gleason Theater ... there's also a lot that is free at night just north of the Fountainbleau Hotel.

If you HAVE to pay the the garage by the police station is not a bad choice and it's not 25 bucks per day.

Williamsburg is flat out beautiful. Equal to or greater than most botanical gardens in the United States. The flow from land to land is amazing as well.

Errr..... management needs changing. That flow has been gradually lost the last few years. Show quality the park used to be known for has taken a LARGE plunge. Really heartbreaking. It is my home park and I have gone from 50+ visits a year in the past to 3 or 4 last year.

Well, it's a good thing those fans will soon have a world class theme park -- or two -- up the road at UNI when they come to FL.

I saw some construction photos from Islands of Adventure circa 1998. It was bit of a surreal experience, because usually whenever I see vintage construction photos of a giant theme park under construction they are always from some Disney creation and I immediately associate the image with "the good old days" and a theme park that is way past its prime.

The Islands of Adventure photos? Not so much. The only thing I felt when I saw those photos was pride for the theme park I used to work for and foamer levels of optimism for the IOA's future.

You can refuse to believe it all you like, but you aren't stupid. You know how long it takes for Disney to design, announce, and build things. And that's when it wants to. ...

heh you don't have to keep replying. I keep posting that at random intervals in case Disney is watching

Is there pics anywhere?

Not that I know of, but it's been a problem for months. The "skin" on these GH AA's in Mermaid doesn't hold up very well. Ursula and the 2nd Ariel both have wrinklage that looks extremely...rubber. If you watch Ariel in her first scene, as you start to go around her, her arms have big ugly seams that are coming up on the edges. Hopefully it's fixed during the refurb.
