There is a hard ticket after hours event that is absolutely NOT sponsored by Disney.

The event was not the only hard thing there that night!

Are we seriously going to have to wait till 2021 for new Soarin' film or is that an exaggeration? Is 2016 a realistic opening date for that because that is what I am hoping for

Who said 2021?

It won't open in 2016. That will be the Frozen year. Disney likes to have something to chat up the social media whores and BRAND advocates as new all the time. This isn't Michael Eisner's Disney that could open complete projects. This isn't Card Walker's Disney (the real guy, not the dead guy who you never see in the same place as a certain Progress-minded Twit) that could build EPCOT Center out of the swamps in three years using 70s technology.

My guess is Soarin debuts its new film in 2017 or 2018.

Poor lighting that can relatively easily be fixed is hardly the same as dedicating most of a World Showcase pavilion to an American film. You're continuing attempts to discredit EPCOT Center fans are just getting silly.

They do a fantastic job of discrediting themselves. They don't need my help.

Is it wrong or a contradiction that I 'like' both posts above and think both have lots of truth in them?

First thing I thought of seeing the shot in the field with the "city" in the background was the Prologue and the Promise.

Film has lots of potential but I thought the trailer was pretty dull. Not sure if I should get excited with Lindelof involved.

I wish folks would give Damon some credit and stop blaming the guy for things that either weren't his fault or were a group effort.

When it comes to things like the ending of LOST, Star Trek Into Darkness and Prometheus, folks blame him too much and give too much credit to JJ and Ridley Scott. It's as if they think those people couldn't have played a role when in fact they did.

Exactly. And I was a Lost LOVER. I wasn't thrilled with the ending, but I certainly didn't hate it and felt it made sense with the narrative they had developed.

I also thought Into Darkness was good, just not what it should have been.

Prometheus I have yet to see, but that was almost all Scott's mess ... Damon was brought in at the 11th hour with the script a disaster. To act like that had been his vision, developed and refined over years is just plain wrong.

That's still utterly ridiculous ...

I admit I am a neophyte when it comes to building attractions but someone correct me if I am wrong but how hard is it to film a five minute movie and then change out said film in the projectors (if they are even using projects?? if it's digital they have even less of an excuse) ...

I'm not saying this should be done over night but how about ... 6, 12, 18 months? Not YEARS ... let alone 5 or 10 years or however it ends up taking.

This one baffles me.

The interesting part about tomorrowland is the take on how the loss of the manned space program has hit the east coast of Florida, especially Brevard/Titusville and how the spark of imagination has been lost for too many. A decline backwards.

They did film some of it in New Smyrna Beach last November, here's an old local news spot about it. "Space Race Cafe" and other areas dressed up for it.

Scheduling and getting permission for all those shots takes time... then WDI/P&R get involved

The film is done, as far as I know, or at least filming. But it is meant as an opening day attraction for SDL, and I doubt VERY strongly that the CCP is going to allow Disney to pluck another opening day exclusive and open it in Florida first like they did with HKDL's Mickey's PhilharMagic.

There's also FL specific issues of upgrading projectors and whether or not the 3rd theater gets added.

So, yeah, this film is years away from debuting here.

Spirited Societal Musing:

When the government wants people to be afraid of ebola (something that hasn't made one US resident ill here while thousands die of the flu every year), what you must wonder is what are they trying to keep our attention off?

Syria? Iraq? Isis? Wall Street? Some regulations or policies being slipped through?

Because, make no mistake, ebola as a legit news story in the USA is a non-starter. And they want it (and have it) leading newscasts nightly.

So ... again, what are they hiding?

All of the above?

Hey, you know what we should do? Let's get the whole world to write to Disney.

Dear Mr/Ms Disney (Specifically WDW),

We the people of the world would like to inform you that all these scattered possible openings are starting to get confusing. So tell you what... when you get done playing your little fiscal games and get it all is finished please give us a call. Until then we are staying away to avoid any further confusion. Oh, and please give us something worthwhile to see once we do go there again or that may just be the last. Being the world, we know a lot of people and you can be sure that we will get the word out. It can be positive or negative, that choice is yours.

Sincerely,

The World

They probably aren't aware of it.

Or, like me, they know lighting at the resort has become a total joke over the last decade plus and they fully expect things to be lighted like the Seminole Middle School AV club handled things.
You know what gets under my skin (trivial or not)? The fact that Crystal Palace recently got an LED lighting package (the looks of which admittedly look quite nice when working properly), and there are already a ton of the lights either burned out or switched off (LED's should not be dying this quickly unless they were intentionally disabled to "pinch pennies")... Sad thing is that the facades look pretty fantastic before the lights come on.

Random but it irks me and we were discussing lighting. I'm also a little disappointed at how the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is lit at night. I kind of expected them to do something with sparkling gems outside of the mountain for night given what the early concept art was hinting at.

If they manage to mess Avatar Land up at night then i'll have lost all faith in their ability to pull off proper lighting.
