The Spirited Seventh Heaven ...

When you lie down with dogs .....you get fleas. FS made the decision to get on the financial gravy train with the mouse. This is what they signed up for. Disney just allowing the FS shows they have no interest in providing true deluxe accommodations. With the DVC conversions IMO 74 has been right all along, that Disney doesn't want to be in the theme park business and now doesn't want to be in the hotel business. They are a holding company. A real estate company. Real estate as we know is location location location. Disney realized they had developed the best location in FL. The problem with that theory is that real estate is not a renewable resource. Once the location is sold out....its over, thus reinforcing the notion of a short term strategy.

Is it true the FS only has full size beds? That's kind of ridiculous.

Guardians of The Galaxy is getting some great reviews. I really would love it to be a hit and make it into the parks in Orlando(Tomorrowland replacement for Stitch).

I have serious doubts that they would be allowed to use GotG in Orlando. James Gunnis already saying that the GotG will meet the Avengers. It's always had loose ties to the Avengers and the movies seem to be tightening that connection. Seems like the movies will make it really easy to argue that GotG is part of the avengers family.

Unless the Attraction has any of the Current Avengers team in it I don't see why they couldn't use GOG. I don't want to start another contract debate.

Under the family clause, they can't use any character that is included in the Avengers family. The question of what is or is not in the family would have to be decided by an arbitrator. So no one knows. The issue has not been tested and probably never will be. But I can see the argument that any movies Marvel makes that tie into the Avengers series are off limits. I would certainly argue that case if I were Universal.

I certainly don't think they would let a GotG attraction open at Disney World without contesting it.

Oh don't start this crap again.

Couldn't answer that question in all honesty. My guess? No.

According to their website, you choose between either a King or 2 Doubles. Just like the WDW values. Rooms are 500 square feet, so there's that, and I've no doubt that the amenities are exceptional. Does seem odd that they would offer 2 Doubles though.

Forget all that, and just rent out the top floor! They have a section of the website dedicated to doing that :)

For anyone wishing to see lifestylers in action… Find your way into the Disney parks blog meet up for the guardians of the Galaxy movie this Sunday.

I'm on the list. And so is a lot of familiar names. As usual, it's the same people over and over again. It is possible to get on this list but you essentially have to reply to Disney with an minutes of it being posted. ( i just was goofing off on an airplane when it came across Twitter…)

I'm going because I want to see the movie. I'm sure a lot of those other people are going because they need to be seen… Part of their marketing of themselves and their brand.
No Brigante, No Mongello...I wonder if they just automatically get in?

In all likelihood, the reason so many names are familiar is because those are the folks that are most involved in the fan community and pay the closest attention to things like the blog. They possibly also communicate the opportunities out to each other quickly as to not miss it. For DL, I tend to miss 99% of the blog meetup opportunities as I'm really not part of what you would consider the Disneyland Fan Community i.e. (some) annoying twitter folks, FB, etc. nor to I monitor the Parks Blog closely at all. Oddly enough, of all things, the one thing I did see on the DPB was the GOTG meet up but alas, it wasn't for DTD Disneyland.

I have no desire to ridicule someone's appearance. Their desire to live off free stuff from Disney? Yes.
I know you are very close to a few of these folks who seem to have regular appearances at these free events...do they know of your distaste for this practice? Or are you thinking bigger picture like Lou and Ricky?

Its pretty simple actually.. noone of the GOTG crew as been an avenger.. EVER

while AVENGER members have temporally joined GOTG (like Iron man)

Maybe its because their rooms are aimed at a clientele that would not share a room with their kids during vacation anyway and would bring the nanny along to sleep in the kids room if they were too small to have a room on their own. If you think that you regularly have only two people in the room, a double is a nice bed for one person and the room is not taken totally over by the beds.

I feel like GoG is grey area. They aren't "officially Avengers" but they share members (Iron Man, Captain Marvel) and they have teamed up often enough in recent years ("Infinity" in 2013) that an argument could be made that they are too close to the Avengers. Also things like this won't help:

Thanks! I was looking at the reviews on Tripadvisor and this was mentioned (it was also the only review and the person didn't actually stay at the hotel). I didn't see anything on the website so I was just wondering.

Exactly. Every book Marvel publishes is tightly linked. That's kind of their thing.

GotG isn't cut and dried like the Avengers characters. But certainly there is an argument to be made that they are off the table as part of the greater family. No one knows the validity of that argument because it has never been put to the test.

We can argue about it. But it's pointless because there will never be a definitive answer until and unless Disney decides to take action on something like this. Which frankly, I think, is extremely unlikely.
