The Spirited Sixth Sense ...

They're not wasting any time announcing when Cap 3 is coming out either, and this time, Captain will be fighting some other super-heros. They're releasing the same date that "Batman vs. Superman" is scheduled to release.

I can't see the wisdom of releasing two superhero-based movies on the same date, or even close to the same date for that matter. They share a target audience, after all, and the first weeks of release are so critical anymore.

Disney could be trying to force WB to change their release date for Batman v. Superman.

They've already delayed that one once (I think it had a 2015 release on it originally).
It's either very bold, or very stupid of Disney to release it on the same weekend. Probably both of them actually.
And, honestly, if I was WB, I'd be prepared to move my release date. If Avengers 2 does not suffer from some sort of creative breakdown (and I doubt it will), I'd be willing to bet heavily that Marvel will blow DC out of the water on that competition.
Still though, is it worth having that competition? Some people will go see Superman, and every ticket for that movie will be one that would not be sitting in the theater to see Cap 3.

Remember, Marvel originally had that date as a placeholder before Batman hearts Superman moved into that slot. This is just Marvel saying they won't move the date and scoring points with the press/fanboys. Plus Warner Brothers has traditionally done very good business with its tentpoles in mid/late July(The Dark Knight, Harry Potter, The Dark Knight Rises, Inception, Pacific Rim) so they're going to move it.

I was going to write the same thing. Marvel had the date already mapped out (they just hadn't announced what the movie would be). WB is the one that is late to the party.

IMO, WB is making a HUGE mistake (nothing new with the mistakes they've made with their DC movies). Man Of Steel was a marginal success and they can't bank on Batman selling movie tickets with Affleck as Batman. I'm afraid B vs S has flop written all over it. A Justice League movie would have been a much better bet.

Good point. I will say I went in Feb 2012 for 8 days only at WDW and never got to ride TSMM. This was partly my fault as my schedule didn't allow us to get the to FP machine across the park. Knowing I can ride TSMM before arriving is a plus. However, I still have to work my schedule to make sure I'm in the park at the correct time, that's a minus. So I guess it really doesn't matter if my schedule can't get me there.
Absolutely do not be deceived by the ease of which a FP+ is secured versus the flexibility of one scheduled. Yes you can change them on the fly with your phone app if it isn't in blip mode. On high crowd days at the parks, TSMM and Soaring and the Mountains run out early-mid afternoon, so don't be lulled into thinking you can change your parks and times at the last minute and still get your first choice of FP's. Sure you will get 3 FP's..but not necessarily for what you wanting.
People have posted all over the boards about the ease of changing times and experiences. I found that true when I was on the laptop and when I was doing it hours in advance, not when I was in the parks and trying for last minute time changes on experiences using an android phone with the app.

That's like the new feature Disney is promoting where you can add a 4th FP after the 1st three FP are used. Yeah, that sounds great, but what is left by that time, Captain EO, Muppets, Tiki Room or Tough to Be a Bug?

How dare you! Disney is in the business of making sure you and your little princesses have a royal good time. Don't have princesses? Oh then don't come you're not welcome.

This will be a Justice League movie...Its got the Trinity in it already... The DC movie has panic written all over it, they are rushing to replicate AVENGERS.

They are going to most likely tank the entire ship with batman vs superman which they are loading with so many characters all at once the film is going the route of a free for all. If they are trying to play catch up they are doing it all wrong, and this is coming from a huge DC fanboy. I just can't help but think the direction they are going in reeks of trouble and desperation.

Good article on the subject, arguing WB will be the ones to blink (if they're smart): http://badassdigest.com/2014/04/07/why-warner-bros-must-move-batman-vs-superman-from-may-6-2016/

Well it sure as heck isn't going to be Marvel. WB has been screwing up their comic properties left and right while Disney has been very careful in fine tuning and producing quality movies one after the other Pixar style.

Honestly, Man of Steel was a massive disappointment right there with the last attempt (Superman Returns) and the last Batman movie wasn't exactly great either. I would have been excited about a Batman Vs. Superman movie ten years ago but not now after seeing MOS and reading about the production of BvS.

Yeah, I know and you are exactly right.

I was more referring to title than content. Branding it as a Justice League movie gets people excited. They're going into it as Superman vs Batman because those are the only characters that have had movies so far and they are misguided by thinking those are the only characters the public would care about. It's the wrong direction and wreaks of interference by the suits at WB that have no idea what they're doing.

The only thing that gives me hope is the video game Injustice: Gods Among Us. It's got a good storyline and the characters are basically spot on. It's the best representation of the DC Superheroes I think I've seen so far. If the movie can be anything like that, then it will be outstanding. That game leads me to believe someone at DC. knows what they're doing. Unfortunately, WB will more than likely muck it up.

Am I the only one who's tired of seeing younger guys cast as Superman? Maybe it's because I grew up with George Reeves as Superman, but I think of him as the mature, older mentor/leader (father-figure) type.

I know the thing to do is to get the latest beefcake in the role, but I don't want to see Superman younger than Batman. Batman was perfectly cast because Bale was a bit older and not the "beefcake" type (same with Downey as Iron Man). Superman needs to be cast the same way - which is something WB is totally missing.

Any of you numbers folks out there have an estimation on how much money the Marvel movies have made since their acquisition?
