The Spirited Seventh Heaven ...

I stand right by your side.

And I've been saying it online longer!!!

I actually think it's become cheaper to stay on property since the advent of the Value Resorts. That in addition to all the discounting they've been offering the last ten years, plus magical express. The last few years going in the Fall getting free dining and staying at Pop for around $100 a night is far from terrible. And while $100 for a one day ticket is crazy, the value at 5 or 6 days isn't bad. While I was only a kid when I was going in the 80's I don't imagine that Disney was ever a "cheap" family vacation.

That is bad logic. It's like saying that a person has to buy a Toyota in order to talk about how much he likes his Honda.

No, not really.

But if I am a blogger who specializes in autos, then it would be disingenuous of me to simply for Honda and pretend the Camry doesn't exist.

There are some lifestylers I genuinely like, but you can't talk about WDW like there are no other options in O-Town unless you say ''we are simply whores for the Disney BRAND'' and ''we won't go to these other places because it might anger our friends at Disney.''

You tell your flock that New Fantasyland is the finest work in O-Town, then you sure as hell had better be familiar with UNI's product or you come off as nothing more than a BRAND advocate.

And, again, are we just supposed to say that because Disney pays obscene salaries to top execs that they are somehow smarter than the rest of us? Cause they are not.
The internet is chock full of people who know how to do stuff better than the people who are actually out there doing those things. At least according to them....

So, getting back to one of your original points, I am pretty outraged about the choice of locations for filming the new SW movies, but frankly I have no intention of seeing it anyway since to me the first 3 produced are all that I can handle. But will my disgust make any difference in the success of this?

Not really.

Because no one is going to boycott this film because they opted to take dirty UAE money to film there (and I like J.J. and Alan Horn, but I think they were dead wrong for this and should be ripped).

But people don't wish to even discuss the issue here, which is sad, but hey ... did you see those $25 Orange Bird pillows?!?!?!?!

If those people are saying that Universal stinks, then you are correct. However, if those people are merely discussing he magical that they believe that WDW is, then you are dead wrong.

Actually back before the "value resorts" were built, CBR and Dixie Landings were far less than that, and park tickets were far cheaper too. We were a family of 4 living on one income (teacher salary) and were able to visit every summer.

I've already been kind of amazed that the last few live-action Disney scripts have contained only one vulgarity—godd*mn—and nobody has pointed it out.

Back OT: Wasn't he in his mid 30s for the first Star Wars?

I think you're making an excellent point about the UAE money, but obviously Americans who already buy their merch from children's sweatshops in China don't really care about anything but a good time. Shades of Hunger Games?

Yep. Remember Touchstone films with real adult (i.e. what you'll hear every day in a WDW attraction queue!) language? I am sure it's because The Weatherman never uses the 'f word' himself.

Yes, Harrison was young back then ... but it was a long, long time ago in a place ...

No, and I made that point (I believe I compared the filming in the UAE eliciting yawns here to the folks who love a juicy burger, but would never want to see how it got on their table but that must have upset someone because it was edited out of existence ... probably one of my friends complained, the passive aggressives who read every word, but won't comment here).

This is a don't spoil anything zone and nothing has been.

You were on a cruise when we last had this conversation.

I said that I would spoil te end of game of thrones for any more spoilers. I have two books full of spoilers and I'm all for using them.

So.

We're not on a Star Wars forum. Star Wars is off topic, especially for this thread. Even the guy who started this thread was kvetching about people going off topic.

Let's not play this game....

It hasn't. I used to regularly stay at Pop for $49 a night. You can buy your own food for that price.

Oh, and when I did free dining (I did it three times before they screwed around and took away the appetizer and gratuity and then made the DDP at values all QSRs unless you paid extra), I think the most I paid for a value room was about $79.

It doesn't much matter to me as I eat at WDW locales sparingly now, unlike what I did 10-15 years ago. There are great options in the REAL WORLD, a few minutes away from WDW. Those are fine with me.

No, if those people say ''WDW has the best theme parks in Orlando'' but refuse to go elsewhere, then those opinions are as valuable as a pile of cow dung.

I can't quite comprehend why/how Disney gets people to buy mugs and dishware that you can't stick in a dishwasher or microwave. This isn't 1984. C'mon. Get with it.

***Stop reading here if you love the new Co-Op at TSFKaDD***

And seriously, fanbois, why are you getting all hot and bothered by the merchandise at TSFKaTM? Most of it isn't WDW specific. Most of it has been on sale for months in Anaheim because it was made as generic 'specialized' stuff that has both DLR and WDW art/logos/themes on it so they can sell it at both resorts. Except for some items that are badly out of place ... like Orange Bird in Anaheim.

I don't want a glass that has the DLRR on one side and BTMRR at WDW on the other. I don't want DISNEY PARKS merchandise. I want DL stuff ... and EPCOT stuff ... and DCA stuff etc.

Barely missed the opening of Co-Op when we were at DTD last week. (And Disney will have to pay me in cold, hard cash to go back there, at least until Disney Springs construction is done...possibly ever. That was a freakin' nightmare between the parking insanity, the mall-at-Christmas crowds and the claustrophobia-inducing construction walls at every turn. You know what you do when you, as a business, have prevented your customers from parking at your glorified mall? You valet park them FOR FREE. You don't try to charge them $25 for valet parking...but I digress.) I think some of the Co-Op stuff is actually cute, but the no dishwasher/no microwave thing is a complete deal breaker. I have a six-year-old, so we end up with cutesy, cheap-o melamine plates and junk all the time. As soon as no one is looking, I slip those babies right into the trash. Worthless. And, agreed--why do I go to WDW to buy a big DISNEYLAND sign (featured prominently in many of the photos from the shop's opening)? Who makes these decisions?

HINT: If you really need to buy WDW BRANDED merchandise, then I'd strongly suggest a drive two miles off property to the Lake Buena Vista Premium Outlets and WDW's Character Premiere outlet store (there are other nice stores, but we're talking Disney now). I NEVER buy a damn thing in the actual parks without a CM and their 35% (sometimes up to 50% at holidays) discount close by. Period. If I don't have a friend around, then it is outlet shopping all the way.

The problem I have noticed with the outlets lately is there selection sucks. They are carrying no where near the amount of product they used to get. At least that is what I have noticed.

The HP mugs at the Wizadirng World of Harry Potter are not dishwasher safe either, it probably saves them the cost of 1penny per mug, so the budget got cut
How can things not be dishwasher safe in today's world. I even buy deli meat at the local supermarket that comes in some handy little plastic storage containers. There cheap as hell and yet so no signs of having an issue being run through a dishwasher and used in a microwave. What exactly happens if they aren't microwave safe? Do they just melt or is there some other far more sinister result?

Paint fades or washes off in the dishwasher, and the material itself will start to dissolve, literally. In the microwave dishes are known to crack or even explode.
