The Spirited Back Nine ...

Agreed it was associated, but, it wasn't guilty of any form of discrimination on it's own. It was something that just happened to be part of the ad campaign. There is no reason to not reintroduce it without even a minor thought that it, in and of itself, had anything to do with Anita's lack of sense.

Some things and their associated symbols just need to be consigned to the ash heap of history, The 'Mammy' cookie jars are another example.

no, oil, not cream... cool whip
Awful commercial! Do you pronounce it wip or whhhhhip? speaking of commercials I haven't seen the holiday foldgers one yet, with the brother that just returned from abroad and there is the odd tension between him and his sister... that's a classic!

Well the Colglazier perk whacking machine is spooling up out at DL, The TDO rot is spreading to DL now.

Club 33 Platinum Members no longer have VIP passes to hand out.

Wow, that author really should have done some more research on what they've been doing with the club over the last 4 years before chastizing people... moron. But what should I expect from someone writing for MJ under a column 'income inequality'

Yeah - the author clearly doesn't know anything about the club or how it works.

The bottom line is that a major perk has been removed - and that major perk was THE SELLING POINT they used to get members who were previously paying $3-4K a year to upgrade and pay $12-13K/per year. As a result, many of them have reverted to the lower tier membership - the Disney bait and switch technique employed so well at WDW went over like a fart in church with club members.

So they're now paying MORE for LESS. Sound familiar to anyone who visits WDW?

Feelings about the 1% or whatever aside, it's emblematic of a bigger problem. The letter they sent members said the benefits were being "enhanced" - who writes this stuff with a straight face? It's a flat out lie - there were no new benefits or enhancements, just a price hike with a major benefit deletion.

Club members are some of the park's biggest fans (whales in Vegas parlance) who drop thousands and thousands each year on merch, events and dining. In the past two years, Colglazier's pet project of revamping Club 33 has seen the members be treated horribly. Colglazier and his friends should attend some classes from Vegas casinos on how to treat whales - they're failing on a big scale.

The new lounge will now be empty almost all of the time. Enjoy the lost drink and food revenue TDA!

In fairness... the new 'lets rape the club' mentality started before Colglazier's tour of duty. It's just flat out accelerated in recent times, culminating with the changes from the renovation. The whole 'way of doing business' with the club and it's members has changed. Long lost is the 'old country club' approach and it's looked at like a normal park perk these days... no integrity, no respect for existing members' perks, and treating the pricing like they do one of these stupid add-on events the company sells non-stop now.

Yes the Club 33 members are indeed Disney's Whales and should be treated as such, From MiceChat it also appears that the Club 33 waitlist has been significantly reduced because of the ill conceived actions.

Interestingly enough the reason for this was 'Lounge overcrowding' sounds like they want to cut back staffing at the Club.

That's hilarious - only because the lounge is already empty most of the time. No one knows how to screw up a good thing like Disney!

True, it really started under Kalogridis. Colglazier has taken credit for the club revamp as being his personal project, claiming it was an untapped revenue center. *barf*

I literally can't even

I understand what you are saying, but, most people never associated the Orange Bird as anti-gay. that is a big difference. I never once connected the two, never even thought about it until it came up here, and frankly, it would be an over-reaction to the problem and placing blame where it doesn't belong. Your example is way different as far as any association with both discrimination and stereotyping. You and a few others have somehow linked it all together when one had nothing to do with the other.

I assure you people who have friends in the LGBT community or are LGBT have a FAR different view of the 'Orange Bird' than the average person.

Oh, no! Are we doing something to upset the rich people again. What are we thinking trying to make it accessible for people that don't have yacht to sell to pay it.

I don't doubt it, but, that doesn't stop it from being directed at the wrong thing does it? I'm sure that within the LGBT their are many that have enough common sense to know that those things were said by Anita and not the company symbol. And that very shortly after she said her most blatant anti-gay statement she was removed as the company spokesperson.

No offense, but you have no idea what you're talking about. The club changes have not made it anymore accessible to anyone - it has made the club much more expensive to join than it was previously. Annual dues have gone from the $3-4K range to $12,500 per year.

Rich people are also people, and the point here is not that rich people are upset boo hoo, the point is that Disney has now turned their pay more get less philosophy on their biggest VIPs - and unlike the Wal-Mart crowd who happily pays more than ever at WDW and takes it like a man, club members are not so forgiving.

Yea, I guess your right. I don't know from first hand experience. I was going by the previous posts that this was what it was implying. I apparently was wrong in my assumption and quite frankly I have spent 66 years of my life not giving a (fill in the blank) about Club 33 ever. So, frankly again, I don't really care what it does to the biggest VIP's. And that doesn't make me a part of the Wal-Mart crowd, but, I am not stupid enough to spend twice the money to buy something in a "status" location when I can get the same thing at Wal-Mart for a lot less money. In my mind that makes the "Wal-Mart crowd much smarter then the VIP crowd.
