Universal Studios Hollywood announced a $1.6 billion overhaul to its theme park today. 70% of park will be rebuilt by 2016. New Fast and Furious addition to tram tour, nighttime tram tour, and super-sized Springfield coming in 2015. Potter in 2016.

"Now Comcast is mouse hunting on both coasts"

I can't believe Universal are putting so many of their eggs in the Potter basket, don't they know its just a passing fad?

I wouldn't say Brave was necessarily bad, It just didn't have the special Pixar feeling watching it. It seemed more like a Disney Animation Studios movie more than anything...

Yeah, I liked it but it could and should have been better. It was an interesting concept and perspective from which to tell the story but the film just sort of meanders along without ever reaching the standards set by WALL-E, Ratatouille and Up. I'm expecting a return to form with Inside Out, the concept is great and I think Pete Docter is a genius, and hopefully The Good Dinosaur will overcome its developmental problems and have its potential realised. I'm also excited for the sequels (Cars 3 excluded but less Mater would be a promising start in improving on 2); I've been waiting for The Incredibles 2 since the credits rolled the first time I saw the first film back in 2004 and with Brad Bird back to direct I'm expecting brilliance.

I think that casting Ben Affleck as Batman will be the final torpedo sinking the DC ship. Ben is so miscast that George Cloony looks like Sir Lawrence Olivier in comparison!
Actually I don't have a problem with him, if anything he will be adding to whatever disaster the script is. Which rumor is he already wants to drop out because of how poor it is in condition. It's the script and the use of the characters that is the trouble of the script.

I love how Warner made three enormously profitable and well-like Batman movies, and will throw that mythology away to start over in a Superman combo movie. All that setup at the end of Dark Knight Rises - and for what? Bizarre. They really look amateur in how they're handling DC. If you're gonna ape Marvel's strategy, then actually do it. This piecemeal tiptoe stuff never works.

Very true on all points. Kevin Feige is to Marvel what Lasseter is to Pixar. He's done an absolutely amazing job.

One question, is Marvel just as involved with the non-Disney distributed movies (Spider-Man, Ghost Rider, Fantastic Four, etc.) or do they only approve them? There is a huge difference in the quality of the Disney and non-Disney Marvel movies.

The newest incarnation of Spider-Man is fine (kinda on par with DC's latest Superman) but it's hardly of the same calibre as Iron Man, Thor and Cap.

It depends which Marvel you're talking about. "Marvel Studios" has been producing its own films roughly since the $4.6 billion acquisition. Coincidentally, Feige has been directly involved with very little outside of the MCU.

I didn't see any setup at the end of TKDR. It was the end of that particular interpretation of Batman. Joseph G-L isn't (spoilers I guess) going to be Robin again, you can quote me on that.

I would imagine the deals are similar to the one with Universal Orlando Resort where they are quite free to do as they please so long as they do not skew too far from the established characters. The Fox films are probably the best proof against the notion that Disney could withhold approval if Universal wanted to expand Marvel Superhero Island.

Agree, they are failing to set a proper continuity.
DC movies all seem scrambled and completely separate.

And therein lies the difference.

“That is our first real kiddie ride,” Mr. Kurzweil said during a preopening tour, pointing to a contraption called Silly Swirly, a new brightly colored offering similar to Disney’s flying Dumbo attraction, except with exotic bugs instead of elephants. “I rode it earlier myself,” he added with a smile.

The President of Uni Hollywood actually rides the rides. It sounds like he takes care pride in his park and it's under construction/transformation. It'll be an amazing sight to watch this bud bloom into a beautiful flower.

Just recently I started watching the Harry Potter movies (yes I am the last person on earth to see them and that's ok) and I watched #3 last night. They're great. I haven't read the books- my reading list is too long already- but I'm actually EXCITED for Universal's HP world and the train ride in particular. I found myself, several times during last night's viewing session, going "oohhh, maybe that'll be a part of the ride!" I had to explain to my room mate that- despite neither of us knowing anything about HP- there's already a large HP 'world' in the park and more is getting added.

We're both excited about seeing this unfold. And staying at Cabana Bay resort, which after viewing photos of, he's ready to go- like, now.

"No thanks...i'll wait until the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train opens" ....said no one ever.

...Pretty much.
