DA is much larger (and feels surprisingly more open) than it looks, while still managing to capture the imposing-ness of what the Alley is supposed to feel like. It will still be crowded, however.

So is NoS, moreso now that it is expanding Club 33 (Andy Castro is having a -fest over this and I agree with Fidel's little bro here) ... and that is part of its charm.

You want huge empty space? Walkways with nothing but places to stand and get skin cancer? Visit the MK, especially New Fantasyland (when will it simply be Fantasyland again? and not get a special section here?), plenty of open space. I prefer more intimate and realistic venues.

HE will travel both ways for people right?

I can't wait for '74's response to this.

I think traveling both ways is a good way to experience different things. It changes your perspective. And as many fanbois tell me, versatility is always a plus. ... I look forward to traveling the HE in BOTH directions with many fanboi minions.

Amen! haunted mansion is nothing special and it's still my favorite attraction of all time.

Actually, it is my fave as well and it is quite special. It is a masterpiece, which is why an attraction designed in the late 1960s is still hugely popular. Quality ... that is what this ... what most of my discussions are about ... quality. You know it when you experience it.

Why are those larger parking lots needed in 2014 when Pandora doesn't open until 2017?

Let's see, Iger talked about record crowds at the theme parks and yet, over the last few years, WDW onsite hotel occupancy has declined from 90% to 79%.

There are more people at the parks yet over 2 million empty hotel rooms last year. What gives?

This summer, the Grand Floridian's cheapest 'Standard View' room starts at $567/night on a weekday night. :greedy:

I wonder if that has anything to do with the need for larger parking lots?

Can I get one person here to admit they'd pay $567 to stay at the Grand Flo and to try and defend that absurd price point? Any regular? Drag someone in who stays in the planning/hotels forum or General up here ... just find me one person that wants to justify the insanity. You'll be able to order pizza and forgo the popcorn for that one!

What Universal did was to take a page out of Disney Imagineering 101 and turn it into a thesis project.

Its not difficult. Disney came up with the concept. Hopefully this is a push in the right direction.

The issue isn't that Disney can't do this caliber work. They can.

The issue is Disney doesn't really care whether they do or not and they'd rather do as little as possible at WDW.

I really meant the ride vehicle is nothing special. It tilts a little and spins a tad but it's obviously not one of these new fangled contraptions that Potter has been using, albeit successfully. It's not one of those voodoo trackless gadgets etither. The ride system can be anything as long as the show is perfect.

You want me to say Disney rates on Deluxe hotels are overrated?

I'll give a full report later…

I'm not really sure how to digest what I experience today. It wasn't just the dragon or the AAs or the train itself. It was the entire experience.

Suffice to say if Disney wants to do Star Wars, it has to be to this level.
Meaning COMPLETE immersion. In both lands (with the exception of the far end near JP), you are completely immersed within the environment. It's as if the rest of the park doesn't exist in that moment.

But they're all roller coasters and that scares my DW, DD 1 and DS 3 so they don't count as real rides or have real theming. I also can't get resizes for them when I'm planning my park touring.
This is why I think universal needs to do a dark ride there that can appeal to the masses. Let's face it, FJ is pretty rough for those who are prone to motion sickness, Gringotts is reported to be slightly more tame but that could still be bad for a lot of people. A haunted mansion type ride exosting in that world could be epic, and I never use that word.
