Today, exploiting maximum earnings potential is the mantra billion-dollar corporations are charged with. I don't agree that this is how company's should do business, but, if you are the CEO, you have to do what your big shareholders have charged you to do.

That's it. Next subject.
Oops! I'm so sorry Peter. I didn't realize that you determined when my opinions have had enough exposure. I'll try to be more careful in the future.

Lol. It's me, not you. I was trying to prevent the opposite of what you said from happening. :)

Any way, isn't it ironic how I said times change and we just have to accept the way things are now, when I can't let go of the days when monorail expansion was a policy of absolute necessity?

We walk into the future with a foot firmly planted in the past and wonder why we can't get any further...

74 have you heard any mention of having a Snow White/dwarfs M&G once mine train opens? Also, it looks like they are finally moving along. When do you think it might be open?

The folks who use MAGICal as a reason for why they love WDW and say UNI will never compete etc are generally kinda mentally feeble and in love with a BRAND. Not saying all , but if the only reason why someone can give for preferring Disney is that ... well, I have no respect for that opinion.
Hey, I loved the brand for decades. Truly.

And WDW deserved that love for decades. Truly.

It really was magical.

But I'm also not blind enough to not see that Iger & co. are dumping all over the "BRAND" in Orlando right now.

And I really get tired of alleged "fans" of WDW write that they don't let the little stuff bother them.

Don't they understand that it was both the big and the little stuff that separated WDW from everyone else, that made WDW truly great?

Gawd, I can't want for a change in the way corporate Disney treats Orlando.

They've been hiring like mad for FastPass+ Assistants, that's probably why. They also just need to build more kiosks as quickly as possible. You want an instant job at Disney? FP+! Next you'll see people saying that FP+ is a jobs creator! Ugh.

Oddly they pulled most of the iPad assistant CMs last week, hopefully back again for this holiday weekend. Funny FP+ takes more CMs to facilitate a system that should not have required more than one CM in the area. Watching the $$$ continue to fly. It is an EXPERIENCE that's for sure.

At one time I would have agreed with that sentiment. But recent years exposure to other holiday spots around the US & beyond have made me realise what Ive been missing. This years trip already feels like an effort, yes its hell, but it will shape my opinion on Orlando as a holiday destination for years to come, and when theres so much else to see.........

Isn't that enough?

It's more than the other three parks combined are getting right now.
Yeah. I was more interested in the changes coming to the infrastructure of the park, if there will be any. I remember watching an interview with some imagineer an they mentioned the big changes coming to the park as a whole. If you know anything it would be great if you could share (although I understand if you can't).

If for some reason Toon Lagoon does become a "Beatles" island...the Michael Jackson Estate will make a hundred fold than what it is making off of a re-release of Captain EO!
I'm not sure of this, but, I believe that Sir Paul, bought back most of the Beatles portfolio from the Jackson estate, if that is what you are referring too. The family was looking for some quick cash and all those legal bills took a big chunk out of it. Again, I'm not sure, but, I think I remember reading about it someplace.

Ok. I see the confusion. Sir Paul did not nor does he have to buy the rights back. The way the copyright law is set up is that the rights revert back to the songwriter after 56 years. He was going to get the rights back regardless.

So....2018 he gets them back?

Jackson merged with a division of Sony Music and formed a joint venture which he owned 50% of. His estate now owns 50% of that company. The company still owns the publishing rights to about 2/3 of the Beatles songs and a whole bunch more songs too. They don't own the recording rights to anything, but they get to collect royalties so big bucks. Apparently Jackson used his interest in this company to borrow something like $300M from Barclays. I believe the estate has finally paid that debt off, but it took a few years.

Lucky him, he'll only be 75 years old then. When that happens he may be able to buy that Ford Focus he's had his eye on.

You mean like the failed Rock n Roll park? :)

Never visited, but everything I've seen online suggests two-thirds of a great park that had zero money left for marketing and misread the local audience. Given the close ties UOR has to the Hard Rock brand, I kind of wish they would revive the name/basic concept for a third gate, if they ever build one.

It is emotionally stunted. It's folks looking for the childhood that never was and never will be. It's folks that need to be cradled like special needs children.

In other words, it's the Lifestyler brigade and their followers largely.

I have a soft spot for WDW especially the MK. Whenever we take a trip, we always visit. It changes the way I feel, as corny as that sounds, it just makes me feel young and happy. I love watching my kids faces while there.

BUT...

We all enjoy UNI and IOA as well. We split time between the parks. And enjoy them both.

For some reason though, I find myself here, talking Disney. I care more about WDW than the other parks. I think that loyalty is in my youth and memories. That is Disney Branding.

Yep, that place is a great case study for business/marketing students regarding how not to handle the launch of a product. Just non-existent advertising and bad relationships with the local businesses for things like brochure placement and local promotions. Of course, Baker and the Freestyle group didn't do themselves any favors in trying to resurrect it. But that's another discussion.

It would be an interesting concept for a third gate, and considering they own a record group and produce a music TV show, there's plenty of tie-in opportunities to go along with any partnering with Hard Rock. But yeah, we're still a long ways away from that third gate, so a little premature of a discussion.
