That post was about frozen. Now that you brought it up, that actually fits DAK fairly well. If they ever got around to beastly kingdom (probably not) a maleficent attraction would work

Sorry, my mistake. I was skimming the thread this morning (instead of really reading it) and mistook "wolves scene" for something in the other movie.

Still - based on the movie theme,
I could go for some Maleficent movie theming/creatures being featured in DAK. Balthazar?? :)

I posted this in another thread. Please note the second sentence though:

I'm hearing from more reliable sources there may be some truth to this afterall.

Let me add a disclaimer that this is as of today, at this time, and is not confirmed in writing.

I trust you and your sources, but I also think that Cameron must have some sort of significant say in the matter. The way it seems to be presented here is that Disney is saying "no boat ride" or "we'll build the boat ride later -- we promise" and I don't see Cameron and his people just accepting that, especially after the protracted negotiating that occurred before the final sign off. I don't expect Cameron to be as involved at Rowling was with Uni Phase 1, but I also don't think that he would allow for a major part of the development to just be cut out or indefinitely postponed; he's surely more hands on than that.

The Q&A that he gave where he was asked about Pandora at DAK and gave a decent response suggested that he has more than a passing involvement and knowledge about the project. I don't think he's just cashing checks. Just IMHO.

Part of me wonders if Disney is wanting this to happen. Avatar - The Land hasn't been well received by many Disney fan. There seems to be a few people who are really excited, many who range between cautiously optimistic to apathetic, and many who are downright hostile to the idea. I wonder if they want Cameron to walk to save face because I don't think they will ever admit it was just a bad idea.

I've always been relatively indifferent to Avatar at DAK. I think it would make for a cool experience if done well, but don't care enough about the IP to be bothered if it didn't happen.

But if for whatever reason that Avatar at DAK does not happen -- or is scaled back -- then Disney really needs to add something else to DAK. The park absolutely needs more stuff to do (esp rides) and 1 Avatar ride and a night show (after losing the day parade) is far from enough.

Why can't Disney see that the non-MK parts at WDW all need a lot of work and increased attractions? I know WDW makes money, but do they not realize how much more could be made by making some shrewd investments, like what happened with DCA?

You're drinking in the wrong bars. But yeah, the $14 (!) drink my inner child suckered me into buying because of the mini lightsabre tasted like sickly sweet Kool-Ade.

(Make your own jokes about drinking TDO's Kool-Ade...)

That was only drinkable because the ice melted and watered down the lemonade… I wonder if I can get just straight Jamison on the rocks with the glow cube.

It's kind of ridiculous.

I don't quite get it. But there have been so many on again, off again plans ... and it isn't as if Disney has trouble filling any of its Anaheim resorts. The days of me spending a weekend at the PPH because at $59-79 a night for APers, it made more sense than driving home to 90210 are LONG gone.

Disney just seems content to watch as other major hospitality companies (Hilton and Starwood have added thousands of rooms in Anaheim and Garden Grove and Marriott is building now as is Hyatt) add inventory. Of course, I don't get why folks pay $150-200 a night for little mom-and-pop places like Candy Cane Inn, which our buddy @WDWFigment recently reviewed on his blog when so many majors throw excess rooms to Priceline.com's 'Name your Price' service. If we hadn't been using DVC points, we would have likely been staying at one of those local branded properties for well under $100 a night.

It's good you got to stay at the Grand Californian though. Growing up, our family would frequent the mom-and-pop places in Buena Park. Although it was a pretty quick drive to Anaheim, being able to stroll out of the GC and into the parks is awesomely convenient -- no buses, shuttles, or parking ramps to contend with. And that 30 person hot tub by the DVC wing is certainly the social spot late in the evening! My only beef is that there wasn't a good place in the hotel for a quick morning snack without going the entire character breakfast route. We did have some pretty good breakfast burritos at the poolside cafe though.

Actually, I see him being more "hands on" than Rowling because Cameron wouldn't put his name on something if it doesn't meet his high standards. So, if the rumor is true, then I suspect Cameron actually expects Disney to build it later in a Phase II. I just hope there's legal language in their contract that has him feeling all confident!

How does this game work? Am I supposed to be coy and drop more hints or just confirm/deny?

You need to make fun of lifestylers and fanbois, maybe throw in a fat joke and then talk about what you are watching on TV or where you went on vacation. Somewhere in the middle you drop your news. That's how it's done.

If you want guesses I'd love to see Wreck it Ralph on Broadway;).
Not even Google could solve the issues with NextGen.

(BTW, no insider knowledge at all. It's just pure speculation on my part).
Well, when I was at MK a couple of weeks ago, I showed the concept art of Avatar from my iPhone to a group of girls waiting in line with me for SWMT. The excitement in their faces when they saw the Avatar art was priceless. Well, at least there's some who are impressed with it...

Just saying... There are some of us who think it could be great...

I'll be the guy who just throws things out. I've always been direct.

Hunchback is up next after Frozen. Rehearsals are happening now in Cali. Then it moves to Paper Mill Playhouse followed by Broadway if all goes to plan.

Google has been hands on in the parks consulting on MM+ mess.

If what ends up being built is anything close to the art Disney will finally have something new on the scale of Potter. But we all know that probably won't happen, a real shame isn't it?

Is there more to the story of Edgar Wright walking away from Ant-Man other than creative differences, @WDW1974? Eisner tweeted about Disney and Marvel catching heat from the "geek crowd" and now Adam McKay looks to be his replacement? A guy whose more known for comedies, not super hero movies. Was that call made by Feige?

Well, We got a comedian actor in the position of STAR LORD in the Guardians of the Galaxy marvel movie.. so well see how it goes lol.

Well I did love the singing elements to the former studio show, hope this does well.

I agree with the first sentence. The last part is just cynical, tragic if true.

Doesn't Port Canaveral also use pilots? Or at least they did, a few years ago - I recall reading an article about them in one of the port publications.

I am sure they do, I doubt there are any ports in the USA that doesn't have them. The pilots union here in Baltimore has been since the 18th century. Maybe not the union itself but the organization has. The Panama canal was once a United States territory. So this practice was used. It was then turned over to the Panamanian government and it sounds like this practice continued. Once a ship enters the port of that state it must wait to be boarded by one of these pilots. Sometimes there are not enough for every ship. That ship must wait till one is available.
