Am I the only one who's tired of seeing younger guys cast as Superman? Maybe it's because I grew up with George Reeves as Superman, but I think of him as the mature, older mentor/leader (father-figure) type.

I know the thing to do is to get the latest beefcake in the role, but I don't want to see Superman younger than Batman. Batman was perfectly cast because Bale was a bit older and not the "beefcake" type (same with Downey as Iron Man). Superman needs to be cast the same way - which is something WB is totally missing.
I grew up watching Christopher Reeve as Superman and he was pretty good. Don't remember George...;). Though I've heard he was good.

I LOVE Badass Digest, they're one of the best film sites out there.

"Disney still hasn't officially confirmed any cast members as-of-yet, but THR's reported something that previously didn't seem that likely: Peter Mayhew is, indeed, getting suited up once more to play the baddest Wookie this side of the Mid Rim, Chewbacca!!!

There were rumors that the 7' 3" actor was suffering from back and knee problems that would prevent him from participating alongside expected returnees Hamill, Ford, and Fisher, but apparently that's all bull. With a growl and a head-tilt back, Chewie is as ready as ever to co-pilot the Falcon and roll into battle with Han and the rest at least one more time. And we couldn't be happier for it.

This is totally not how I expected the first solid word of a returning cast member hire to go down, but it seems oddly perfect. Mayhew is the least known for his non-SW work of the principal returning good guys (save for maybe Anthony Daniels), but Chewbacca remains a beloved, iconic figure from the OT. If they wanted the first real fanboy casting response to be an unequivocal "HELL YEAH!", well, they played that hand beautifully in my opinion."

This will be a Justice League movie...Its got the Trinity in it already... The DC movie has panic written all over it, they are rushing to replicate AVENGERS.

That's the problem. That's why it will fail. They're forcing it & trying to copy something that has grown organically.

If I'm Warner? I do something different.... Go villainous. Give me a joker trilogy where batman doesn't win until the 3rd film.

Your only warning: you post anything spoiler related - including casting - to Star Wars and I'll give you game of thrones spoilers.

Those numbers may be a bit deceptive since Disney had to pay off Paramount. I think Disney may still be negative on the purchase.

Well, Disney is no longer paying off anyone else (IIRC, someone will surely correct me if I am wrong) beginning with Thor 2. So any profits are their own. At this point, it's a lot of profit for Disney as long as the movies continue to perform strongly.

And the money they paid Paramount was a percentage of the receipts IIRC, which still enabled Disney to pull a profits on the Iron Man movies, Avengers, etc, just not nearly as much as they would have otherwise.

Merchandising: where the real profits from the film are made

I am aware that the Paramount deal is no longer in effect, but it took a rather sizable chunk of change out of Disney's share of the financial success of those earlier films. This is also my I commented on the profitability of the purchase and not the individual films.

And there's also the question of what multiplier on the acquisition price Marvel needs to hit to please the BoD and Iger. Is it double or triple the purchase price? What was the Pixar acquisition's multiplier? Is there a specific date range for Marvel to hit that goal?
