The Spirited Seventh Heaven ...

I looked at it, yes.

I'd hope the ride is still on ... And not as a Phase II project.

Again, Disney has been so quiet on details that it would be very easy to simply say that the boat ride is 'a possible future expansion' and leave it there.
Conspiracy time, but let me repost what I said in another thread regarding the boat ride possibly being canned or pushed to a "phase 2" project (oh wait, they're the same thing, nevermind). Anyways, here's some thoughts which may or may not be complete BS-

It's entirely possible that there's an explanation behind Cameron's comments. One possible reason may be that he simply isn't privy to the newest information regarding the project. It depends on when this change of plans was supposed to have been made that cut the boat out, but Cameron is a busy guy (working on the new movies) and he may not have checked in with Disney for some time to ensure they weren't screwing things up. I don't know how likely this scenario is given Cameron's meticulous and hands-on nature, but if he's busy elsewhere with other things then it would make sense that Disney executives would take the opportunity to slash budgets and cut attractions while his back is turned and hope they can come up with an excuse when he finds out. Though he's going to find out eventually if he doesn't know already, and one thing is certain- his reaction isn't going to be pleasant at all. His relationship with Disney has reportedly been rocky from the beginning. Which also leads into my next potential explanation...

Now I suppose it's also possible that he IS aware of the budget cuts and ride slashing and spoke out on the land as a form of political protest and attempt to hold Disney to their promises. It could well be his way to subtly blast them for their decision in a public setting (without being outwardly negative or saying that not all is well), but also to see whether he can bully them into changing their minds. The timing of his comments just after the rumors were begun on various sites is highly suspicious. And whether he does or doesn't know about the cuts, his comments and promises just set Disney up for massive failure if they don't go through with what he said. He promised MULTIPLE rides among other attractions and they're going to look even more foolish, cheap and incompetent than they already do if they refuse to build a project up to par with those promises.

I totally agree that people need to lighten up. What offends people sometimes just has me shake my head. This mess with him also shows that when you develop a group of followers (and haters) you just can't post anything you want though and then claim it was a joke (which I don't think anyone but him can truly say for sure).

I know it was on Facebook, but since most 'drama' usually comes from the Twitverse ... Twitter has it's place but it's also one of the worst things to ever come about, IMO. I don't know the full specifics of what happened, and he shouldn't have been attacked or piled on like he apparently was (one of the worst things about facebook, and twitter especially, is this mob mentality and cliques of "fans" who feel they can attack someone and say whatever THEY want), but this also proves that sometimes you need to think twice about what you say on the internet. Especially if you're in that position where you have a lot of eyes on you.

I don't know that I'm really getting my point across, lol.

I'm sorry but I find this stuff funny. What I find strange is people that don't understand that the internet is full of semi-anonymous people that will judge every single little thing you say (right or wrong). He's been around long enough to know how a comment like that would go over. It's hard to feel sorry for someone that should know better, and he should definitely know better.

What is teasing about grabbing a butt the new n-word or something?

You want an example of 'know better' or aweful tastes... Try tom corless (wdwnews today) taking photos of girls behind their back... Posting it on twitter and calling them sluts. That is the epitome of hiding online and having zero tastes

I would think though they could offer the two cruise together with an extra cost of $300 to pay the fine, but i am not aware if a cruise company would run into trouble if it were to get fined too many times

Essentially it is an out of date law, that is kept in place more for alines than for Shipping

I'm surprised they let it get so far they allowed people to double book. This law has only been around for about 130 years.

I never suggested that. He's smart enough to know how a juvenile sexual comment about Disney princesses storing his hands for him would go over. And how do you know it's about grabbing their butts? There's no way with his vague innuendo that we have any idea what he meant exactly. :hilarious: He knew exactly what he was doing by posting it that vague.

Right or wrong, it's the way of the internet, and he should have known better.

If it is the second scenario, I have a new level of respect for him.

I like Dream Along With Mickey ... lol. It's basic but somewhat enjoyable. However, liking it or not, it's beyond time for a new castle stage show. Personally, I wouldn't mind not having a stage show.

I can't stand MiSiCi for some reason (probably because it's basically a lame DJ dance party with "floats" instead of just having a DJ with a table). It seems like a waste when that money could go elsewhere. Same for the castle stage show. Although I know better and that budget would simply be cut and not allocated elsewhere.

I like Dream Along too. Decent for what it is, and a real crowd-pleaser, especially when the fireworks go off at the end. The animated heads are very effective. I agree that it's probably time for a new show, however.

Time to jump out in front of a rumor and make a whole new set of enemies...

The Avatar boat ride has not been pushed back and there is no Phase 2. There is what WDI and Cameron's firm agreed upon to build and nothing else. Whatever pressures exist from operations side or Burbank to reduce budgets, they are what they are. But they cannot derail this project. Perhaps this is why such a weak slate of attractions is planned for WDW until 2017?

There is an aerial photo going around that shows the construction site as of yesterday or the day before. The site has been cleared literally to the fullest extent possible with the intent of utilizing every inch of it. That doesn't speak of a project that suddenly experienced cutbacks.

I think maybe a lot of people *want* to hear that this boat ride has been cancelled and that is why this rumor is going around so fast. But is not true. Sorry.

Good to hear. Do you have any idea if the contract specifies the specific rides or number of rides?

That's such a relief to hear. I'm actually very excited to see this when it's finished. I hope Disney puts as much effort into it as Universal did and is doing with Harry Potter.

OK, I admit it, I don't have time to spend here tonight because ... Because ... Well, I'm plotting. Yes, plotting. I never forget a friend and I never forget an enemy and oh, am I plotting ...:devilish::D:cool:

That said, I FINALLY just saw the WDW Mine Train commercial and OMG as the kewl kiddies would say that is some godawful stuff. Heigh-ho as a rap song. What looks like a 12-year-old checking out an older woman. Everyone wearing shades.

Is this Disney again forgetting what it is and trying to be hip? Doesn't anyone at the company realize that whenever Disney tries to be hip that it fails miserably? Honestly, whoever approved that spot should be fired.

But I got plotting to do ... Heigh-ho, heigh-ho ...:greedy:

I'm sorry too. Avatar Land is such a stupid idea. I guess there was never much of a chance of it being cancelled, powered as it was by Cameron's and Iger's egos, if nothing else. :p

Well, it's just another reason for me to keep skipping visiting AK. *shrug*

How 'bout that, we agree on something. I posted earlier how much I hate that commercial. Does Disney really believe that's the way to reach kids? Kids probably hate it more than we do. , Disney Marketing Department, have a little respect for the legacy!

Well, interesting to say the least. I will say that the idea that Cameron's firm agreed to specifics and Disney can't unilaterally change that makes sense to me. It doesn't seem like Cameron to come up with this agreement with Disney and then just let them modify it on a whim.
