@PhotoDave219 I am disappointed to say I must revise my opinion to the question-if tourism to WDW/O-Town could be impacted by Ebola scare. Focus on nurse on Flight from Cleveland back to Texas.

A girl that attends an upscale College Prep School in Suburban Cleveland Shaker Heights had a house guest over the weekend. The guest had been on the same aircraft as the nurse. Obviously the guest does not have any signs of Ebola over a couple day visit given the incubation time frame. Even if against the odds the guest did manage to catch the virus while aboard the aircraft it would not start to surface likely for weeks yet and guest long gone from the host family home.

HB, the school actually has the girl/student out of school so she doesn't risk the health of the student body by spreading Ebola. When I talked to my sister this morning it was still up in the air if sports games would be played tomorrow due to the risk of Ebola spreading to students and students of other schools, Good Lord.

The parents of this school are high end professionals. I think Kindergarten is 30K a year plus all the add ons, I forget what my nieces high school tuition is but it is over the top and more than many Universities.
The Head Master likely earns 400K yet the powers to be can't even grasp that the girl/student has not been exposed from the house guest to the Ebola virus. But never mind to that, she is out of school.

If these uber intelligent professionals can't grasp this, I can imagine if there was a hint of Ebola in tourist Orlando-land they would be cancelling their WDW or Uni vacations forthwith.

Fear is the ultimate commodity. Here sells unlike anything else.

It never has to actually ever happen, it's just the fear of it happening that sells…

My frustrated sister likens the Ebola misconceptions in my nieces school to when we were both small and children that were HIV positive or had Aids were banned from attending school.

Well if you compare it to the treatment of the British chap over here in the UK - none of the medical staff contracted Ebola who treated the gentleman. So one has to wonder how are they treating patients in Dallas...
As you would expect from the American Health Care System (tm).

Profitably

Didn't the Liberian dude lie about it? Also, didn't he came from a connection flight via europe?

Still, the other cases (the nurses who started to develop symptoms and let fly again) was beyond blatant stupidity.

My thought immediately goes to a ban on commercial flights for anyone under observation. Seems pretty simple to implement and enforce with how locked down air travel is theses days. But what about trains or busses or ferries? How about cruise ships, hotels, malls and stadiums? Where do you draw the line? When is it acceptable to temporarily suspend people's personal freedoms for the better good. I think most people would be OK with it in this case, but what if this situation drags on for weeks, months or even years? It's going to get more and more hostile and difficult to enforce.

Ebola update: I have landed in central Florida (full disclosure: departed from Columbus, not Cleveland) and am thus far exhibiting no signs of anything communicable. Of course, I avoid urine and fecal matter and habitually wash my hands, so I may not be an adequate test case. But if the internet has taught me anything, it's that anecdotal experiences trump peer reviewed test cases and double-blind studies every time. ;)
Also, I'm really enjoying Vero Beach.
Have a great weekend, my loves!

Quarantines like this are usually backed up by men with guns, A M2 Bradley opening up on a crowd with the bushmaster M242 25 MM auto cannon will clear up most demonstrations quite nicely.

For larger demonstrations a FAE munition will kill everyone in the open. Kent State will be a happy memory compared to the tools available to the government these days to suppress civil unrest.

Oh there is resentment about them… Disney is trying to reign them in.

I have a lot more to say about this but not publicly.

I want to see them expand the program to be more inclusive of minorities... 'Disney Singles Panel', 'Disney Dad's Panel', 'Disney Grandparents Panel', 'Disney... oh you only go to Universal nowadays Panel'... the possibilities are endless.

Lots of people are really worried about this, which can only mean there are *waaay* more Americans who spend their time rubbing their hands around in other people's blood and faeces than in other countries. You learn something new every day.

Well you know Americans, they always have to put their nose in somebody else's bed… Yeah sure, that's the word I meant to use…

I'm not talking about people who are openly sick. They will be quarantined. No doubt about that. What about the people they may have come in contact with? So the 2nd nurse boarded a flight to Cleveland and then spent a weekend with her family and some friends including dress shopping for her bridesmaids. Now the family members, friends, dress shop owner, flight crews and 260+ other people (130 people per flight each way) are under "observation". It's not an easy task to then quarantine each of them with armed guards. It has the potential to get out of hand quickly.
