The Spirited Back Nine ...

Election Night just isn't the same without Dan Rather spouting his witticisms.

Not looking to open Pandora's box, but I haven't followed this Florida governor's race closely. Out of all the possible candidates to run against Scott, why did the Dems nominate Charlie Crist?

Because the 'orange one' will do whatever his handlers tell him to do, useful in machine politics...

We've touched on Florida politics in these threads without any gnashing of teeth (or without any fanbois wetting themselves).

All I know (and care about) is that Tom Corbett just made me miss the last twenty minutes of the Marvel comics special that was just on. And it was really interesting! :(

I should at least thank him for putting my cat dog and room mate all to sleep. I'd move, but the dog is snoring in my lap.

Is the D ticket you are taking about is TSMM? I assume yes. Of the other 3:
  1. the rumor now seems to be that the parachute drop is being replaced with a Mater from Carsland type ride re-themed to Toy Story. That would be a nice addition.
  2. The Slinky Dog ride seems to be similar to a ground level spinner. Kinda like the music express type ride that exists at a lot of amusement parks. Not a bad addition.
  3. The third ride, RC racer seems very Impractical. There will be big lines and not a lot of bang for their buck. I would like to see that ride skipped and replaced with something else with higher capacity even if it's just a classic spinner.
I was really hoping for a basic dark ride in the Pixar area themed to either Cars (the rumored RSR lite) or Monsters. The Playland rides are needed to increase capacity, but it's a big area and it seems there is plenty of room for more. Has anyone done or seen a picture of the area that TSPL covers overplayed on the BLT area? We had one for the entire Carsland and it fit. I can't imagine TSPL is that big.

I have zero issues with two kid-friendly flat rides and RC Racer (nice little weenie for the back of the park) being added in a Toy Story mini-land. If anything, it would get me to stay in DHS since I love Music Expresses and half-pipe coasters. I also want to ride Junkyard Jamboree, but making a trip to CA is too expensive so a similar ride over here would be nice.

However, I would expect a major Pixar addition as well. Those are just short-term ways to increase attraction count and to "expand" Pixar Place. Unless room is made for a few D/E tickets, what is the point of tearing down Backlot Tour and LMA?

Retheme HITSK to Bug's Life at the same time as another easy fix, maybe even relocate Laugh Floor. But the suits shouldn't avoid adding a Cars dark ride or a Monsters door coaster as well. It's Pixar Place, not just TSPL. And it's an area that still needs an E-ticket (TSMM is a D).

I wouldn't hold out too much hope for a true E ticket for Pixar. Maybe Star Wars. I'd be happy with a dark ride or 2 even if they were basic and considered D (like LM in FLE).

Miceage has triple confirmed that the backlot tour is being replaced with Toy Story Playland and one of the rides will be a re-themed clone of the cars land favorite.....Mater's Junkyard Jamboree

what? You thought Disney was going to replace Backlot tour with an E-ticket?
Who says Toy Story Playland will be the only thing replacing BLT? It has alot of space and can easily fit a big attraction in addition to TSPL. '74 said we will get two headliner attractions and some small attractions. TSPL is part of the small attractions, and what DHS has lacked in.

That's what I was thinking, with jack sparrow closed as well there is a massive empty plot and with these small attractions, and two new headliners I think HS will have a pretty full cannon including it's current e and d tickets. If the identity crisis is addressed (the hat was a first step) then I think it will come out a fuller park than Epcot. (Which is unfortunate because I'm partial to Epcot :arghh:)

No one can say with complete confidence what exactly is coming. Plans are in so much flux the Spirit doesn't even feel comfortable offering specific details because so many things aren't nailed down.

To review, what we know:
  • Known IP: Cars, Toy Story, and Star Wars
  • Construction to begin in three phases (January, April/May and October)
  • BAH comes down in January
  • Nothing in the park is safe save for ToT, RnRC, TSMM and Star Tours
  • Budget, at this point, is around DCA 2.0 levels ($1.2-1.5 Billion)

No its not for sure, but lets not act like TSPL is the only thing coming to DHS either.

So, DHS is getting a toy story themed Chester and Hester's. And people here think that is what DHS needs.

It's not, Star Wars Land will likely be a big deal, but folks are very disappointed that a good enough land like TSPL could be taking valuable real estate in a small, landlocked park.
Any idea how big the TSPL in Paris is? Comparable in size to Carsland? I would think probably smaller just based on the lineup of rides. No big show buildings or elaborate rock work.

What's really confusing is it seems like based on rumors an awful lot of land is becoming "available" between BLT, LMA, Jack Sparrow building and Streets of America. The Star Wars stuff is rumored to be on the other side of the park. Unless TSPL is significantly larger than I'm picturing there has to be something else to the Pixar part of this project.

Imagine Adventureland without Pirates... I feel that is what DHS is evolving too :(

DHS isn't lacking 'tweener rides... it's lacking period. If they don't add some real substance to offset the end of the studios portion of the park I'm just going to be sick to my stomach.. and I'm not talking StarWars 5-8 years from now.

I really have no interest in visiting the parks right now and there seems to be nothing on the horizon to change that.

The Christmas Parade is being renamed to the "Disney Frozen Christmas Celebration" this year.
http://www.rotoscopers.com/2014/11/04/disney-frozen-christmas-celebration-to-air-december-25-on-abc/

I legit got mad when reading this and I can't believe my annoyance with Frozen has gotten to the point where I have emotional reactions to the shilliest shillfest DIsney's ever shilled out getting co-opted to specifically shill Frozen.

Shouldn't it be Disney's Frozen Christmas Celebration?

Why do they hate possessives so much?

Reading the Spirit's threads is like reading the OP/ Ed and Letters to the Editors pages of any newspaper. Strong opinions and immovable positions. Much like politics and religion. Still, always interesting, informative and often amusing, depending on your point of view. Different strokes for different folks.

Silly little wand stroker, you need to wipe the floo powder out of your eyes and put your little round glasses on so you can see clearly. No one here thinks this is all DHS needs. We know DHS needs extensive and expensive additions. But DHS does need kid friendly rides plus added capacity in a hurry before the (hopefully) bigger projects start. TSPL, if well themed, will provide both and be a welcome addition to Pixar place.
